We'd driven by this park for a few years but were always on the way to other destinations. But, I recalled the location, on the outskirts of town (away from the traffic for easy entry/exit) with awesome views. I'm so glad we stayed this time. The location is indeed convenient, yet away from the heavy traffic of Taos. The park is situated in the high desert slightly higher than Taos. You get killer views in each direction. Last night several of us stood together outside at sunset to watch the awesome orange glow as the sun dropped beneath the horizon. This is a small park with 19 spaces, plus 4 tent spaces. Most spaces are pull through, very spacious, and landscaped with native plants that add some privacy. Sites are gravel, and each has a picnic table and view. There is a covered shelter in the middle of the park with 3 grills for guests' use. The owner is on-site most of the time and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The facility is secure and built in the traditional pueblo style. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Our favorite Mexican food restaurant is Orlando's. Get there early or be prepared to wait! It's convenient to this RV park. Another great food option is Guadalajara Grill with two locations. The southside location is our favorite of the two. Go to the little village of Arroyo Seco, also convenient to this park. It's cute and gets you away from the busy tourist crowds of Taos. The roads and parking are tight, it could be difficult driving a large motorhome into Arroyo Seco.

We only stayed here for two nights but wished we could have spent more. This campground does not look like much from the road, but once you enter the grounds, it is a true gem. Panoramic views are amazing, the owners are very friendly and helpful, and the facility is overall very well-maintained. There are walking trails out into the desert, a very nice gazebo area with barbecue girls, and you are just a short ride down the road from a microbrewery which we visited. We are looking forward to staying here again when passing through. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The microbrewery just down the road is worth a visit. Also, if you have an afternoon (and a vehicle), drive through Taos, up to Angelfire, and then continue up to red River and back down to Taos. It is one big loop and well worth an afternoon of travel. Beautiful scenery through the drive. Also visit the Vietnam Memorial Museum in Angel fire when passing through.

Overall Rating:

We had an electric only site, which was the only site available, but was reasonably priced. This place fills up every night - make a reservation! Great location near Taos, but removed from the traffic and crowds. As others have said, incredible views and wonderful owners. At check-in I got more maps and info about the area than any other place I've camped. Such a pleasant start to the experience here! Very spacious sites, although dry and dusty - as is all of NM. Cute little landscaped areas. Covered pavilion with a huge charcoal grill and smoker available for use. Owner mentioned that they have wonderful well water, tested monthly. We usually buy our drinking water, but this was some of the best tasting water I've had. Because we were at an electric-only site we filled our fresh water tank and enjoyed the water all the way home. Definitely a place to which we will return! We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The "mother-ship" (flagship) Taos Mesa Brewery is about a mile away. Located in an old airplane hanger. They have outdoor concerts regularly. We could faintly hear one night's show of Cuban music - gorgeous! The Earthship (eco-homes built into the ground) community is also not far and worth a visit.

Overall Rating:

I spent two nights at this park, which is in a beautiful area just northwest of Taos. The view of the mountains in all directions and the sunsets were wonderful. During check-in I dealt with a very friendly person who provided a very thorough explanation of all the park features and a willingness to inform me of points of interest in the area. My pull-through site was adequately level and the roads were easy to maneuver. Water and electric hookups were conveniently located. The sewer connection was toward the back of the site, which might accommodate trailers and 5th wheels better. As I was only spending two nights and arrived with near-empty tanks, I did not need the sewer. The WiFi worked very well and I had a clear sky for my rooftop satellite. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. I will likely return. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lots to see and do in the Taos area. Enjoyed the plaza area and lunch at La Cueva Restaurant. The scenic Rio Grande Gorge bridge is about 5 miles west of the RV park.

Owners/management were very friendly and helpful. The views of the mountains from this area are amazing. This park is quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed staying outside of the busy town of Taos and yet felt it was very close and convenient to get to town, as well close to the Rio Grande Gorge and other attractions. There is a walking loop at the west edge of the park, which was nice to have available. We would stay here again. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great views and sunsets. Make a reservation as it is small and intimate. Owners are really friendly and on site always. This is their baby and they treat it and you as such. They have candy in the shop, but this is not really for you as the young Indians come in and they give it to them. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Don't miss the Milicent Rogers museum. Very well done with lots of exhibits and important indian artifacts. If you are very curious, there is a alternative, off the grid set of homes nearby that are highly interesting to tour. Nowhere else in America.

Overall Rating:

Monte Bello is intimate (about 2 dozen sites) but the sites are roomy and the views are grand in a great location on the outskirts of Taos. The utility setup in our site was a bit awkward, requiring some long extensions that, perhaps, not everyone carries with them. The men's and women's bathrooms are both one-holers so you could end up waiting a bit. There is a very nice common area for grilling and there is a locked security gate the guests can access with a key code. Wi-Fi was fair. Of course, this is a high desert so there are no trees and both the roads and the sites are hard packed gravel. This is definitely a nice place in a great location with friendly, attentive hands-on owners. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Only 19 sites and 3 are just E/w. Just outside of Taos with fantastic views. I would have rated a 10 except only one bathroom each for men & women, but it was very nice. Depending on your vehicle you may need longer hose and elec. cord for hookups. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a awesome RV Park just outside Taos. I was only going to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. The owners and hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The restroom/showers were spotless. The on-site store has a wide variety of basic essentials. The view of the prairie and mountains is impressive. The connecting trail is perfect for a morning or evening walk. This will be my goto site when I'm near northern New Mexico. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Located a few miles outside the hustle and bustle of Taos. Easy drive to get into town and convenient to get to Taos Ski Valley for wonderful hiking. There is one clean shower/restroom for men and one for women, but we never had a problem getting in. Small gated park. Very nice and clean. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. This small park northwest of Taos is well maintained, with friendly staff and attention to detail. It's on a mesa in the high desert so don't expect trees. However there are many drought tolerant plantings between sites, and as a gardener I was impressed with how thoughtfully chosen and well cared for they were. Wind, alas, is inevitable in New Mexico in the spring so the park was windy during the day, but not dusty. Small but pleasant laundry. Lending library of books and magazines. Small but well stocked little store. Large spaces between sites. A large and well built covered group area with several grills and nice tables. Some private covered eating areas with their own tables, and walls. Maybe they can be rented? They were numbered. A nice walking trail into the desert. There is much to do in Taos, and lots of nice restaurants. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Loved this park and would definitely stay here anytime I am in the area. All sites are wide pull throughs. Very easy to get around the park in our 40' MH. Plenty of room for the MH and an F-150 pickup at all sites. Not all of the sites are FHU but we were lucky to get one for 8 nights. We had no trouble getting our satellite. We have our own WIFI so I cannot comment on that. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Mountain views everywhere you looked. Excellent location for seeing the sights. Nice RV park with large and wide level gravel pull-thru sites and large internal roads. They have FHU's of both 30 & 50 amp. Picnic table. Excellent WIFI even when the park is full. Park is very well maintained. Amazing views of mountains and terrain in between park & mountains. No cable but lots of local stations via antennae. Friendly owner and staff. EZ check-in. Security gate and fence. Nice walking trail around park. Quiet. Beautiful sunset & sunrise views. At night it's very dark and a multitude of stars pop out! It's beautiful! It's like you are in the middle of nowhere yet with full hook-ups! Only downside is that it's on a mesa that gets some strong winds at times. I definitely would stay here again if in this area. Taos Pueblo (13th century Pueblo homes where people still live as did before) is great and definitely worth seeing! Kit Carson home, museum, and gravesite is downtown, along with historical plaza and buildings. Royal Gorge Bridge is near as are the Earthship houses. Taos Mesa Brewery is right up the street. Enchanted Circle is a drive well worth taking (about 84 miles). San Francisco de Asis 18th century church is on the other side of town-be sure to see the Mystery/Miracle Painting.

This is a basic but very clean RV park. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. The gravel pull-through sites are quite spacious, but being exposed in full sun on the top of a windy mesa doesn't lend itself to sitting outside enjoying the day. It's a good place to stop for a few days but it's not special enough to spend a month or two. One huge positive is the mile-long walking loop out the back of the RV park. It's a nice amenity for both dogs and humans who'd like to get out and stretch their legs in the desert. I'd keep an eye out for snakes in the summer though.
