Rate stated is based on weekly rate. Daily rate for water & electric is $30. Nice dump station. Dry camp rate is $10. Most sites are 30 amp with random 50 amp sites. Security patrol at night. Five different camp areas. Area 1 is a paved parking lot. Areas 2-5 are gravel. All sites are reasonably level. All sites are back in but when we were there we were allowed to park parallel to the fence as we were the only one there most of the nights. Next to a casino so there was some noise on weekend nights. Otherwise very quiet at night. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Salmon Ruins and Heritage a Park, Aztec Ruins National Monument, Chaco Culture National Historic Park, and Shiprock Peak are all worth while. Was disappointed in Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness area. Easy day drive to Monument Valley. Four Corners Monument is NOT a National Monument so charge is $5 per person.

This is a surprisingly under-appreciated gem in the four corners area. As others have said, it is a collection of parking lots (some paved, some gravel) in the fairgrounds. There are water and electric hook ups around the perimeters and along fences in the center of some lots. We stayed here for five days and for the entire time we were literally the only RV parked in the entire complex. We parked in a "hook up" site but did not use them because we have solar. If we would have run out of water, a spigot was a few feet away. We had a fairly nice river and bluff view, 24-hour security patrols, very quiet nights and reasonable access to stores and other services. All-in-all this was a fabulous bargain and a very nice place to stay for a few nights or longer. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Farmington is one of the closest places to Chaco Canyon. The park is a 1-1/2 hour drive, the last 14 miles of which is gravel road, some quite bad. It is one of the most significant archaeological site in the UW and a beautiful, remote place to visit. Plan on a full, long day.

Overall Rating:

This is a clean, quiet campground, at least where I was in section 5 at a beautiful spot next to the San Juan River. I had the whole section to myself, probably because most people are smart enough not to pay $30 for just electricity. (Water was turned off for the season.) Sites are unshaded, near-level dirt and gravel with utilities at the back. Sites are fairly close together, but since no one else was there they let me park parallel to the fence. Roads are asphalt or gravel in good condition. Interior roads are a maze. They gave me a map when I checked in, but the street names aren't on the map. Another section has sites on asphalt, which would probably be better in wet weather. WiFi is strong in the office (building 1). I measured 3896.6 kB/s down. WiFi is not available at the sites. Verizon LTE is strong but sometimes slow. There are two accessible showers next to building 3. Staff are friendly and helpful. Credit cards are accepted with about a $2 surcharge. A free dump is available. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Motorhome.

This makes a nice stopover, particularly if there isn't an event going on at the fairgrounds. It is basically several asphalt parking lots with water & electric hookups along the perimeters. Most are 30 amp, but some 50 amp. My site was reasonably level. The park provides 24-hour security and the staff makes check-in very easy. I have stayed here in the past when the rate was only $20, which to me would still represent a better value. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Motorhome.

Not much to get excited about. Plain but easy access. No sewer hookup, no wireless internet. Cell service good. Friendly check in. Best layout for the farmington area. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Motorhome.

This is a fairgrounds parking lot. If you need decent place for the night in Farmington it's a good choice. Not much to look at, but you get water and power. We stayed the night on our way to Monument Valley. Avoid early August, unless you're attending the fair. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a huge asphalt parking lot with water and electric around the perimeter. Normally, all are back in with utilities at the rear, but since we were the only ones there, we just pulled along the fence. There are other sites available by the river as well. There is security at night and the casino is available, should you want to eat or donate money. The gal in the office was just excellent, very friendly and helpful. You cannot beat the price for an overnight. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This over 500+ sites RV park resides within the San Juan County fairgrounds which also contains a racetrack, stables, convention center, and casino. There are numerous sites to choose from, the majority have power and water although there are plenty of dry camping sites as well. We were there for the Labor Day Weekend and virtually had the whole place to ourselves. Check-in is at the onsite county office and there is 24 hour security making the whole experience all that much better. We were able to choose any site we wanted and were allowed to park across several sites.

All county employees were very friendly and helpful, and the casino had a nice sports bar and restaurant, where we were able to dine and watch our favorite college play football. 50 amp power and water provided at the site was satisfactory, didn't use onsite bathrooms or showers. The entire San Juan County facility was very well kept and for a nominal $20 nightly it was a great overall experience. Of course there are other RV parks in the area, but having literally acres and acres of un-occupied, tree-lined sites to choose from, some right along the river, I can see no other place to stay for future visits to the area. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Travel Trailer.

If you're in the Farmington NM area and wondering if there will be any place that will have room for you and your RV, McGee Park will probably be able to get you in. They have 576 sites with power and water and an additional 200 sites for dry camping. We spent 6 days here and loved it. We had a site down by the river. In fact we had about 2.5 sites because they told us that the view would be nicer if we just parked sideways to the lines they had drawn to mark the sites. The power boxes are different in that they either have a 30 amp and 20 amp hookup or a 50 amp and 20 amp hookup. I didn't find any 30/50 plugs in the same box. The 50 amp sites are scattered around the complex just look for the box with a 240 volt sticker they are generally near the power pole and meter panels. If there's nothing going on at the fairgrounds they leave 2 handicap bathrooms open for showers. If something is going on they have large shower rooms to handle the dirty masses. If you get there during business hours you can pay with a credit card, cash, or check in the office. If you are there on weekends or after hours you can pay with cash or check. There is a small fee for using credit cards that the county charges to recoup cost. There's not much in the way of shade at the sites no fire rings and few picnic tables. Most of the sites are paved but the ones in Area 5 down near the river are gravel with gravel roads. We had problems with mosquitoes in the early evening and I imaging during the summer it could get bad. If you are here when they are near capacity the sites will be pretty close together. They had a dog show, horse races, and a carnival going on when we were there on a weekend and there was no crowding issues. As mentioned in previous post they have onsite security that patrols at night, a sheriffs substation and a fire station on the same property. We'd stay here again in a heart beat. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Chaco Canyon is a 144 mile round trip from here and this is one of the closest places to camp. Great base for exploring the 4 Corners area. During the season they have horse racing on weekends, a casino, and who knows what maybe going on when you get there in the exhibition halls.

With over 450 sites, there is almost always room a this nice RV parking area at the San Juan County Fairgrounds. Level gravel parking, with electric and sewer at each site, and an easily accessible dump station, and for only $20 a night. The office staff was very friendly, sharing information about places to visit and road conditions, and the 24 hour security is a welcome addition. There are some sites down near the river and a large pond, but we avoided that area since we stayed during a rare rainy time for New Mexico. A few miles to town with all the services, and a good base to visit Chaco Heritage National Monument and the four corners area. We will definitely stay here again. Easy access to the site.

No sewer, but good dump station.

Level sites, very quiet when we were there, with several pleasant river or lakeside hookups, which took you away from the activity on the fairground

Staff very pleasant, 24 hr security.

Nicest place we found to stay in Farmington, not likely to get booked out, with over 500 hookups.

We would definitely stay here again.

We did not use the shower/toilet, but overall the center and offices were kept clean. We camped at San Juan County Fairgrounds (McGee Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Large paved parking lot, 50 amp only next to power boxes, otherwise 30 amp. Showers and restrooms are not visible from sites, need to ask directions when paying a fairground office. Sites available only when there is no other event being held. Sites are all back-in but you can get away with parking parallel to actual site most of the time. Good for a couple of days.
