Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park back in 2012 as an overnight stay. The pool at that time was really nice. Now fast forward to July 2019, not much has changed with this park in the 7 yrs it took us to return EXCEPT the pool. They took out the really nice pool and put in a wading pool, meant for small children. It's a walk in pool that only goes up to 3 ft. with a sitting bench along the edge. I don't pick places on just one amenity but in this case I can't justify spending 65.00 dollars a night when I can get more wet in my shower than I could in the pool! Other than the pool situation this is a very nice campground in a very nice area of Western New York. The sites are somewhat level, for a KOA they are huge, lots of green space between each site, no issues with the services (water and electric) in the section we were in the roads were dirt/rock mix and it was a little dusty at times when folks drove by. Big fire rings and the staff worked very hard keeping things picked up. Our site had no trash anywhere even the fire ring was cleaned out! We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Just about anything around Lake Chautauqua was fun and interesting to visit. Lucy Desi museum, Chautauqua Belle cruise, Bemus point driving around the lake nice and relaxing. Not enough time to visit Midway State Park.

Overall Rating:

Price reflects KOA value member discount of one free night. Entrance to camping area is gated. You must push a button and give site number so they can raise the gate. They do escort you to your campsite which I think is a great idea since some of the roads are one way. Large park with mostly permanent and seasonal long term spots at the front which makes it feel more like a mobile home park. Newer area at back feels more like campground. The bathrooms are complete with private shower in each one. There were 4 units in each. Really nice if you had small kids that you would like to keep together. Laundry room and bathrooms were very clean. Pool was closed. Didn't use play areas or mini-golf but the areas were very well maintained. Mostly gravel roads but easy to navigate. The park is not on the lake but there is a beautiful view of the lake from one end which has several picnic tables. This park is very well maintained. All sites have a good grassy area, not mud or worn ground. Price without discount would be a little steep for us but the amenities offered for a family with kids makes it a good deal. We would stay here again. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a large but very well run KOA. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. Upon arrival she took us for a quick tour in her golf cart for a look at available sites. We had originally booked a pull-through patio site but, after our tour, we selected a very large back in that backed up to a view of Chautauqua Lake. Site was extremely neat and was thick green grass that the dogs loved to lay in. The front part of the park has many seasonal rigs but they are extremely neat and the residents very friendly and helpful. Trash is picked up at your site all throughout the day. Even though we camped 10 days during the summer, the park was not full. The bath and laundry facilities were top notch. Great playground and pool and several dog parks. Great cable but spotty wifi. This is a great location for touring the Chautauqua Lake region and the Erie Wine Trail. All in all, a great park that we would certainly return to. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Great home base for exploring the Chautauqua lake area and the Erie Wine Trail. Everything is close by and within easy access. Lots of great little towns around the lake. Beautiful wine country with vineyards everywhere. Great meals at Guppies nearby.

Overall Rating:

This park is quite far from Lake Chautauqua; in fact, the lake is just barely visible from the highest point in the park. We camped in a deluxe site, with a paved patio, which was nice because it was a very rainy day. We were near a fairly large number of seasonal campers, but all of their sites were very neat and clean. There is also less expensive camping in the lower field. There was little shade. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

The newer section out in the open is where travelers are placed, seasonals are in the trees. Large sites, level gravel, wifi worked well, utilities all good. A great base from which to explore the Chautauqua Lake region. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

We were in the newer area which seems to be the area for daily campers, rather than seasonals. Most of the sites here are pull throughs. Our site was not long enough for our coach and car, but there were plenty of other sites that were longer. It was gravel and not quite level. We stayed for a week, so unhooking was not a problem. There is lots to do in the area, with state parks and Lake Erie nearby. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Very clean and spacious sites. Disappointed the pool was not opened even though the website says it would be open by Memorial Day (still under construction). A lot of activities for the kids to do. Nice views of the lake, but no lake access from the campsite. I thought the price was high, especially since all the amenities were not available at time of stay. This is a very well maintained KOA, with helpful and friendly staff at check in, we had an escort to our site, which was helpful as the campground is very large. Roads are gravel. Our spacious gravel site was a long and level pull through, and big rig access was good. Very quiet with some privacy and space for our towed. Our site had a concrete patio with lovely patio furniture, fire ring and pretty landscaping, there are some mature shade trees but not every site has them. Views from our patio were fabulous, we could see the valley and Lake Chautauqua and the sunsets were wonderful! This campground has 2 sections of seasonal units, all were kept neat and clean, we were located in the new section, all with pull through and patio sites, well worth the small extra charge for the views alone, however the sewer was way to the back of our RV and did require an extra long hose. The bathrooms were spacious and spotless and the laundries clean and well equipped. This is a gated community and so there is a security gate 24/7 which was very reassuring. Pets have the choice of two K9 Parks, each with doggie bags and disposal stations. WiFi and cell were both good, and there was a daily garbage pickup each morning from your site, which was very convenient. Small local food stores and restaurants are close by in the small towns around the lake, and of course plenty of sightseeing. We would stay here again, the owners and manager have done a great job of making this a first class campground. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Fair in/out up on top of a scenic hill with a small view of a bit of the lake. Lovely rolling countryside and reasonable access to the two major interstates in the area. A very clean and well maintained KOA with lots of services for the large population of resident campers. Not much for stores or restaurants anywhere near the site, so bring your own stuff. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A beautiful, northwoods atmosphere and an immaculate camp. Very limited stores in the mostly resort neighborhood. Long distances to any towns for shopping needs. Many permanent residents during the summer season, but our overnight visit found it largely closed for the fall so it was very quiet.

An outstanding park. There are two sections of seasonal units and a new section with all pull through and patio sites. The sites are well spaced and the facilities are first rate. The owners are engaging and keep a tight leash on those who fail to uphold the family campground rules. This park is on par with KOA company owned parks. We have stayed here a couple of times and love it. The owners clearly care about their campers and their park. Everything was clean and neat. The bathrooms were spotless and modern. The sites were some of the biggest we have stayed in. The sunset--stunning. We took a dinner cruise on the lake on the advice of the owner, and it was great. Our pups loved the large Kamp K9 run around area. Fantastic stays. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

The grounds are beautiful, with mature trees, level gravel sites and multiple, well-appointed and modern bathhouses. This is a large park with views of the nearby lake from some sites. This is a large, fairly new park that appears to provide a seasonal vacation getaway for many, as there are a large number of park-model type homes, and a large number of RVs of many types with permanent decks, patios and storage sheds, all of which were in good repair. The wifi was free and the signal was strong at our site. The only negative we found was the shower in the unisex bathroom we used. The shower head projected from the high ceiling and directed the water to a spot about 6 feet high on the back wall of the shower. We couldn't adjust the stream because we couldn't reach the shower head. Tall people might be okay using that shower but one of us is only 5' 3" and it wasn't okay. Also, the showers are closed for cleaning from 8 to 10 AM, which is inconvenient for many transients that aren't early risers. All in all, a very nice park, but like most KOAs, the price is higher than the value given. The park was very convenient to the area we visited, so we'd stay there again and just choose a different shower. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay here. The owners were friendly and always out and about in the campground. The upper sections of the campground are older and mostly filled with seasonals, some well maintained, others pretty run down. We stayed in the lower section, specifically the K row. The sites in this area are fairly new and quite large with a gravel parking area for both your camping unit and extra car. All the lots in the lower sections are grassy, although there is not much shade. The lower sections are quite a walk from the pool, playground, store, etc., but owners are willing to pick you up on the golf cart. This campground is a convenient for visiting the Lake Erie Wine Trail and the many state parks in the area. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Big warning: DO NOT use mapquest directions to find this place, simply STAY on 430 north off of I-86 and take towards Dewittville. Big bright KOA sign on the right, just before you reach town. Super friendly host and guides to site, and though the in and out sites had no landscaping and just located in an open field, we had a nice glancing view of the lake and a nice wide site. Bath house was super clean and looked very modern and almost spa like. Individual restroom/shower area with all the amenities. Only bad thing, as it did not go with the quality, was the push button shower (which does not bother me much) but the no way to adjust temperature was not appreciated. Way too hot. The other bad thing was the electric hookup pedestal. The 50 amp hookup kept tripping our surge protector until it got so hot, we could not use power at all. Finally, let it cool and used our adaptor to hookup to the 30 amp and was fine. Called the office to have them check it, but not sure what the outcome was after we left. We camped at Chautauqua Lake KOA in a Motorhome.
