Overall Rating:

We stayed for one week last year and again this year. The second pool and landscaping has now been completed and it is very nice. The paved sites are well spaced and the pads are large, and level, but there is very little shade or privacy. Pavers extend beyond the pad for the picnic table so the sites stay very clean, even in the heaviest rain. Many sites have a decent view of the river. Interior roads are easy to navigate, and provide ample space for maneuvering your rig into your site. It is far busier than last year, and a bit of noise emanates from the bar, which seems to be quite popular with boaters. There is no cable, and wi-fi is not reliable. You can pay extra to upgrade to a streaming service but we did not go for that as the price was prohibitive. We also had to pay for our electric usage, which is a bit silly, since the rate is already very high. I've included the cost of electric in the rate stated above. Firewood is $8 for a small bundle so stop along the way and buy some wood to bring. Restrooms are fairly clean, but not "deep clean". There are two toilet / shower/ laundry buildings. Each building had two toilets and only one shower in each men's and women's room (that's not enough). They are expanding the resort but the construction is away from the main campus so it is not objectionable. Shuttle service into Alexandria Bay is available, which runs several times daily. The one thing that we like best is the location - right on the St. Lawrence River with a lovely view of ocean going ships passing up and down the channel. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take advantage of the many Uncle Sam's Boat Tours originating in Alex Bay. They will pick you up and drop you off at the Resort. If you have a car, drive into Clayton and visit the Antique Boat Museum and walk around the lovely small town.

This is an incredible RV park. Great facilities including laundry, showers, pool and a tiki bar. It is on the St Lawrence River and has a boat ramp and parking area for boats as well as a dock. The sites all have concrete pads that are appear to be level. While the Park is a little pricy, Alexandria Bay is a resort area and is is more expensive than other areas. With that said the Park also has a shuttle and offers wine tours and other local adventures. Today (August 2nd) the shuttle dropped off at the antique boat show. Would I stay here again? Absolutely! We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Lovely situation but for what it costs there are too many negatives. 1. Too many rules. You have to put out rubbish in only a clear plastic bag which for us means buying more different bags. You can't swim by yourself and even worse if you go down with your partner and you are the only two there then only one of you is allowed to swim while the other one is on lifeguard duty. And so on. 2. No cable and for us no OTA TV. 3. No screening between sites, though they are spacious and on concrete pads. 4. You have to pay $10 a day extra for 50A and $5 a day for 30A. Why can't they just do what everyone else does and include it in the price! If there were fewer silly rules and the cost was around $80 then I would have given it 10/10. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a large, clean, well maintained CG. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete with a patio, fire ring and table. There are a few sites on the water. (Plan early if you want one of these sites) There is a grocery store within walking distance of the campground. There is a dog park, play ground and a large area for walking the dog or for kids to play ball. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Busy on weekends. Intermittent WiFi. Good utilities. Nice view of the St Lawrence River. Good place for the dog to swim at the boat ramp. Great Friday night food truck walleye dinner. We didn't partake of the bar or pool. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

A nice campground on the banks of the St Lawrence river. Tended to be a bit raucous in the early evenings especially when the weekenders came in. There was also a motorcycle rally going on for part of our stay. Asphalt entrance road with dual arrival lanes. Gated access with key card but gate was open most of the day. Mostly two lane, mostly asphalt (some gravel) interior roads. No issues with big rig access. Sites have reasonable separation and are mostly level with concrete pads, paver patios, gravel driveways, and grass between sites. Picnic tables and fire rings. Minimal views of the river unless in riverfront sites which are in higher traffic areas (e.g. the food truck and party pavilion). Power, water, sewer OK. No issues with satellite access from most sites. Campground wifi was rather flaky - at times it wouldn't connect, at times it wouldn't hand out an ip address, at times random disconnects. When it worked it was mostly fast. There was supposed to be a free slower option and a couple of paid options for streamable connections. We never saw the login page until the very end of our stay and it had no options for service and kept looping back to login page. It seems this was a work in progress with good concept, but currently weak implementation. We had both Verizon and T-Mobile available, but I seem to have misplaced my notes on them. Good recycling on site, but they were in the process of changing from accessible bins to bins behind a fence. New system this year of colored bags picked up at campsite. Good road bike rising from the campground. We might stay here again. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Absolutely the nicest campground we have ever stayed in, from the east coast to the Rockies. We had a waterfront pull in site and loved watching the ships go by. The entire staff as well as the owner who is there frequently are very friendly and accommodating. Nice marina with rental boats available. 2 nice pools and a fun tiki bar. The Friday night fish fry is not to be missed. This was our second time here and we are currently booked for the same week through 2021 as well as a return trip this fall. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Initially we were assigned a site close to the river. We asked to be moved as this site was very muddy due to recent rains. Second site was dry and still had an OK view of the river. The campground is very pretty and clean. Spaces are large and easy to get into. Roads are wide and easy to navigate (we had a 45' motorhome). Park rules said we had to drop our small utility trailer in the trailer lot. This was easy to do and kept the park uncluttered. The wifi didn't work the first day, but was excellent the next 4 days. We lost power, as did others we were traveling with for 6 hours one day. Our friends had their auto gen start set, but we didn't. We had left the AC units running as it was hot. Our batteries were almost ruined by the time the power came back on. The park was only half full at the time. I don't know if it was a park issue or a power company issue, although some people in the campground did not lose power. By the way, the quoted price does not include a $10 adder if you use 50 amps ($5 for 30 amps). No we didn't get a refund for the 50 amps adder. Even though the wifi had issues and we almost had to replace our batteries, I'd stay there again. The park is that pretty. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

The park was everything we needed for a week in the Thousand Island region. All of the sites include a concrete pad and a picnic table on pavers. The campground is right on the St. Lawrence river. We had a water view premium site. The campground is open, so don't expect privacy. Grass between all of the sites. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Critically chose to stay at this location for ability to have a consistently decent WIFI connection.... (had very important insurance claim situation that needed an internet connection to work through passing / sending documents) asked about that prior to booking the reservation, and was told they have WIFI throughout park. In reality during our stay which spanned over three days time, there was only WIFI for one hour on one morning. Office staff claimed that they did NOT have a problem (that it was an issue with my computer and we needed to reboot.) Also claimed that we were the only ones with this problem. Office said that if what I say was true, then there would be 100 people in the office complaining about it. After talking to many fellow campers, we learned that NONE of them had been getting any WIFI from the campground for days. Then the office changed its tune and said that there had been a storm a couple of days back that knocked service out. Swan Bay did not offer any compensation for the lack of internet. When we stay at an inexpensive $30 park with WIFI, we know it may well be slow and maybe spotty (although many of those parks actually have had excellent WIFI)- HOWEVER, when spending over $100 per night, there truly is no excuse for prolonged outages. And if there ultimately IS a prolonged outage of service, some sort of compensation is indeed in order for the customer. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest facilities we have visited. All sites are quite large and well spaced. Each pad is level concrete with a paver extension under the table area. Fire pits were lined with stones, a nice alternative to the usual truck tire ring. Navigation within the park is good with easy back-in or pull-into sites. The marina is attended during the day, with clean docks and convenient boat rentals. Wi-Fi was unusable for three of the five days of our stay. They said it was due to volume, but the facility was only about half full during the outage. It started working properly at the end of the third day of our stay. Firewood was pricey - $8 for a small bundle. There are several roadside stands along the local roads selling similar bundles for $4, so consider buying before you arrive. Restrooms / showers were very clean. Cabins looked modern. The pool is small but they are adding another (also small). Our site was "waterfront" and we had lovely views of the St. Lawrence River and the passing ships in the channel. Our site had a large shade tree that was useful in the afternoon but most sites are in the full sun. You can see the river from most sites and it is an easy walk to the marina area. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and plan to return again next season. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Alexandria Bay is about 4 miles East. Uncle Sam Boat Tours will pick you up at the Swan Bay front gate, take you directly to Alexandria Bay and bring you back at your convenience. Be sure to visit Clayton, a small town just West of Swan Bay. Clayton is a very walkable town, with plenty of restaurants and small shops, a nice boat museum and a well stocked Ace Hardware store. There is a large new hotel in town that adjoins a beautiful park and riverwalk with great views of passing ships.

This is a beautiful, convenient park very near the border crossing. There is a grocery store right next door and gas station across the street. The park is located on the St. Lawrence River, but most of the sites have a rather narrow view. It was convenient to the city of Alexandria Bay and thus the tourist amenities offered. The pads are concrete with gravel roads nicely maintained in the newest part. It was expensive and the cost of 50 amp service ($10.00 a night) is added to the nightly rate. Has a nice boat ramp with nice rentals, a nice pool, and tiki bar. We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Motorhome.

Lovely park. Clean, clean clean!! Met wonderful people who we plan on meeting up with this winter. Sad there's no cable. Even the cheapest parks we've stayed in have had cable. WIFi not good for us either. Very slow. No warning of the construction going on right behind us! But we didn't find that highly problematic. Beautiful views, generally good service...exception was one worker who was rude about helping with WIFI connection. We would come back! We camped at Swan Bay Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The price was for a waterfront site and it was indeed on the waterfront. It was a pull in and offered great views of the St Lawrence. Often saw the big ships pass while looking out the front windshield. There is paving throughout the park and the sites were nice and wide. WiFi was very good. There is a Tiki bar at the pool which we tried out on the one nice day we were there. This is a fun park and we would stay again if we're back in the area.
