This park has allowed older full time rigs to give it a rag tag look. it was easy to navigate the park and find our pull thru full hook up site but the ill kempt cluttered spots made it look unappealing everything worked and it is convenient for an overnight but not where I would stay if I were visiting the area - Bruce and Janette
Jul 2016 - $34.00
A small park with mostly full timers. Booked here because the park I usually stay at was full. I was told I would have plenty of room for my 41 ft fifth wheel. I had spot 76. It was just long enough for the trailer but so close to my neighbors that my slides almost touched theirs. Just a dirt lot with some gravel stayed just 3 days and moved on. Also very windy and about 25 miles from downtown. - Mrrocko
Jun 2016 - $22.00
Park is nothing to write home about. We took the "Auxiliary" spot right next to the bathrooms/showers. We had to pay extra for our small dogs (2) even though we are diligent to pick up after them, while others apparently aren't. There's a small clubhouse with TV and pool table. It looked like most RVers were permanent residents. But, it provided a place to hook up for the night. - DesignoSLK

We booked this RV Park several months for the Balloon Festival. It was about the only one left. It was nice tho. It’s not a five star, but it was fine for us. You will have to level your RV or motorhome. The water was on the opposite side and we barely reached it. Sewer was ok but not quite angled enough to empty out tanks. It took awhile. There are some full timers that would fly thru there way faster than five miles an hours. We had to make a complaint on that, dust flew everywhere. The workers are so nice and helpful. I did laundry and there were four washers and dryers and they all worked. $1.25 for wash and $1.00 for 40 minutes on the dryers. I hiked around the park and really enjoyed the scenery. - Sheila Rosson
Jul 2018 - $6.00
Nice park that the employees are working very hard to improve. We stayed for two weeks and could see the employees working very hard. You can clearly see they take pride in their work. The park still has improvements to be made but we had a very pleasant and enjoyable visit. Water was just fine we drank it and used it for washing clothes. Water pressure was good. Dead trees need to be taken out. - okiegals
Apr 2018 - $1.00
As stated before, this is NOT a resort, but be prepared to pay the resort fee. The website shows a beautiful office building with fence and hand rails; we'll they're not there now. Very misleading photographs. If you like dust, this is the place for you!! Even though the speed limit is 5 mph, residents and employees drive at excessive speeds throwing up dirt and dust on the terrible rough roads.....a real challenge getting a large motorhome in and out. The entrance to the park.....well, we missed it and had to turn around and even then, the sign showing the way was small and on the ground. Laundry facilities, all four washers worked, and only 2 of the 4 dryers worked. The signage to get to your site was terrible. Actually had to go to the top site, and figure out which side of the road the sign belonged on so as to not park in the wrong spot. The water here is terrible. Our TDS tester showed TDS to be around 400, it should be at 006. Water pressure was low, 50 amp power had the correct voltage. Figuring out where to plug in, and where to dump in a full hookup site...well, you have to use your own best judgement. Close to Albuquerque shopping. - simonsrf

This campground is perfect for a one night stay. The staff is very friendly. Bare minimal sites but accommodates rig and tow with no problem. Near a town for a bite to eat. Would return if in the area. Our site was very muddy with patches of snow and ice. - NPC
Sep 2018 - $49.00
No trees, no picnic tables, seemingly lots of long termers, no cable l, nothing to encourage you to sit outside (own chairs) or cook outside (provide own table for setting grill on). Strictly a 1-night pull through place. Site not very level but hook-ups are fine. - Uwe
Oct 2017 - $35.00
First Impression: CG is one, big, downhill. Sites are either on level steppes or they're tilted. East side showing expansion work. Safety: No concerns. Access: I-40, Exit 187, head south to traffic light at Route 66, turn left, about ¼ mile to CG. Municipal road in good condition, fair signage, Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: Looks like a derelict building. Didn't have to go in - owner came to me. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations not available. No price discounts. Facilities: No pool, spa, fitness room or rec center. Small, clean laundry area next to restrooms. Two, gender-neutral restrooms with PAY showers ($4 for 12 minutes - quarters only and no change machine), modern, clean, no mold, hot water with good pressure (score "A"). No propane sales. No playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter. Few trees. Interior roads are wide dirt/gravel in fair condition with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and long coach friendly. Prevosts shouldn't have problems. No tent area, yurts, or cabins. Sites are all nearby, sufficiently level but not necessarily flat, dirt/gravel, pull-through and back-in, desert landscaping under development by new owners. Utility locations are all over the place. Electric (20/30/50) and water in middle with sewer way-out-back; metered for long term. Adequate water pressure but with a strange (unknown) taste. Sewer pipe is 4" unthreaded, at ground level. No patios, no picnic tables. Fires not permitted; no fire rings. Good satellite views. No cable TV. Free Wi-Fi with excellent coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 4 bars; 4G at 3 bars. No recycle bins. Noise: No railroad, aircraft, or local traffic, but CG is adjacent to the interstate. Bug Report (mid October): small black ants. Runners: CG roads poor for running. Yoga: no good place to put your mat. Conclusion: Score 5-Acceptable, IMO overpriced. - StephenK

Roomy quiet sites but few with 50amp and/or sewer. Good cell but really poor wifi and no over the air tv due to rural location. Well kept grounds, mostly level sites, picnic tables and charcoal grills for each site. - Mrfixitct
Jun 2017 - $15.00
A nice park located off State 14 a mile from the entrance to Sandia Park, where the ski basin is located. It does have gravel roadways and mostly level gravel sites. My site was long enough for my 40' Class A and my 18' car hauler connected. Grass patio with grill and picnic table. Sites are shared with neighbor's patio on your patio side and back to back on opposite neighbor in an alternating parking pattern. FHU connections are close by. This is my second time here, which means it was good enough to return. Our rate is based on a monthly rate since we stayed for 5 weeks total. Electric is metered on long term site or a flat $90 fee for using a daily rate site for the month (which is what happened to us since no long term site were available during our stay. Office staff is super friendly. Easy access to Albuquerque and Santa Fe amenities. Cooler weather at almost 7000 feet elevation. - kihei7
Jun 2017 - $33.00
Beautiful location in the foothills of the Sandia mountains. Good location 5 miles off of I-40. Easy access. Very quite location. Old RV park but overall well kept. Laundry has been inoperable since we arrived for the month of June. It has been a good experience. Will be back. - RB-KB

This KOA is Owned by KOA Corporate, I-40 Traffic Noise, Great Shopping Within 2 miles, Open, All Paved Roads - Very Expensive - Kinda of Tight in some areas. Had 5 bars of AT&T Data & good cellular. Good Dish Satellite & OTA Reception. Stayed here to visit the National Museum of Nuclear Science & Have my puppy groomed at PetSmart. New Mexico has some of the highest lodging taxes in the country at 13.9%. - Lugnuts
Oct 2018 - $50.00
I will start with my complaint. Once your off the interstate there were no signs directing you the campground. There was a HUGE sign on the interstate for that exit but then NOTHING. Having to search for the campground driving a big rig and towing a car was not fun. It was your typical KOA. Sites very close together like sardines, little shade. The place was clean and well landscaped. Laundry was clean and priced reasonable. $2.25 wash $1.75 dry. Pool looked clean. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Some highway noise but it did not seem bothersome. I stopped for one night to dump, get water and do laundry before going to the Balloon Fiesta. The area did not seem safe at first because all the apartment complexs and housing developments had locked gates. The campground was gated and had a guard stationed at the gate. I felt very safe walking to the laundry late at night. - camper19709

Typical of Air Force FamCamps, overall in need of maintenance on just about everything, overall good FamCamp but not great. If you have an RV over 30 feet you will need to use the Truman Gate (24/7) located on the north side of the the base, off of Gibson Blvd. Smaller RVs can use the Eubank Gate (24/7) located on the east side of the base just off of Eubank Blvd. The newer section has large wide sites using common FHUs between the sites. There's absolutely no shade in the newer section. Signage here is horrible. I had to park in the area just south of the newer sites and walk around to find the office. The office is closed on weekends. There are instructions at the office for after hours check in. When arriving after hours you can park in any open site that does not have a cone in it. Then fill out the reservation provided at the office, place it in the dropbox, then mark an 'X' on your site on the campground map. You can pay by check or credit card. If paying by credit card go to the office and provide your credit card info. As others have stated if you drive your RV into the last road on the west of the FamCamp you will need to disconnect to turn around if no sites are available. In the older area most of the sites are not really big rig friendly. Dense trees offer good shade but can be a problem with large RVs and slides. Sites 25 through 33 in the older section are big rig friendly. Those sites off some shade and green grass. If you want grass and shade those are the best for big rigs. Sites 25 through 33 share a common power pedestal. Which means on some sites you will need to run you power cord under your RV to the power pedestal to the right of your RV. Be prepared and bring an good extension cord. In sites 25 through 33 every other site has a concrete pad. There is WiFi but almost useless with .71Mbps download, 3.07Mbps upload. Verizon Data 34Mbps download, 16.8Mbps upload. AT&T data 6.90Mbps download, 15.1Mbps upload. Verizon cell service was good. - ETB
Jul 2018 - $18.00
We have stayed here at least 5 times in our 29' Class C since Oct of 2016 and each time the facilities seem worse. We stayed in the older section of the park and the showers were dirty and didn't work correctly (hot water can't be adjusted or turned on). The shower laundry facility needs to be renovated or a new one completely rebuilt. This Famcamp gets a lot of usage especially during the balloonfest. The free wifi works well enough some of the time. - dfcordero

Park was great, spots were huge. Didn't use the shower/ bath but the laundry room was ok. Could use some updating and maintenance. No issues and would stay here again. - Ranger18

We stayed at El Rancho RV & Mobile Home Park for 4 nights while we were in Albuquerque visiting friends & family. NOTE--the entrance is on Zuni.
We had a nice site with water, sewer & 30 amp power & we did not have a problem getting our 27' trailer backed in. The park itself was quiet, clean & the residents were cordial. Wyoming is a main street that had a lot of traffic on Friday & Saturday nights but was otherwise fine.
We found the location to be very convenient for restaurants, the downtown RailRunner station & a nearby dog park that was really nice. We felt that we received good value and convenience & will return to El Rancho on our next visit to Albuquerque. - dawnbmoore
May 2014 - $30.00
We picked this park due to its location close to town and the mountains. The neighborhood isn't the best; we knew that going in, but were disappointed when the manager suggested that we not walk our dogs in the neighborhood. He reassured us that the park was safe with one entrance/exit that is monitored. As a prior military guy who lives on site with his wife and family, I believed him. We felt very safe, and after investigating moving, we decided that the dogs could sacrifice their usual long morning walks since this place was so convenient and the price was reasonable. The manager was super nice. He asked us to call when we were close so that he could greet us and guide us right to our spot. He gave us recommendations for restaurants, laundry and sights based on our interest. He gave us a business card so that we could call him if we needed advice. The park was very quiet and other residents were friendly. We walked our dogs around the park in the mornings and several residents came out to say hi...to our dogs and one even gave them treats. Note: the address is Wyoming, but the entrance is on Zuni! There are no laundry, bathrooms or showers on site. I would recommend this place and if ever back in ABQ would stay here again. - MichelleKry
Oct 2013 - $35.00
This park is located just outside Kirtland Air Force Base. Looks like it is not in the best part of town, but that may be misleading. The owner of the park is just great. He will greet you as you enter the park and stand by your window, guiding you very effortlessly into your site. There are mostly permanent residents and you will find a mixture of older and newer RV's. We did not find the sites to be as cramped as another reviewer stated but they are not spacious either. Entirely adequate for a short term visit. We are keeping this park as one of our preferred "spots" in our AZ-OH travels. - KPsunshine

Small campground located right off I 40. Owners have taken over this park 6 months ago. Check in was easy, very friendly and welcoming owners. The campground is not much to look at, dusty dirt road, tight gravel sites. Hookups were good, WiFi, laundry room, and restrooms with showers available. There are no picnic tables or fire pits at your site but there are some tables in the middle of the campground. Good for an overnight stay. - mohocamper
Oct 2018 - $35.00
Called on day of arrival asking for site for one night. Mgr said "nothing available, all full due to Balloon Fiesta". Ask if he could dry camp us somewhere. He said "come on in, I'll find you something". When we arrived he checked his bookings did some juggling and found us a full h/u site. He went out of his way to find us a suitable site. He was very friendly and proud of his campground. He ask my wife to inspect the ladies room/shower and laundry to which she found to be very clean. New power pedestals with clean power, good water and easy sewer connections. OK departure we thanked him again and promised a good review. He says when you can or come by "ask for the fat man". - ov1to

Park is located not too far off I-40, near fuel, restaurants and shopping. We had a pull thru that was long, but narrow, (couldn't put awning out) and level. Utilities worked well and sky was satellite friendly. The manager was excellent, very friendly and he made sure that all was well after we got set up, great service! - ronboett

Overnite stay on our way back to Tucson from back east. The park was quite new and still under construction but it is obvious that it has a lot of potential. Lots of space to walk pets and a big dog park. Very nice utility layout and easy to connect. The park is very well planned out and is on track to be first class with it's facilities. Our host was on the ball, friendly and was awaiting our arrival! Cell and satellite service was good and even ordered delivery pizza from a nearby town. Hope to get back to the area some time and stay here again! Didn't have the opportunity to check the area over and have never been there before. Was a little hard to locate so one needs to be patient and get good directions. Learning a little more about the area and services available would be helpful. - Rick Stephenson

Not my first review of this park, I am here frequently. This is my second stay when it has rained - not good. Earlier in the year I was in with a friend and had to deliver him & his wife to their site, the entire park was flooded. I am in town on business & it's rained two days. I currently have 3-4 inches of water at my front door. I have to carry my dog to and from potty breaks. The park needs to spend some money on gravel for the dirt roads. I'll spend days getting the mud from the 5W & truck. The park needs to spend some money on gravel for the roads the roads. Maintenance has gone down hill, there are goat heads "stickers" every where. - Edd505

We like this park as it is close to my relatives in the South Valley of Albuquerque. We stay here quite often and I see improvement every time we stay. This time there were nice shades over the tables, decorative rock around the area; however, there is still no shade on the trailer! The trains, planes and automobiles will keep you awake though. - Marilynintexas
