This campground is now closed - sold for development. Too bad too - it was the only half way decent campground in the Toms River area. - penguin

We were there as hurricane Michael was finishing it's devastation to Florida and turned into a tropical storm over this campground. We got the emergency alert a 2 am about a river near us flooding. Kind of scary, when you do not know how high you are elevation wise? The park was very soggy, and we had a back in spot that was hard to find a place to park our truck, We were in site # B1 The staff was not overly friendly about all kinds of things. Very minimal answers to any questions you might have. - Vipermanden
Aug 2018 - $58.00
The park was the third or forth that we visited to make our "Summer Home." We like to fish and boat, and this was the most convenient to Manasquan and other fishing areas. The grounds are kept clean. The owner is always available. There are activities on the weekends. Overall very happy with the location, so much we are staying again next season. If you like to fish and boat this is the place for you!!! Keep your boat at the storage lot, and tow it wherever you feel like fishing. - Capt Walt
Jul 2018 - $59.00
We enjoyed the campground feel of this park. Sites were large but nothing between sites to add privacy. All the utilities were fine and the site was almost level side to side. Front to back was off more but not enough to be an issue. Interior roads and sites are sandy dirt. Roads would be tight for big rigs. - DRKM

This park is 90% old annual trailers, many in need of repair and cleaning. The roads are barely passable with parked cars and dumpsters. The pull through site that we were given was too small and difficult to maneuver the 5th wheel so that the slide outs wouldn't hit multiple untrimmed trees. In order to fit on the site the sewer was between the wheels. The sites were only 30 amps and even tho they advertised cable they had no boxes to make it work. The WiFi would not access the internet. We will not ever stay here again. We used Passport America and received 50% off the above $$ - LindaRee515
Sep 2018 - $23.00
The site was long & level enough so we did not have to unhook our TT. The Wifi worked well & we appreciated the $23/nite Passport America. But the park is more a trailer park with permanent, very old, unkempt trailers filling most spots. Old furniture, mattresses, heaps of rubbish & debris at many sites. Sewer hookups were open. We did not feel safe. We hooked up the electric & stayed inside for the night. We had difficulty getting out in the morning due to cars, boats, & work vehicles parked in the roadways. We would not return. - R&S
Aug 2018 - $30.00
$60 / night ($30 w/ Passport America) for w/e/s/I/c. We generally don't use campground amenities so price is a big factor of where we choose to stay. I don't care if there are older units on site since I understand everybody has different financial resources. However, I don't understand the extreme reviews for this campground -- either 5 star or 1 star. This campground is mostly permanent residents in older trailers. No problem with that! However, the sites are very cluttered and not at all attractive. During quiet hours there were some dogs barking and some noisy residents but nothing extreme. The individual who greeted us in the office was very nice, escorted us to our site and helped us get parked. Very generous Passport American policy (any days up to 14 nights). - Teddi2

Jul 2008 - $18.00
We stayed at this park during the 4th of July. It is a run down trailer park more than an RV.Their are small children running around all day unsupervised with a lake and is very noisy all day and night. While we were there there was a car chase involving two drunks and one of them drove his truck into the lake. Cable did not work, water lines were full of air, bathrooms and showers were filthy, laundry room always flooded and machines not working. The worst was the geese every morning and the tons of crap they left at your campsite. We would not return if it was free. Would not recommend. - scb
May 2008 - $25.00
We drove through this camp ground. Lots of full time campers with some very old campers. The grounds were not kept up at all. Nice lake. Pot holes in the driveway area that you could lose a small car in. Talked to some locals and they said to stay away due to plenty of drugs and convicts. - Jodee

My husband and I have been staying here for over a month, before we get on the road. We are newbies, in the midst of renting out our home and getting ready to retire. We have found our stay here to be very pleasant and conveniently located in central NJ. Our site is clean and neat, maybe a bit close to our neighbor, and found some dead branches over us that need to be trimmed, but other than that we really do not have any complaints. The management is quite excellent and responsive. This is a good, safe family place, with lots of summer activities for families. There is a decent laundromat available here. Lots of nearby shopping and there is a Laundromat in town, if you wish to save some $ on laundry. - J Muench
May 2018 - $33.00
This was a nice resort, but we didn't use the facilities. They have 2 pools, bocce ball, basketball, mini golf, activities in the summer. We were there on a rainy week. Being all sand, it made for a mess walking the dog. I will say we got in and out with our 40' rig, but it was very difficult. There is an escort to help and he was very helpful. Lots of trees, no satellite, they had cable, we had fhu 50 amp, unhooked by office, verizon signal on and off, wifi available. Appreciated the recycle bin. The traffic noise is there if you are parked in back. Our spot was quiet. Spots were roomy, but felt crowded as they were every which way and no sense of privacy at all. - dorcol
Oct 2017 - $59.00
Wooded park but road noise is evident. Jet traffic into and out of McGuire. A lot of rules (walk dogs only on your site, can't use your washer/dryer, no pitbull or pitbull mixes), seemingly ignored and not enforced. A lot of seasonal sites. Narrow roads, tight turns. Ok for an overnight.
Follow the web site directions rather than the GPS. Roads leading to the campground are good. - jplante4

Well let's just say the rates vary depending upon the owners mood. Nice place but after 25 years there the owner has really managed to create a hostile and unwelcome atmosphere. It's a shame but I'm tired of being nickeled and dimed to death. She has a problem with simple math - Funguy
Aug 2012 - $38.00
The woman on duty said "cash only" for our 3 night stay, which surprised me. But we ponied up the cash. Finding this place is something of a challenge since it's partially down a dirt road and no signs to lead you to it. Our site was near the regulars because we wanted a SW exposure for our satellite antenna, so we were spared the overnight area, but trees still blocked us, so no TV. Also the sites are very close together and the trailers there look as if they haven't moved in years. Site was level but very sandy and without a rug we were dragging it through the trailer. Bathrooms were clean but rustic. The bottom of the doors on the lady's room stalls were very high and consequently not very private. Showers very well used but clean. - Wendywoods

One of our favorite campgrounds. Approximate 12 miles from Long Beach Island. Nice, friendly, quiet campground (with no scheduled activities). It is located in the Pine Barrens. WARNING: The entrance road is very rough. - artspe

Big rig friendly with level sites. Campground was 7 miles from highway but easy drive. WiFi, showers, laundry, and dog park was good. Cable was good but could not get satellite due to trees. - Fulltimersrv
Apr 2019 - $75.00
Camped early in the season, so it was relatively quiet. Nice camp store and friendly staff. Campground roads are a little tight for a very large rig. Just need to pay attention at the corners and watch the leaning trees. - Mike Corl
Oct 2018 - $28.00
The sites are large and wide, with sandy soil and lots of trees. We didn't use the restrooms or laundry but I did investigate and they were spotless. Pool was closed as it was end of season. The store is well stocked with friendly staff. My grandchildren did visit and joined in on crafts, a hayride and trick or treating. Very restful and peaceful at night. - RickyTs

What a wonderful campsite. Very clean and well maintained. There aren't many transient sites, mostly seasonal, but the seasonals are in a section by themselves, with a carded gate entry. All of us transients are together, which is great because you don't have to deal with all of the sheds, decks and fences the seasonals put up.
The staff was accommodating and friendly, especially when we wanted to stay a few hours longer to go to Long Beach Island. It's a short trip to LBI. The site is large with brush in the back. Only 30 amp, and we blew a circuit with our 2 air conditioners. First time this happened at any campground, but the staff came right out and reset the circuit breaker.
You have to back into the dump station, but they have a pump out person that comes around every day. Swimming pool and putt putt. The putt putt needs some work, but it was fine for us to play and spend some time. Will defintely go back! - Kevie
Aug 2017 - $62.00
Checked into a premium site. I had no cable TV Friday night. Saturday went to office and was told I needed a cable box. That didn't work either. Water leaked and had to get an extra washer to fit in adaptor. Also on Friday requested to be first pumped out on Sunday, since there is no sewer or dump station. Sunday I was hooked up and ready to go. Had to go find lady to pump me out and she said was never told of my request (which I had double checked Saturday night ). Also went in pool area. Saw hot tub / whirlpool in pics. Was really looking forward to this after 8 hour trip, only to be told by pool attendant he cannot turn on the jets. He isn't allowed. Nice place, but very disappointing. And definitely NOT worth the $$$. - joanner
May 2017 - $44.00
This park is undergoing long needed renovations under new ownership and the effort is paying off. My score is an "8" but I would not be surprised if it is a "9" soon. The buildings are looking good as are the pool and play areas. Gravel sites share utility pedestal area so campers are close on the "business" side while the living side is large with fire pit, charcoal grill and a picnic table. My site was pretty level but did require use of my Anderson leveler. WiFi and the Honey Truck are included. There are no sewer hook-ups. The seasonal area is separate and most sites show signs of long-time residence. We don't live far away so this may well be a twice a year pre and post busy season trip for us. Staff was excellent and very friendly. - Bandguy

*Military and DoD Civilian only* This is a military campground and is open to active military, National Guard, Reserves, and DoD civilians. It's a small campground with 9 spots. The spots all seemed to be level. They do not have any pull-through sites, but the sites are plenty big to accommodate a larger RV. The campground is also very close to the beach that is also a part of the base, and is within walking distance. The bath house is fairly modern and was clean, though we were the only family here that weekend. There is also a playground next to the bathhouse. There's an inlet behind the campground where you can go crabbing or fishing. It's also worth checking out the small National Guard History museum while here as well, as it's free. We will be staying here again. - grim509

Jul 2017 - $25.00
We stayed here for a week because of its location. It is the closest campground to the beach in this area of NJ. Having said that, we will probably not stay here again. It is just not designed for a 30' motorhome.
We knew going in there were no hookups, but access to the dump station required contortionist maneuvers. Originally, we were going to use the campground showers and bathrooms, but they were just awful. It was incredibly difficult to get level. This campground is better for small rvs, tents, and pop ups. - Full-Time-RVer
Apr 2017 - $25.00
In over 2 years of full timing all over the US where we stay primarily in state parks this is hands down the worst we have been in. It's too bad since there are very few state parks in NJ that will allow RVs over 25' but that was the least of our problems. Add $5/day/pet and $17.50 "service charge" for a campground with no hook ups, no water available (see below) and an unacceptable women's showers. Registration is at a site 3/4 mile BEYOND the entrance to the campground in an area that cannot accommodate large rigs (we are 33' and could not have) The site we reserved (#4) was supposedly big enough for a 33' rig-it was 33'6" long-rutted and sloped, dirt, sand and small branches as a surface; and 11' 9" wide (between trees that would not allow extension of an awning) We were able to change though the site was still sloped-end to end and side to side. First attempt to get water from the pedal operated spigot was unsuccessful. The water spews from the pedal area but not the spigot. 2nd attempt at a further spigot-water still comes from pedal area but also from spigot UNTIL a hose is connected. Then it spews from the pedal area and every other opening on the apparatus-up, down and out, EXCEPT the spigot. The third spigot next to the bathhouse has no water at all. A call to the office brings the "full time maintenance man" within 15 min who proceeds in the face of a pump (#2) apparatus taped from bottom to top, to say "it needs to be fixed." To be fair, he was very nice and took us to the maintenance garage where we were able to fill our tank. The trip to the showers the next morning was as disappointing. 3 showers-2 had only cold and of those 1 no pressure since the shower head. The handicapped shower had warm water for about 10 seconds of the 15 sec push button allotment but ended with lukewarm with water spraying from both upper and lower heads and no control. I don't like to write bad reviews but we could not recommend this place at all. - edc1951
Apr 2017 - $25.00
Not sure how this park got such good reviews unless it was for location and/or activities. $25/night (for non-NJ residents) and a $5 reservation fee and no hookups. I have to wonder what they're doing with the money, because it's certainly not campground improvements. The bathrooms are clean but in dire need of updating. Broken shower heads, no shelving in sink area, scratched mirrors, etc. Even though they say bears are active in the area, the dumpster lid was broken in half (perhaps the result of the bears?). I only saw staff in the campground twice (and that was probably for cleaning). Noise from the interstate is audible but bearable. I probably wouldn't stay here again. - MSSW
