This is a large campground with many sites. However, it seems to never fill to capacity. There are many beautiful waterfront sites. We camped on #115 which would fit just about ANY RV. As this is a NY State DEC campground there is NO ELECTRIC. You may run your own generator 9AM-11AM and 4PM- 7PM. Water is available to fill your RV and there is a tap about every 10 sites. The only real drawback is that there is only ONE dump station. The head caretaker and his entire staff work very hard to make sure you have a great experience. Fall camping here is just wonderful..! We camped at Limekiln Lake Public Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a short drive into Old Forge where there is plenty to do and, some very nice restaurants. The town of Inlet is only 5 minutes away and has shopping and supplies.

Showers close at 10 p.m.! Showers are in their own building and are open 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. There was a "run" on the showers come 9 as everyone tried to get their shower in before they closed. I usually shower after the kids fall asleep (while someone stays at camp), so this was inconvenient. We would have to either roast s'mores early, or late - after showers. There was plenty of wood you could use for firewood laying around all of the campsites. Bring an ax to chop up some of the bigger pieces (you can't cut trees down, but there were plenty all ready down). There are NO playgrounds. This was our first time in the area and I was not prepared for that. Every other state park we have been to has a playground, but no playgrounds seems to be the norm for that area. Fishing (from a kayak) was okay. Nothing big, but things were biting. The beach area was nice. Parking all over the park was tight, with just small pull off areas. You get phone service in Inlet. We camped at Limekiln Lake Public Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Inlet has a library that has a book sale room. While they do have suggested prices posted, you can pay whatever you think the books you find are worth.

Overall Rating:

Semi remote and hilly campground about 2 miles from the town of Inlet, and 10 miles to Old Forge. Sites are spacious and most are fairly level with many on the lake shore. All sites are heavily wooded and NON-Electric. There are water spigots scattered around and a fill area near the boat launch as you enter campsite area. Park roads are narrow and most are one way making this not so easy for a large motor home or trailer. The lake is beautiful with many Loons and Grebes which make great viewing, and they call hauntingly at night, competing with the Owls. Bears are also in area as we found fresh tracks on beach. The swim beach is sandy and clean, and you can rent canoes and kayaks at $20.00 for 24 hours. Many places to buy firewood nearby. We camped at Limekiln Lake Public Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The towns of Inlet and Old forge are nice but semi-crowded during the summer season. Many hiking/biking and canoeing trails in area.
