Rate is based off the weekly rate of $350.00, stayed here for NASCAR race week. Pros are that the employees were nice, local to town and surrounding area was good, quiet even being so close to town. Showers and bathrooms were clean, good wifi, and cell reception. Now the cons, which mainly are two. Some sites used to be seasonal and they have removed the prior decking and the stone pad is higher, so when it rained and it did for a few days off and on, we had a mud pit in front of our door. Had to use lynx levelers to get in and out of the camper and with kids that's not an ideal situation. Second, and the main reason is the seasonal camper who harassed and stared at us the whole time she was there. Waving down us and others saying that we were speeding in and out of the campground, but other seasonals can go as fast as they like. Speed limit is 15 on main road and we did 10, campground is 5 MPH and we did that, we have children so we do go slow on purpose anyway. Atmosphere is just as much about camping as the locale and this one rubbed us the wrong way. Bad enough that she does this, worse that the campground allows it to happen. Also for a county park they should really spray for mosquitoes, especially with so much rain, couldn't stay outside at night because they were so bad. Unfortunately probably won't stay here again. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Clute Memorial is a simple campground in a prime location. We stayed on a pull-thru site A6. The campground hookups were easy to get to and worked great. There is a swimming area across the street but that is about it for additional amenities. The ladies in the office are a wealth of knowledge and will help you in finding what to see in the area. We stayed at this campground so that we could enjoy the state park. Once we paid our parking fee at Watkins Glen we found out that it was good for all state parks in the area for that day as well. So We drove to Ithaca (30 minutes) and visited all the waterfalls and the State Parks in that area as well. Well worth it! We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Travel Trailer.

This is not a fancy campground but it's a great campground if you are visiting the area. The staff was by far the nicest, helpful and accommodating that I have encountered in the last 6 years since we have been Glamping. The campground is quiet and clean there were no golf carts running amuck all day and night. The sites are average but not as tight as others are. There is a fire ring and picnic table, WiFi is pretty good 4 bars LTE Verizon. Cable was great as well. There is a city park across the street which is phenomenal with a hot dog stand, there are Kayak rentals and E-bikes. When we arrived we had issues with our rig because the bedroom slide had snapped a cable the night before, as all know it's hard to get RV Techs for service on a dime since this is their busiest time of the year. On check out date we still had not secured a repair person so we asked if we could stay an additional night, the manager told us to take as long as we needed and that she would show that site as occupied until we could get the slide fixed. Never in a million years would I have thought that would happen. Lucky for us we found a repair facility close by in Bath. The staff was the best we have encountered thus far from the ladies in the office to the guys that keep the grounds clean. I huge shout out to the staff member who was so friendly and helpful and full of great suggestions to include the Windmill. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground is right in Watkin's Glen which is about a 30 minute drive from Corning, NY. There is a another campground between Corning and Watkin's Glen that wanted $100 per night and this park was $60. There are no amenities, but saving $40 per night was worth it. There is a new Walmart adjacent to the CG which was good for groceries and camping supplies. The bathrooms in the CG are old, but the ones in the back of the office are newly remodeled and very nice. People are here because of the WG State Park and this CG is very close which is so convenient. We would stay here again. Stayed 7 nights. Paid weekly rate of $350. I chose to complete a paper form and snail mail our reservation request. This allowed me to reserve in January. You can reserve online for a $5 fee but you can't reserve online until March. I was worried they would fill up for the Summer season so wanted to get my request in as early as possible. Promptly after sending my form, I received email confirmation. If coming/going from I-86, your best bet is to use the 14. Some roads are dicey for RVs due to steep hills. If in doubt, call the office for directions/advice. Upon arrival, office staff was exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The office has a large selection of brochures and useful information about the area. Our site (B7) was mostly gravel'ish where the RV was parked but we put pads under our jacks to be cautious (due to expected rain). The rest of the site was mostly grass'ish with some gravel and some dirt. Technically the site is a pull through but, due to our 44' length, we had to park the toad on the side to fit both. We had a few bouts of rain (sometimes quite heavy) leaving various puddles in our site and around the campground - nothing that couldn't be managed but agree with prior reviewers that management should put down more gravel. Utilities worked perfectly and were placed well although sewer was a bit far (but manageable). Clear sky for DirecTV satellite. They have cable with 50+ channels but we didn't use it. Verizon voice and data worked well. Park wifi worked quite well (better than most). Our site was on an interior road that was used for access to the adjoining baseball field and boat ramp. We didn't find it too busy or noisy. Evenings were dark and quiet making for restful sleep. The office allowed us to receive packages and always called us upon delivery. We really liked the location. If in the area, we would certainly consider staying here again. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Have a delicious meal and craft brew at Rooster Fish (you can walk to it). Walk, run or cycle Catherine Trail (mtn bike is ideal if it has rained recently). Explore the fabulous wineries, breweries and creameries (cheese & ice cream). Numerous waterfalls are close by and super easy to access. Corning Glass Museum is a tad overrated. If you have kids, they'll like the live demonstrations and interactive exhibits. Visit Farm Sanctuary where you can pet cows, pigs, goats and chickens.

We stayed here in late September. Site was in middle section next to playground & very close to showers / toilets which was convenient. Utilities were good. The only suggestion I would make for this park is a need for more gravel for each site. The park is really a good base for exploring the wine vineyards & the race track, but a little pricey for what you get. If you are looking for alternate spots, the KOA on the southern edge of town is nice, but the price is absolutely ridiculous. While there, we ate at the Watkins Glen Motor Lodge & I think the menu has not changed in 30 years, nor the decor. Would not have been shocked to see Dean Martin & Sammy Davis Jr. walk in the door with drink & cigarette. Sorry I did not come here in 1966.....this town was probably rockin' then. We stayed at Clute for 9 nights as a base for exploring Watkins Glen, Seneca Lake and many of the wineries located around the finger lakes. As a previous reviewer commented, the first impression of the park is not great. It fronts a busy highway and is composed of probably 2/3 full time travel trailers and fifth wheels. As you drive in with the marina on the side it looks kind of like a storage yard. We reserved a back in site on the F-Line that backs up to a baseball field. Baseball season was over so no disturbance here. The site is nice and wide and mostly sunny. Utilities were great; however, the sewer connection is to an unthreaded 4" pipe so bring a sewer donut or duct tape. The cable connection had many channels and wifi was better than most parks. Great water pressure. There was torrential rain while we were at Watkins Glen, and the park, although mostly grass and turf had a lot of mud in the area next to the gravel pad for the rv where the patio rug would go. This must be a rainy part of the country and most of the sites had this mud/dirt area. It would be great if the park, run by the city, would lay some gravel down in this area. Another consideration for the back in, F-line sites is that there are overflow sites that could be used between the back of your rv and the baseball field. Not sure how a camper would navigate this area and park without causing a crowded situation. We did not have any overflow behind us during the stay. The ladies in the front office are truly awesome. They are most helpful with the details of the park and know tons about the surrounding areas. The lakeside park across the road was unfortunately closed due to the heavy rains and standing water. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.

This was a weekend during the peak season, and we were placed on a pull though site that for most of the year serves as a driveway. It did have properly placed utilities and it was the proper size, but the site was all gravel whereas the rest of the campground sites were grassy. It was fine for a couple of nights, but my biggest objections were the people who cut through the site like it was still a driveway. I would not have stayed here if I had known ahead of time. Our site was up front near the office. It was about 1/3 crushed rock and the rest grass. At first I thought the sight was pretty sketchy, but the ground was hard and level and the site was really long. So, I pulled in with ease and had plenty of space from my neighbors and decided I really liked the site. All of the other sites I saw looked similarly roomy. Utilities, wifi and cell reception worked great, and satellite was easy. But wait, there's more. There is a great, big park directly across the street right on Lake Seneca that is perfect for strolling and dog walking. The lake was gorgeous one night when a low fog rolled in over the lake. And, the ladies in the front office were some of the best I have met (I should have gotten names, but didn't). There are a ton of brochures, but they will help you find anything and they have great recommendations. In my case, I wanted breweries, dairies, and waterfalls and they hooked me up with maps, directions, must-do's and all that. Did I say they were terrific? There is a nearby marina and main street is about 1/2 mile away, so this is a great base for exploring the area. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

In many other places this would be a basic county rv park but it's all about the location. Across the street from a beautiful park on Seneca Lake, five minutes walk across a bridge to Walmart, 10 minutes walk to downtown Watkins Glen. Level gravel spots reasonably spaced, wifi worked most of the time, especially closer to the central power poles, individual bathrooms clean. Over-priced but would definitely stay there again. We stayed at Clute Memorial CG over Labor Day weekend to explore the southern Finger Lakes region. The campground is across the street from Seneca Lake and right around the corner from downtown Watkins Glen. Only a few seasonal sites appeared to have a view of the lake. The campground is nothing special (like a big grass parking lot), but was very popular; as soon as sites opened up in the morning, they were full by afternoon. Sites weren't too tight; there was plenty of room to easily back into site and park truck. Section C was back-in sites, and hookups were all at the back of the site so bring long electric cord and water hose. Sections A&B looked like pull-throughs with connections on the side. Full hookups, free wifi, cable and good cell signal. The two individual bathrooms by the office have bath/showers with locking doors. The bathhouse by the playground was more "public." Our only small complaint was that the dumpsters were overflowing every night, maybe due to holiday weekend. We wouldn't recommend this CG for a quick overnight stop unless you're already in the area or if this is your destination; access from main highway was about 20 miles of country roads, but if we were travelling in this area again, we would stay at Clute Memorial CG. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Memorial Park is very conveniently located in the tourist town of Watkins Glen, NY. We were able to walk or ride our bikes to many local attractions (including a WalMart with grocery next door), and could easily reach some world-class tourist spots by car. We stayed two weeks and could have entertained ourselves for another week. This park is located on a canal and across the road from Seneca Lake, so boating/fishing are popular passtimes for guests. Our assigned back-in site proved a bit unlevel, so we had to use additional blocks. Staff are friendly, and this park does recycle. Cable TV service is excellent, however we opted to use our own Verison Internet service. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Motorhome.
