May 2019 - $40.00
Attractive, well maintained park with 30 FHU rv sites with 50 amp service, 4 water/electric sites with 50 amp service, 62 water/electric sites with 30 amp service and 49 primitive sites without hookups, in two camping loops. There are also 7 cabins that can be rented. We stayed in the Pinewoods loop, which is newer and where the FHU sites are located (and the best loop for big rigs). There are several pull through sites which are very long. Decent separation between sites however, most sites have a noticeable front to back slope so bring levelers. Our site (24) was a back in site which was not level but just within capability of the jacks. It was a bit on the short side (had to park the tow vehicle sideways on the pad), but had a very spacious sitting area since it was a corner site. The handicap accessible sites were paved asphalt, and the remainder were comprised of dirt and fine gravel (the kind that gets tracked into your rig) over an asphalt base. Unlike previous reviewers, we did not see any sites that were concrete. Interior roads were paved and in great condition. Bathrooms in our loop were pristine, with 4 private bathroom/shower rooms and 2 toilet rooms per gender. No laundry facilities on site. Park has a very small camp store with a handful of items such as gifts, snacks, sodas and supplies. The park has two small glacial lakes that are a beautiful shade of turquoise. Activities in this park include an 18-hole golf course, several playgrounds, nature center, swimming beach, kayak rentals, concession stand, large day use area, disc golf and upscale (i.e. pricey) restaurant with lovely views. There are many hiking/biking trails throughout the park as well. Large, easily accessible dump station that can accommodate four rigs at once. Utilities worked well and Verizon service was fair. No cable, but we were able to get 30+ OTA channels (although signal was hit or miss). We enjoyed this park and would return. - RVIN 24-7
Sep 2018 - $45.00
This park is 1,756 acres, and you want to stay in the Pinewoods campgrounds. We were in site # P14. It was a large pull thru. There are more rustic forest type sites if you want those, but in Pinewoods, all the streets are paved and so are the sites, with lots of grass between them. The walk around the lakes is great. This place would be a 9.5 if they had wifi. They also don't have laundry facilities here. Plus many of the paved sites are really sloped, so bring extra blocks to get level. - Vipermanden
Aug 2017 - $30.00
Beautiful State Park with two very deep glacier created lakes. Nice shaded walking path around both lakes with a very popular swimming beach on the shallow end of the larger Green Lake. Campground has excellent paved roads and new modern bath houses with individual rooms enclosing an infant changing table, a toilet and a shower. Area is heavily wooded except for a new section in the Pinewoods loop that has pull through full hookup sites. This is our new go to campground when visiting family and friends in the Syracuse area. - Appleknocker
Jul 2018 - $25.00
The staff that work there are very disrespectful. They run the campground as if they own it. Do it there way or they will call the ranger on you. Even tell you how to back up a trailer and where to park your vehicle. They walk up on your site without even announcing their presence scaring you. You'd think they own the place. They need some training on how to treat people and be respectful to people.
The park itself has gorgeous views for tenters. RVs and trailers do not have access to any water sites. The bathrooms have a code to gain access. There is only 1 bathroom for the entire campground which seemed sufficient. The showers are quite a distance away located in the day use area of the park. Check what events are going on at the park and boat launch as they tend to start early (6am for fishing tournaments) and it can be quite loud. Also there is a car raceway nearby and you frequently hear the racing noises til almost 11 pm. - jap724
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Campground was nice, but muddy from the rain. But the campground hosts were totally "over the top" control freaks. With selective, uneven enforcement. One wheel on the grass, and they would harass you. Made the stay very uncomfortable. - edandck
Jul 2016 - $35.00
This county park campground is less than a mile from exit 31 on I-81 and is convenient for us to visit friends and relatives in the Syracuse area. The park is located on the southwest shore of Oneida Lake and has an excellent boat ramp, children's playground, ball field, archery range, beach volley ball court and a swimming beach that rents kayaks and paddle boats. The park hosts several fishing tournaments and triathlons including the annual "Iron Girl."
The campground has 30 sites in the woods with no hookups and is occupied mainly by tenters. The 24 sites with water and electric are out in the open on a gravel circle with no privacy or shade. There is a restroom in the camping area but the showers are located about 300 yards away at the swimming area. The showers were clean with lots of hot water while we were here. We would stay again because of the convenient location. - Appleknocker
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Parked here during a rally. Easy access from the freeway. - Mustcamp
Jul 2010 - $35.00
Camped here in a PUP for the Right Coast Car Show and had a good time. I've said that the rest rooms where not clean because it appears some scum bag had spread "crap" all over one stalls walls and toilet & it was not cleaned up the 5 days that I was there. We stayed on the race track infield and the location was great. The ONLY minus was that one stall being munged up! Would recommend! - Star Boy
Jul 2011 - $33.00
Could be a nice campground but Mrs. owner was not friendly at all. How do you expect to work with the public when you have no respect for them. Sorry to say we will not be coming back here neither will the other two campers with our party. We had 3 sites and 3 campers and we all feel the same way about this campground. - Karen and Pat
Jun 2005 - $32.00
All dirt sites, not much grass anywhere. Way to many trees, couldn't even see the sun. Old campground, permanent trailers there hadn't been cleaned up since??? and neither have there sites. Great fishing pond, but has very little access. - PETEALEX
Aug 2017 - $27.00
We've been coming here for a few years now, and have enjoyed the updates. It's a pretty place, well kept and clean. VERY unhappy this year, we made our reservations 9 mos. in advance, when we arrived, much to our dismay, they had removed the water hookups and added a splash park right next to our site. We had to go buy 150ft more hose to get water, and listen to screaming kids from 9am to 8pm daily. We should have been advised of these changes and offered free cancellation or change to our reservation. - MeMe08
Sep 2011 - $29.00
Fairly nice place in the off season, very quiet and lake front sites are easily obtained. I imagine it might be a little crazy in the peak season. Sites are not well marked and confusing, some are low and will be wet/mushy in the rain. The town of Sylvan Beach is 2 miles away with lots of seasonal weeknight events, an old-time amusement park, and several restaurants. Good Verizon coverage. - silvertube
May 2011 - $25.00
Verona Beach State Park has a great semi rustic campground. It's extremely clean and has beautiful views of Oneida Lake and extensive trails. The sites right on the lake are especially nice. There aren't many utility hook ups but most, if not all, of the sites are very easy to access. They have a sandy shallow swimming beach, which the children enjoyed. The the town of Sylvan Beach, NY is very close and has several cute shops and a little amusement park. - Research2011
Aug 2016 - $38.00
I've read some of the other reviews, and while I agree with most of what they say, I can't make it seem like this place is a total sewage dump. The bugs were pretty bad on the back side (stayed across from the tent sites). But the place is surrounded by water, so pretty much expected. Lots of "seasonals", so good/bad, you decide. Showers were closed when I was there, but restrooms satisfactory. The sewage hookup did leave a bit to be desired, and you needed more than one person for it (one to run the plug and another to hold the darn PVC pipe in place). Beyond that, it wasn't THAT horrible. I'd stay there again, if for no other reason than location (I go to Liverpool, NY about once a month). - lyagooshka
Sep 2015 - $38.00
We shared our water connection with 3 other campers so there was a "Y" connection on top of another connection. The electrical hookup was rusted with duct tape over one receptacle. But the worst part was the sewer hookup. It consisted of 15' of PVC pipe laying on the ground which offered little drainage and a terrible smell. The site was a mud hole. Never staying there again! - cooktr
Jul 2015 - $16.00
Rate reflects monthly rate.
The Good...extensive shopping nearby, close to Syracuse, mature trees, nearby lake.
The Bad...Most sites filled with seasonal, many are traffic police. 5 mph speed limit is brutally enforced, even though nobody knows how fast you are actually driving, just "too fast". 2 useless stop signs on property. Don't roll through them. Quiet hours not enforced. Among experiences were drunken cabin people returning in wee hours arguing using f-bomb every other word. Not appropriate for family campground.
The Ugly- our site had a septic tank 10' from our front door and open sewer connection at ground level covered over by a rock 7' from our camper front door. Property flooded 3 times in the 5 weeks we were there. Septic tank became inoperative. Anyone using dump station 50' from our front door would force sewage water out of septic tank on our property onto the ground. Puddle was about 10' in diameter. Open sewer pipe was filled with solid waste. Owners pumped tank twice while we were there, but situation was not resolved. We left the next morning after discovering this. - dthurk
Apr 2019 - $25.00
They just opened for the season so they weren't really open. Power was good, but no cable or WiFi, hadn't been turned on yet. Large grassy site. Lots of semi permanent RVs. Looks to be busy in the summer. - Tredguy
Jun 2015 - $25.00
Stayed at the campground for a week using PA. The campground is well maintained but very outdated. Bathrooms are badly need of overhaul but were clean. Many seasonal campers, but were well kept. Did not see any swimming area. WiFi signal was strong but all but useless. It was extremely slow. Internal roads need repair. Staff was friendly and helpful. - roybrody
Jun 2014 - $37.00
Beautiful campground, friendly staff, well-stocked camp store, and an actual beach with sand in the swimming area add up to a great camping experience! Will definitely recommend this place to family and friends when they are in the area and will most definitely camp here again and again! - DollyFulltimer
Jul 2013 - $44.00
Worst experience ever. We were suppose to have 50 amp service, but couldn't even get 30 amp. They kept blaming the problem on the electric company, but it was the way the pedestal was wired. It was not only my site, but with the rest of the group we were camping with, a total of 10 sites. Quiet hours were suppose to be from 11pm to 8 am, but other camper were loud way past midnight. Will never go to this campground again. - HR 2007
Sep 2010 - $1.00
While we did not stay here we took a drive through the CG to see what it looked like. The other posters were right on the mark. Almost all fulltime residents and not many other sites available to camp on. Would not camp here. There are others in the area! - norootsnow
Sep 2010 - $40.00
Campground was clean however, the workers were rude. Quite time is suppose to be 11:00pm to 8:00am but they had us turn down and off our music during the day. Then the told us we could face the music towards the river and that would be okay but they came down later and told us it was too loud again before 11:00pm. Have a gate key with a charge of $6 when you bring back the key you get your $6 back, one of our campers did not receive the key when they checked it however they charged them for it and would not refund the money when we checked out. Mostly seasonal people camp here and most are not friendly. Would not go back to this campground, it's not worth the money. - rozymat
May 2012 - $35.00
This is a beautiful location, but unfortunately the interior conditions do not meet modern standards for short term occupation. The access roads are heavily overgrown with both bushes and tree limbs and badly scratched both sides of our fifth wheel just getting in. Most sites are occupied by seasonal trailers and it was impossible to back around into several others. The site we finally used had a great view, but needed blocks and a lot of work for leveling. Other, more accessible, campgrounds are available in the Oneida area. Sorry, we won't stay here again. - Little Black Dog
Jul 2010 - $30.00
Owner is very nice. Mostly seasonal campers. Limited number of sites for over nighters. Low hanging trees and bushes scratched our coach getting in and out. This is one of the few (if not only) RV parks in the area. - Westside
Jul 2017 - $39.00
Stayed one night as we travelled through. This rv park is a real gem. Spacious neatly kept sites near a small beach. The owners were fabulous and made us feel very welcome. Services and amenities were great. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others. - Wayne and Barb
Jun 2012 - $32.00
Consists primarily of summer seasonal and weekend visitors. Owner quite friendly, professional in front office. A bit difficult to find along local roadways. Signs to campground are limited. Campground is situated along meandering backwaters of a river, generating mosquitoes. Riverside sites are occupied by seasonal campers and are well shaded. The inside loop is sunny and grassy. Sites are fairly snug. All roads are unpaved gravel, with some mild potholes here and there. AT&T service was two bars at best. Electric and water hookups worked fine. We could not get any Wi-Fi reception at our campsite. Huge grassy area for play and games. A significant number of kids. Bathrooms were overused, hot, and steamy... Inadequate to handle the number of users. Compared to other campgrounds we have stayed at around the US and Canada, this one would simply rate as "average". Nothing bad, but nothing that special, either. - The Happy Traveler
Aug 2011 - $20.00
Very nice park, well kept by very accommodating owners/managers. Price is Passport America. Park is not too convenient to anything such as WalMart. Has waterfront for fishing, swimming and boating (boats for rent). - consort
