We stayed at Green Lakes twice this past year. The 8 star rating is for the full hookups at the Pinewoods campground. Widely spaced sites convenient hook ups. Clean rest rooms. Our Verizon and Verizon hot spot worked well. Be careful when booking sites because some of the full up sites are not level. Our motor home front whells were off the ground and we still did not achieve "level". Some of the pull throughs were even worse. You can search for the web site NYScampsite photos and find pictures of most public campsites in NYS. The FHU pullthroughs were paved and the back in sites were hard packed grave. Definitely worth checking before booking. In August, we stayed in the Rolling Hills campground at Green Lakes. Much different review. Probably a 6 star rating. Sites closer together and only a few with 30 am electric. Bathrooms were impossible to keep clean due to the fully booked campground and no hook ups and many tenters. However, they were cleaned everyday. Verizon and Verizon Hot Spot worked well. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Walk around the Green Lakes. There are many miles of trails for walking, biking, etc. Your four footed campers are welcome on most trails at the park, too! Swimming area is very nice and even has a cordoned off lap swimming zone. Rent a kayak or rowboat. You can not use your own due to fears of contaminating the pristine Green Lakes. Have lunch at Brian's Landing at the golf course club house. There is a lovely view of the lake from there terrace.

We Stayed one night at Green Lakes State Park. We made reservations on line with the $9.00 handling fee which brings the real cost of the campsite to $29.00. Knew very little about the area and picked the campground as a convenient stopover from planned destinations. Beautiful campground and easy access to out site in the Pinewood Campground. They have a mix of site ranging from full hookup to no service. We would of like to have stayed a few days as history and interesting sites are all around this State Park. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very quiet state park campground. This review is about the FHU section of the Pine Woods loop. Good asphalt entrance road with very spacious checkin area. Keep your campground receipt in car for access thru gatehouse during your stay. Interior roads mostly two lane asphalt except for the camping loops which were single lane asphalt posted for one way. Sites were a mix of pullthrus and backins with a reasonable pitch from road. No problem with big rig access though care needs to be taken at some spots. Mostly level asphalt sites with grass between the sites and reasonable separation. Picnic tables and fire rings. Power, water, sewer ok. Satellite access depends upon site with sites along southwestern perimeter most likely to have issues. No campground wifi; Verizon ok (misplaced my notes on the specifics); TMobile was 2 bars @ 3.6 Mbps. Some recycle on site (look behind the bathhouse). Great road bike riding. We would stay here again. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Attractive, well maintained park with 30 FHU rv sites with 50 amp service, 4 water/electric sites with 50 amp service, 62 water/electric sites with 30 amp service and 49 primitive sites without hookups, in two camping loops. There are also 7 cabins that can be rented. We stayed in the Pinewoods loop, which is newer and where the FHU sites are located (and the best loop for big rigs). There are several pull through sites which are very long. Decent separation between sites however, most sites have a noticeable front to back slope so bring levelers. Our site (24) was a back in site which was not level but just within capability of the jacks. It was a bit on the short side (had to park the tow vehicle sideways on the pad), but had a very spacious sitting area since it was a corner site. The handicap accessible sites were paved asphalt, and the remainder were comprised of dirt and fine gravel (the kind that gets tracked into your rig) over an asphalt base. Unlike previous reviewers, we did not see any sites that were concrete. Interior roads were paved and in great condition. Bathrooms in our loop were pristine, with 4 private bathroom/shower rooms and 2 toilet rooms per gender. No laundry facilities on site. Park has a very small camp store with a handful of items such as gifts, snacks, sodas and supplies. The park has two small glacial lakes that are a beautiful shade of turquoise. Activities in this park include an 18-hole golf course, several playgrounds, nature center, swimming beach, kayak rentals, concession stand, large day use area, disc golf and upscale (i.e. pricey) restaurant with lovely views. There are many hiking/biking trails throughout the park as well. Large, easily accessible dump station that can accommodate four rigs at once. Utilities worked well and Verizon service was fair. No cable, but we were able to get 30+ OTA channels (although signal was hit or miss). We enjoyed this park and would return. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is 1,756 acres, and you want to stay in the Pinewoods campgrounds. We were in site # P14. It was a large pull thru. There are more rustic forest type sites if you want those, but in Pinewoods, all the streets are paved and so are the sites, with lots of grass between them. The walk around the lakes is great. This place would be a 9.5 if they had wifi. They also don't have laundry facilities here. Plus many of the paved sites are really sloped, so bring extra blocks to get level. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful State Park with two very deep glacier created lakes. Nice shaded walking path around both lakes with a very popular swimming beach on the shallow end of the larger Green Lake. Campground has excellent paved roads and new modern bath houses with individual rooms enclosing an infant changing table, a toilet and a shower. Area is heavily wooded except for a new section in the Pinewoods loop that has pull through full hookup sites. This is our new go to campground when visiting family and friends in the Syracuse area. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Close to Fayetteville mall and just a few miles from Erie Blvd in Dewitt for all types of shopping and restaurants. Across the road from the park is the historic Old Erie Canal with the old tow path used as a recreational trail for miles of walking, running and bicycling in either direction.

Sites were kind of small in my opinion but the facilities were very nice. Even had a fresh water fill station in the way into the park which is nice so you don't have to fill up before arrival. All of the staff that we dealt with was extremely helpful and friendly. There is also a lot to do around the park to keep everyone occupied from fishing to hiking. We also rented a row boat which gave a great perspective of the lakes and the natural beauty. We didn't spend time at the beach but it seemed well maintained and clean. The new section of the park just open late last year. Plenty of room to get the larger units into. Some of the spots will require leveling, but I have seen much worse. Very clean restrooms and a very beautiful park in general. Will definitely stay here again if in the area. The beach at the lake is a must see. This state park CG is as nice as a CG can be. The Pinewoods loop is new and has excellent full hook-ups and level pads (most or all are concrete - not sure about the ones nestled in the woods). The only negative thing is that, if you are using the CG as a stop-over, it is far from the interstate on a convoluted route. The park has hiking trails and a large "beach" with a lake. There is also a nature center. Ideal for walking, jogging, walking your dog, flying a kite, or having a picnic. Just a lovely well-maintained state park with lots of trees and lots of green space. The park itself is gorgeous and very well maintained.

We camped in the Pinewoods loop on site 20. This is a brand new site (opened on July 2016) and it is in impeccable condition. The sites' spacing is just right, there are pull thru and back in sites and the campground is just right off the trail to the lakes. Pet friendly!

The best sites are 2 (back in ) and 12 (pull thru). But you will not go wrong with any other site on the section 1- 24. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a State Park and has budget limitations. They are working on the campground in the woods so we could only go to Rolling Hills area. Some sites had water/electric and others electric only and a few no utilities. We were told we could "only" fit in a certain site though a number of the electric only sites on grass would have worked. I don't think the girl on the desk was a camper or familiar with various RVs, trailers or pop-ups. So our site was on dirt and tree roots, NOT level (we could only put out the bedroom slide), and difficult to get in. Needed extension for electric and second hose for water due to placement of the pedestal. LOTS of families with kids on bikes, walking, and having fun. Lots of folks with campfires in the evening quietly enjoying the grounds. Shower was good. Campground DOES encourage recycling. We would ONLY stay here again if on a more traditional RV site. Perhaps the wooded sites (being rehabbed as of our visit) would meet the need with level pads and FHU. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is close to Syracuse with museums, SU sports, great spots to eat (don't miss The Dinosaur BBQ!), Erie Canal (both the museum and portions of the actual canal) and other recreational and educational opportunities. However, the park itself has two lakes (and golf course) worth seeing. The lakes are very green and deep, the result of glacial melt long ago and no thermal water inversion taking place. Lots of good beach right in the park and wonderful biking and hiking trails.

Beautiful park with lots of activities including sandy beach and lakes. Spacious lots and friendly people. Hiking and biking trails. Close to the Finger Lakes and about 30 minutes from Syracuse.

There are over 65 RV sites here, but only about 23 with electricity. Make your reservations early! There are no water or sewer hookups, but water is nearby, as are bathrooms. We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Roads are paved but sites are gravel at best. Some sites are short. The park is very unique with its two small lakes and many hiking/mountain biking trails. The park has a sandy swimming beach with crystal clear water. Close to Syracuse and gets a lot of day visitors to the beach and trails. This is a great park with lots to see and do. Easily navigated my 40' Pusher in and out with only a few low trees. We camped in The Rolling Hills section again and got one of our favorite sites. My wife came in one night and was marvelling about all the stars she could see as we live where the artificial light at night makes it look almost starless. Very quiet park with an occasional far away train whistle to enrich the evening silence. The sites are mostly shaded with lots of grass and some well placed gravel where inconsiderate cheap carpet users have destroyed the lush grass. But, it's a state park, and cheap, so you may have to rough it a bit? We camped at Green Lakes State Park Campgrounds in a Motorhome.
