The main reason we stayed 2 nights instead of 1, was the great view...the mountains out our window! The usual road to arrive was under repair so we needed to take "Rattlesnake Rd". If you have a real big RV it might be tight going this way and there is a VERY DEEP but small gully you need to cross (10 ft across or so). Owners or managers are very pleasant and helpful but stay out of your business if you don't require help. This park is maybe 10 miles out of Tucumcari and it feels like you're out in the toolies - the scenery is fantastic! Be prepared, there are few and hard-to-see signs/directions. I can almost guarantee you'll overdrive the turns you need to take at least once. Beautiful little park in all. - Jacky11

This is a quiet little gem off the beaten path surrounded by mountains next to BLM land. Check in was casual but efficient and friendly. We were told we could walk in the BLM lands next door and our dogs loved it. Mtn Meadows road was closed just past the RV park so we had to take the big dip in the road. Luckily we have a 24' rig. We would definitely stay here again. We plan to visit the pistachio faeem on our way to Alamogordo to visit the space museum. - Thedogsma
Mar 2018 - $30.00
Do not use Rattlesnake Road! There is steep dry water crossing. Our GPS put us on this road. Use Mountain Meadows Road two miles south of Rattlesnake Road! - NE Travelers

Access to the park is good. Signage was not so good. The sign showing camping that was available at the Petroglyph park was not very visible. A sign saying camping at Three Rivers Campground which is a ways past the Petroglyph site is very visible. FYI the road gets rough a little ways past the Petroglyph Park. Our Garmin GPS was not very helpful either. It asked us to turn into the desert where there was no road. Pavement ends at the park office. The rest of the park does not have any discernible roads. It is a gravel area with sites randomly placed except for the two that have water and power. Our site (13) was the only one we could make our coach reasonably level on. Points lost because the park planner had not thought to bring a level with him/her when designing the sites. Check in was quick and informative. We were not assigned a specific site but were escorted to the RV Section and given the choice of what ever we wanted. Our site came with a covered patio and table. The views of the high desert were very nice. We did get a little road noise but not a lot of traffic around here so no big deal. There are two trails leading to historic sites that we felt were worth visiting. The nights are very dark so star gazing is fantastic. We were also serenaded by Coyotes. We enjoyed our short stay here and would return but we would rather have one of the LEVEL power and water sites for $18.00 night. There are no stores or restaurants within walking distance. - Rollin Ollens
Mar 2017 - $18.00
This campground is a little off the main road, but worth the drive. It is a first come first served campground with only two sites with water and electric. They are both pull through. Each site is about 200 feet long and could easily hold two RVs. The other sites are quite small. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to go and the stars at night are big and bright. Also it is important to note that for the two water and electric sites they do not honor the Senior Pass, or any other pass. Also there is no dump station. - Inigomontoya
Mar 2015 - $9.00
Only 2 sites, pullthru w/water and electric.
The host will accommodate you for dry camping.
This park is isolated! Super quiet, and WOW stargazing.
Show up early in the day and hang around to see what
the host can do fer ya.
Highly recommend! - 1yrfulltime

We supposed Boot Hill RV Resort was just a fancy name for a low-frills RV park, but they deserve the designation. Beautiful park in stunning scenery-Alamogordo is surrounded by mtns. on 3 sides (park is ca. 7 mi. north of town); altitude is high enough (4300'), along w/desert climate, that it gets cold at night. They have covered sites for RVs (some for toads/ tow vehicles) & cute little cabins interspersed among regular back-in sites (every site is FHU; electric is metered except at cabins [elec included]). There's a section for pull-through only. Great opportunities for a long walk. Gift shop; large picnic area w/grills; lots of privacy fencing (& other decorative fencing); nice large, private showers; coin-op laundry w/large-capacity machines ($2 each) & nice bk/puzzle exchange; lots of room to get in & out of nice-sized sites; dog walks & fenced dog runs. Each site has a picnic table. Owners seem to take great pride in the park & are very involved in running it. For beauty & conveniences the park's rates were low, we thought. But before we left, their website showed they had raised their rates dramatically-$100/mo. higher for some sites! (although the office personnel didn't seem to know this, & we were assured that as long as we stayed we wouldn't pay the higher rate). Loved the town of Alamogordo! People & businesses all seemed friendlier than even the usual NM friendliness-we had propane tanks filled at Servi-Gas, & they wouldn't let us pay! They said, 'Just come back when you need a refill!' (The rate they regularly charge was quite a bit less than other suppliers, too.) Downsides: traffic on US54 was very loud; even at the back of the property you heard semis blasting as they passed. Military base in the area has jets passing overhead. Water tasted horrible, even after filtering it, & there was dirt in it. Surprisingly, too, there was such an exclusive, clique-ish-almost unfriendly-atmosphere there that we were really not unhappy to leave. - Full-Time Full-Timer
Nov 2018 - $33.00
All of the park staff were very kind and helpful. It was a little bit out of town but not too far for our family visits. Facilities were clean and well kept. Good dog parks. We will stay here whenever we are in Alamogordo. - RJ56
Nov 2018 - $35.00
Staff was very friendly and helpful. We decided to stay a week to have some repairs (Alamo RV & Truck Ctr) done and to scout the local area. Restrooms were clean as well as the entire campground. Shows pride of ownership. The campground is well laid out and easy to maneuver around and into your space. Pull thru sites were about 90 feet long and can handle most RV's. Swear and water was well planned out with no lines crossing one another. A little noise from the road but nothing that really disturbed my sleep. We will camp here again on our way through. - WalterL

This park has a combination of RVs and mobile homes with a few sites for overnight. The sites were close together but large enough to accommodate the 5er and truck. The sites are all gravel but well cared for, the streets are "chip and seal". This is a great place to overnight if you're just looking for full hookups and nothing else. The price is great for what you get. We have stayed here before, and will stay again when we need to overnight in the area. - Starmaster
Dec 2016 - $12.00
Rate is for monthly stay w/electricity. Alamogordo doesn't offer much in the way of quality RV Parks, but this is a very nice park at a reasonable price. The long, level pull-thru sites have a nice-sized tree for shade, a gravel patio, a table and are staggered to provide a bit of privacy. Acceptable cable TV, some OTA channels, and no obstructions to TV satellites. The WiFi worked well, and we had good Verizon cell/data. Not in the best neighborhood, but fairly quiet and with easy access to the highway with little road noise but frequent barking dogs. Close to Alamogordo's shopping with easy access to Tularosa, Cloudcroft, and Ruidoso. Friendly manager and owner were quick to provide local information. A place we'll stay again. - Meanderman
Sep 2016 - $19.00
This is a great place for $19 (Good Sam discount) per night. The sites are level and nicely landscaped with stone, lava rock and a few trees. Hookups worked and we were provided with a satellite TV box with no deposit. Internet was intermittent but that's what I've come to expect from RV parks. I like the location of this park; right on the main drag near relief route. We first stayed at Shady Grove in 2012 when a lot of the trees were newly planted; the trees have flourished. The office staff was friendly and helpful. - Dirt Biker

This is a newer park that is good for overnight, or visiting the area. It is not a destination park. It is designed for full hookups (w,s,e) We only needed 30A. I'm not sure if there is 50A. I don't know if the office has showers and restroom or not. After hours, the 2nd gate is left open. This is an operating feed and tack business, so during the day there is some tractor/loader noise. It is located about 1 mile West of Hwy 54 on the North side of town. - Elliott

Mar 2018 - $18.00
This park worked great for a 1 night stay. The owner met us at the entrance & led us to our long pull thru site. Site was level & utilities were conveniently located. Electric is metered & the nightly rate includes 20 kwh of useage. Any useage over 20 kwh is charged at 15 cents per kwh. We were over by 3 kwh, but the owner said to forget about it & just come back again. Can't rate park facilities due to just staying overnight. We will definitely stay here again when in Alamogordo. - c lewis

This is a nice little RV park with a great owner! You will be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than owner/manager. The RV park has great signage and great pull throughs. You are close to the highway so road noise is inevitable. I'm fairly sensitive to noise but I found it acceptable enough to sleep very well. The park is clean and safe. We will definitely stay here again. Check Flickinger Theater! They get in some great entertainment. - Dawn and Ron

Our first stay here. We stayed in one of the new deluxe sites in the rear. Very, very nice. The roads are gravel with concrete pads. We had a concrete block patio with a swing, fire pit, table and chairs, light and a propane grill. Unfortunately was too cold to sit outside and enjoy it. The laundry was very large with places to sit and lots of countertops to fold. Everyone super helpful. A staff member showed us to our site, took out propane tanks to fill and then came over and helped me fix something with the propane system. Another one helped me find a piece of wire to secure a bike. Other staff was driving around cleaning things. Another staff member loaned me a cordless drill to install a cabinet latch. They have made a real effort to improve this campground. The older sites have a table with a concrete block divider between sites. - Berrymore

A good stop for us for overnight after visiting White Sands National Park. We needed to do laundry and machines were well maintained and clean. Park staff were very nice and accommodating since we didn't have a reservation. - busyteach
Sep 2018 - $50.00
Nice KOA, well maintained and super clean. Easy checkin with friendly staff. Gravel interior roads and sites, wide enough and level. Sites are separated by concrete walls for privacy (and maybe wind break?) and each include paved patio and nice picnic table. We had WSE and cable, all worked fine. Nice pool, great laundry. We use our own Verizon plan for WiFi (which worked great) so did not attempt to use campground WiFi. This was a good stop for us as we explored White Sands National Monument which we absolutely loved. Would stay here again if in the area. - Janau NC

A manufactured home community with approximately 60 RV sites. Full hook-ups with 20/30/50 amp service. Free wifi with good coverage, nice size swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, two dog runs with grass, laundry on-site, barber shop on-site, and Walmart next door. Roads are asphalt with speed bumps throughout to slow motorists. Sites are flat with large gravel rock with plenty of space to park your tow vehicle. Hookups are easily accessible but I would use a pressure regulator as the water pressure is strong. We would stay here again. - OurNextRVAdventure
Feb 2018 - $30.00
Great park for exploring the area. Very clean, friendly and has both pull throughs for 30 amp and back ins for 50 amp. Great laundry room, hair saloon and clubhouse. Will stay again if in the area. - kate2800
Mar 2016 - $31.00
PROs: This is an all paved park....no grass etc. Therefore very clean. CONs: The sites are very narrow and very short. I circled back and made it on my second try. There was not adequate space to park our pickup. As mentioned the sewer connection is in the very back of the site and would require about 30 feet of hose. I talked to the front desk and she said no one had every complained, but based on other reviews I think others have complained. I got a refund. - Tom-MNAK

This is a self registering park. I called the day I wanted to arrive and asked about availability. There is a board that has pricing and instructions for payment just after entering the park. Access is easy, although you do have to make a U-turn if you're heading east on 70 (from the dunes), but it's an easy U-turn, even for large rigs. The road leading to the park is asphalt as is the main interior. Sites are on gravel/hard packed dirt. Sites are long and relatively level, and will accommodate any size RV. There are both back-ins and pull-throughs. The pull-through sites are double, allowing one RV to pull in facing one direction and the adjacent RV to pull in facing the opposite direction. The sites are angled. There is no shade. There were a few picnic tables around, but I don't believe every site has one. Sites offer full hookups with 50/30/20 amp service at each site. Services worked as expected, but our electric did seem a bit abnormal the day we left. There appear to be a lot of permanents, but the rigs are, for the most part, in nice shape and the park is nicely maintained. There is a laundry room, restroom, and club house. Laundry room was clean when I looked in it; there was no change machine. I didn't check out the restroom or club house. Verizon data and cell worked well. There was an area to walk pets, but no designated enclosed area. We would stay again if passing through the area. - Guinness
Jan 2018 - $25.00
Great park for seeing attractions in the area. Many residents, but still plenty of spaces for short timers. Very easy access, very clean and orderly, good utilities on long pull-thru sites. Nice clubhouse, plenty of close trash cans. No other amenities and, regrettably, no wifi. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. - darwinmoore
Oct 2017 - $25.00
We stayed here in a 21' Travel Trailer. We settled on this park after attempting some primitive camping up the highway closer to White Sands National Monument. The heat got to us, and we decided we needed hookups to run the A/C. After looking online at our options, we decided to check this place out. As others have said, it is more geared towards full time mobile homes and RV's but there were still plenty of spaces for us to use. There is a self registration, which did accept credit card. We paid for 30amp FHU but if you want 50amp it is $5 more per night. No issues with hookups and they even include cable (we didn't try it). We did use the bathhouse and it has two separate residential-style bathrooms with toilet/sink/shower. All were clean and worked well. We felt safe the whole time and had no issues. Probably the best place to stay near the White Sands NM. - sjeuck
