I was impressed by the activities provided for children. The staff was friendly, access to the park was acceptable. The pull through sites are a bit short, but sufficient. I would stay at this park again. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here 2 nights passing through was pleased to get their Fall discount. Site was a very long pull through, cable channels were limited, and Verizon was decent. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Can not say enough about the sites . . . the BEST! Each site is screened from another with trees and foliage - very private. The park was super clean with good water pressure and very quiet at night. Would LOVE to spend a month at this park. Additionally, free pancakes every morning - blueberries cost extra. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for a long weekend. Yes the roads are smaller, no I had no issues getting a 43' fifth wheel down them and back into my site. Site was large and surrounded by trees, plenty of space between neighbors. We did have some unwelcome visitors each night, but they did not spray us. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

First Impression: A bit of a drive out in the country. CG is one, big, fun park with something for all ages. Safety: No concerns. Access: Exit 7 off I-84 in New York then north on NY-300 to NY-32 north (keep going straight), 6.1 miles to Freetown Highway (rural road), turn right. Then ½ mile to the huge KOA sign. NY-32 in poor condition. Small KOA sign at Freetown Rd, Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: Super friendly staff, very large store with snacks, souvenirs, food, clothing, quite a bevy of RV equipment and camping items. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. My price reflects the KOA discount. Facilities: Two pools, fishing pond, horseshoes, bounce pad, mini-golf, a wine store, café. Small, very cramped laundry room. Clean, modern restrooms. Separate shower rooms, clean, no mold. Propane sales. Big playground. Off-leash dog park. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Use restrooms as a storm shelter. Moderately wooded. Interior roads are wide asphalt (some dirt/gravel) in good condition with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and long coach friendly. Multiple tent areas and cabins to rent. Sites are nearby-to-secluded, level, packed gravel, mostly back-in, various types of landscaping between. Pedestals at rear-to-middle of site with electric 20/30/50; no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. Sewer pipe is 4" threaded, about 4-6" above ground level. No patios. Usable picnic tables. Fire rings; wood in office. Marginal satellite views (trees). Free cable TV (14 channels but their satellite reception is poor, also). OTA TV found 1 channel. Free Wi-Fi with good coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 1 bar. No recycle bins. Noise: Loud children at sites around the pool, quiet otherwise. Bug Report (late July): non-climbing black ants. Runners: CG roads ok for running. Yoga: no really good place to put your mat. Conclusion: Score 7-Good. Like all KOAs, they're pricey. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Price was average of weekday and weekend rate, plus resort fee. Old, expensive KOA with narrow roads. Gravel, level sites, close together. Most are in wooded area with lots of shade, but some in full sun. Our site had grass growing up through the gravel and needed maintenance. The bathrooms and showers are clean, but very old, with corroded, rusty unappealing fixtures that need renovating. The utility components are also old, and deteriorating, but functional, although the sewer screw cover was stripped and had to be pried apart. There is a well maintained fenced dog run. They charge a resort fee, whether you use the facilities or not, which are geared toward kids and teens. The "resort" climbing wall, advertised without limitation, was available for only one hour on Friday and Saturday. The mini golf course was in need of major deferred maintenance: most of the gravel in the "gravel traps" was spread all over the felt "fairways"; on one of the platforms for one of the holes, the end stop had been knocked off and looked like it had been lying on the ground for quite some time; the barrier fence was broken away from a post and appeared to be in danger of falling down; the entire course needed refurbishing. This place definitely was not worth the price because they are not maintaining it with all the rate revenue. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Absolutely loved this campground. They had everything you could want, nice staff, huge store, huge fishing pond, two pools, miniature golf, huge playground, outside movie theater w/popcorn, free pancakes for breakfast, wine tasting, snack bar, nice shaded lots, nice laundry room, nice walking areas. We were picked up from here to go on a New York City tour. The roads going in were a little tight. Please visit our Rvacationer You Tube Channel for a video. We stayed here to visit friends in the area. It is an older and typical KOA with very tight spaces, high prices, and lots of kids running around. There are five private showers for the campground which was not enough. The store was well stocked with food, snacks, and camping equipment. We thought the price was high for what we used and likely would look to stay somewhere else next time. For someone with small kids, then the price may be worthwhile as they have lots of activities for kids. The campground is out the "country" so there is no highway noise, trains, planes, trucks, etc. It is quiet at night which is really nice. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA has roughly 150 gravel pull through and back in rv spaces, in addition to a variety of cabins and tent sites. RV sites are a mix of FHU (either 30 or 50 amp) and W/E sites (30 amp only) with cable. Site numbers 1-57 are best suited for smaller rigs due to the very narrow and winding loops. The site numbers beginning with "F", "S" and "R" are fine for big rigs as the roads are wider, however they are at 90 degree angles to the road. These sites have full sun and are VERY close together. The remaining sites on the left hand side of the campground are roomier with lots of trees and vegetation. However, the turns are very tight if you are in a big rig. We stayed in site 145, a deluxe FHU pull through site which was long and level (and the best site in the entire campground in our opinion). Our site also included a large concrete patio with nice outdoor furniture, gas grill and separate seating area with firepit. Interior roads are very narrow, mostly gravel over dirt/asphalt base but are in fair/poor condition in the loops with many potholes. Several large speed bumps coming in/out of the park. There are lots of amenities here including two pools, jumping pillow, snack bar, catch and release pond, dog park, wine store with free wine tastings, playground, basketball court and much more. Free pancakes served daily. Nice store which sells gifts, snacks, ice, rv supplies, etc. Propane sold onsite. Bathrooms had 4 toilets per gender and there were 4 private showers. These were very dated but kept clean for the most part. Laundry area had 4 washers ($2 per wash) and 6 dryers ($.75 for 30 minutes). Utilities worked well but water pressure was a bit low and Verizon service was fair/good. Cable was limited to 14 channels with some channels hit or miss, and went out completely every time it rained. OTA channel reception was poor. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Second stay at this park - but only for one night each time.
The bad: Resort Fee of $6 per day- we stay at many KOAs - and they don’t charge this fee - why is it a separate fee? You don’t get a choice about it - regardless if you use any of or if any of it is even available: last time we were here, nothing was open, this time the pool, but nothing else for the kids (no rock wall, no jumping pillow), but you still have to pay extra. No close diesel (at least at a competitive price). Some of the roads have a lot of pot holes - that along with the speed bumps - makes for a rough ride in & out.
The good: pretty, wooded, both times we have had long pull-throughs that were easy to get into. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful campground. Very well organized. The site we had was just lovely. I have been in KOA facilities where it seemed we were on top of our neighbors, but that was not the case here. And the site was wooded. I would like to give this campground a 10, but I have seldom seen such filthy showers. It is bad enough that some of the patrons are slobs and leave their trash in the showers, but the floors of the showers look as if they have not been cleaned all year. Tips for other Campers:

We thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful area in the Hudson River Valley. Visited and recommend: West Point Academy, New Windsor Cantonment State Historic Site, Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site, Knox's Headquarters State Historic Site, Hudson River Maritime Museum, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. Also visited Locust Grove Estate, which was pleasant but disappointing because the work of Samuel Morse was not presented well.

One of the better KOA's we have stayed in. Sites are heavily wooded and laid out such that you have pretty good separation and privacy between rigs. Interior roads are narrow but if you take it slow and careful you can maneuver a big rig. We have a 40' class A with tow and where able to manage it. Any larger and it might get tricky. Very good WiFi, no satellite due to trees but they do offer acceptable quality cable with limited channels. We would stay here again if in the area.
