1 RV Park near Datil, New Mexico
Jun 2019 - $5.00
This is a campground with no amenities except beautiful nature. A lot of work had been done on the roads and campsites. The sites were dirt and gravel and mostly level. The vault toilets were extremely clean and had no odor. There is a nice hiking trail to some scenic views in the mountains. Our view was open across the meadow area. The site was quite spacious. There are only about 20 sites. It is an easy drive to the VLA and is an interesting visit. The little town of Datil has one store that has a GREAT restaurant with excellent pies, burgers, and sandwiches. There is a small motel and RV Park. - Lula1943
May 2018 - $3.00
$2.50 with the Federal Senior Pass. No electricity, no sewer and no dump. About a quarter of a mile off the highway along a good gravel road. Many sites are not very level. Gravel pads all of good length including some that can accommodate the biggest rigs (although probably not too level). There are many vault toilets and water spigots. The toilets are exceptionally clean. Sites are among piñon pines. The air was crisp and clean in mid-May. There are a few short trails that start at the campground. I will definitely visit again on a trip out west. - Teardrop11
Feb 2018 - $5.00
We spent one night here to go visit the Very Large Array. In February, there were very few people in the campground, so we had a lot of choices for sites. We selected a couple of pull-thrus that looked promising, but upon trying to get into them discovered that centrally placed trees and slanted pavement were going to make it nearly impossible for us to fit. (Our 5er is 33 feet, not huge by fifth wheel standards.) We decided a back in site would suit us better after a close call with limbs in a pull-thru; it did. There are no hook-ups, but there is plenty of quiet and dark skies. We enjoyed our night there and the Very Large Array. We'd certainly stay again if in the area. It was beautiful camping. - ppalmer21
