Once you get to the park it is well located to see NYC. The drive in is an adventure but the saying "go slow-go wide" makes it doable. The park itself is just a parking lot with the max number of space jammed in. We could not get reservations for electric and water so we were in the "overflow" area and if we return would stay there again, way more room and from our space we could see the NYC sky line and the Statue of Liberty. When we where leaving our slide would not come in after much work we got it in and left 40 minutes after check out time and they charged us $40 for a "late fee", seemed extreme but those were the rules. Given the few options we would stay there again. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Visiting NYC is work but worth the effort. We had a great dinner at the Palms. The 911 Memorial is moving. So much to see it can be overwhelming, allow plenty of time.

One of the most expensive campgrounds we've ever been to other than Fort Wilderness in Disney. It is nothing more than a parking lot with water and electric. The office doesn't have ice or any other store items, but they have a very informative packet of information. This campground does give you direct access to New York City. Via the ferry or the path train you have easy access. Because you are so close and your neighbor's slides are over the line into your area, you get to know people quickly. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

The very good about this park is location, location, location. Ferries, PATH trains, etc. all close by. Love the restaurant/bar next door (Surf City) good food and great views of NYC. The bad: It is the worst dump of an RV park I have ever stayed in and paid so much for. Sites are jammed together. No sewer and the RV dump is in the corner and you have to back into it. The electricity is unusable a great percentage of the time. Many times the voltage is under 100. Occasionally it gets to 107. If you ask about the electricity shutting off AGAIN, they say the "park is old". Such low voltage could damage your AC, etc. I have been here 3 times over the years and the electricity is the same every time. I do think the "C" row is the worst. All that said, it is the only place to stay if you want to see New York. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here twice in the last 3 years. Read the reviews, do your research. If you know what you are getting into, it is a very nice place to stay. It's not a resort, it's an asphalt parking lot with electric and water hookups. The shower and rest room area fine, better than most State Parks, but not pristine. It's pricey, but for this area the price is actually reasonable. You can't be in a better spot to grab transportation into the City. I know it's hard to spend $100 or so a night and not get a resort, I understand that is why people are so down on it.....but if you want a nice, safe place to see NYC you really can't beat this place. We look forward to staying here again the next time we swing through. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Location, location, location. The best campground for people visiting nearby New York City. You don't come here for children's playground, hay rides, swimming pool, store, shaded sites or planned activities. There is none of that here. This conveniently located campground is for people sightseeing in New York City. Within walking distance of train station and ferry service. Considering the expensive hotel and property prices in the area, this place is comparatively cheap. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is exactly as others have indicated. It is only a place to park your RV if you wish to visit NYC. It is not pretty and you are sandwiched in like sardines yet it has a certain charm to it seeing that NYC is in your back yard. Sunsets out of our RV window were beautiful. The convenience to the ferry and/or the path train is excellent. The office provides all the necessary information for visiting the city and will answer questions if need be. All in all, it is your best option to visit NYC. This park is probably not for everyone so read the reviews and if it does not appeal do not stay there. Otherwise just enjoy it for what it is and come away with a fond memory of your stay in NYC. Be aware of coming to Jersey City from the north on I-95. There is construction on the George Washington Bridge and RV's need to stay on the upper bridge along with the other million trucks that are also crossing. We came through around noon anticipating city traffic but thinking it tolerable since it was not rush hour. It was 1 1/2 hrs of grid lock. Would avoid this route at all costs. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I don't understand the poor reviews. I guess some people need to do their reviews while considering the factors of the location and not in comparison to every campground they have ever been to. If this was in Colorado, yes 1*, but its not! This park is here to cater to RVs that want to visit NYC. Period. This park does it well. There are VERY few options if you want to use your RV to visit NYC. I did the research. there are maybe 3 campgrounds outside of NYC that are within a 45 minute ride to the city. The others do cost less, but the extra time and expense to get to the city balances out the cost. This CG is a 10 minute ferry ride or 5 minute subway ride. Quick and easy access to the city. We were very comfortable leaving the dogs at camp to run into the city for dinner. Upon arrival at noon we found the staff to be very friendly. We were checked in less than 5 minutes. The staff was VERY clear about the $40 sign out fee. [To check out you must physically sign out at the office when departing. A fee of $40 will be charged for failure to sign out.] The campground is easy to navigate for a big rig. Sites were all reasonably level. Fresh clean gravel at our site.We had plenty of room for our 35' RV and toad. We had clean 50 amp power, but did trip our EMS 1 time. It was 95 degrees and voltage dropped to 108v on one leg that day. Google/waze GPS brought us to the back door "RV ferry parking". Which ended up being easier to navigate than the streets. Just follow the RV parking signs. We only had 2 days scheduled and asked about dry camping. The staff said the dry camp wouldn't be a problem if we needed an extra day. Just let them know on the last day. I asked about generator usage in dry camp since it was in the 90's this week. We were told quiet hours were 11pm - 7am. If our Generator was quiet (it is) we were free to run it, BUT if there were any complaints security would ask us to shut it off. Which I consider very reasonable and clear expectations. If we visit NYC again we will definitely come back here. ATT, Sprint, T-Mobile all had solid LTE signal. If you are last minute campers, Keep an eye on the reservation site. Cancellations update in real time. We booked 2 days during peak season less than a week out. Dry camping is not on the website. Call ahead for availability. Chances are they can get you in. Exactly what I figured it would be considering where it is and the research I did.

We arrived late Security guard was very nice got us checked in.

Folks it is mainly a asphalt and gravel parking lot thats it nothing fancy.

Our site was very level.

Most Sites are tight, no sewage hook up but they do have dump station.

They did have some RVs in the storage lot that were dry camping.

I would stay here again if all I am looking for is something close to NY NY.

All the people complaining about this and that, first read the web-site, second read your receipt, third read the rules, umm fourth use some common sense. We booked about 6 months out and had no surprises on extra fees.

Have a great day RVing. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Here is a big tip! The directions they give could be better.

If you are headed towards NY NY (Holland Tunnel) on I-78. After paying toll follow exit to Columbus ave (does not say Christopher) at bottom of ramp get in right lane, go until you have to go right or circle back, take right turn this is Columbus, follow until Marin take right go all the way until the end. Roads are tight.

Only game in town! That is why you pay over $100 a night to stay there. No amenities, but ferry is right out your door. About 1/2 mile walk to the NJ subway which connects with NY’s so that is very convenient. Just a parking lot and sites are very close together. What you would expect in a huge metropolitan area. The good about this park is that it is convenient to NYC, it was quiet and the water pressure was adequate. The bad about this park is that it has electrical issues, tight sites of asphalt and gravel and no sewer. A power surge melted my surge protector to my power cord end. I took pictures and reported it to the office. Needless to say, they would not reimburse me for the damage I incurred while there. The people next to me said their surge protector detected reverse polarity. I would NOT stay at this park again. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

It is hard to rate this "RV park". It is a paved parking lot that spots marked off as sites with power and water for each site. There is a dump site. It is the location that makes this park a great place to stay. Just about 6 or 7 blocks, an easy walk, to the PATH train into Manhattan, for $2.75 each way. That takes you to the World Trade Center where you can catch a number of subways to go uptown. There is 24 hour security and it is right next to a huge marina. You can walk about 1/2 mile to a dock where you catch a ferry from Liberty Harbor to Liberty Park (about a 2 minute ferry ride) where you can catch a boat to the Statue of Liberty or you can go to the Liberty Science Center. Or you can ferry over to Manhattan. I rate this as a very convenient RV park for visiting Manhattan and it appears to be safe. The neighborhood is changing. Lot of new buildings and residences and a lot of people walking around. The park itself has nothing else to offer. Location, Location, Location. They charged more for Memorial Day Weekend, which is understandable. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

The bathrooms did have rust and were a bit old but were cleaned daily and I took a shower daily and was not grossed out by the rust. The bathrooms were not moldy or smelly. There is a gym next door that does not belong to the RV park that does play loud music that you can hear in the ladies bathroom but it was not a huge deal for me. As stated in previous reviews the rv park is just a parking lot but the location is AMAZING!! The train/subway stop is more like 8-9 blocks away but was easy to find and easy to use. We felt safe using it during the week and during the day. The also close the gates and ask for ID for anyone including people walking who arrive after dark. I felt safe and it was quiet. The park was great for what it was. You can easily walk to the bathrooms from any space and the dump station was easy to use. Definitely worth the price to be so close to Manhattan and still sleep in our own beds. Of course Manhatten was amazing, to much to list. Once you get off of the Path in Jersey city you will find some amazing shops and restaurants. We enjoyed walking around Jersey city. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

This RV Park is a potholed parking lot. Although the convenience to the City is tremendous, it is a total rip off. Somewhere in their check in banter they swear they inform you that check out is at 11:00 (which is normal), HOWEVER listen very carefully for them to tell you that you MUST CHECK OUT IN PERSON AND SIGN A CLIPBOARD THAT YOU ARE CHECKING OUT. Failure to do so will result in a $40 charge to your credit card. Additionally, if you are headed north, you can't take the Holland Tunnel due to height restrictions. You must cross the Geo. Washington Bridge, which cost $84.00. There was an additional $19 toll along the way. That is a total of $260.00 to park one night in a parking lot. Easily accessible to NY City is the ONLY advantage to staying here. We will never do so again. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Pricy, No amenities, Lousy Customer Service, Horrible roads getting into the park. This is a glorified parking lot for boats that they allow RV's to park at. The problem is that you have no other choice for RV parking in the immediate area and they know it. The Location to NY is good but everything else is bad. There was no internet during my entire stay and they did not care. Said it was a courtesy to have internet and the connection was not guaranteed. The guard let me look at the equipment to try an get it to reset. I laughed. There running an old cheap Cisco G Router that looks to have been built a decade ago. The one on the shelf at Best Buy that cost about $20 bucks. At over $110 per day, they can afford a good router that delivers a stable internet connection. The roads to the park are worse than horrible. Even driving very slow to avoid as much road damage as possible. Which consists of dozens of potholes and bumps from the start of when you get off Interstate all the way to the RV Park. There are dozens of potholes and road damage you can not avoid. (Where do they put the Millions collected every day in road tolls) The roads totally damaged the front end alignment on my coach, damaged one of my steering arms and bent the axel on my tow dolly. $1900 dollars of front end damage to the coach and the tow dolly will have to be replaced. And to stick a knife in the wound. I found an extra $40 dollar charge on my bill. When I called they told me it was because I did not go to the office and sign out. I met the guard at the gate at 6:30 AM the morning I was leaving and told him I was leaving. He never told me I needed to sign out. Guess that they needed the $40 dollars to repair their nonexistent internet. Possibly also to repair their attitudes toward their guests. Recommend you find another park even if it is a few miles away. You will be much happier and save costly damage to your coach. We camped at Liberty Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.
