This review is tempered by the fact that we were placed in overflow which we knew coming in. We were not warned that overflow is in a field at the end of a long, dusty unpaved road. We had to get in the car to visit the pool or other amenities. The place was busy and check-in was very slow. The check-in office is minuscule which meant standing in the hot sun until space inside was free. When my husband asked about dumping on our departure, he was told to look for an empty site and to use that. Quite awkward. The sandy beach was unavailable as there was yellow tape around the lake. An escort to the site would have been nice since we weren't sure which unpaved road we were supposed to use and the office had not marked it on our map. We were just told to take "the unpaved road to the right". On the plus side the cafe looked quite nice and the adult pool was a welcome addition. Great places for long walks and birding. Forest Lake is a fairly good jumping off spot for a visit to Winston Salem and Lexington. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice little (not fancy) bbq joint just down the road but I would still try to find a place closer to Winston Salem. Had a wonderful visit to Reynolda House. Don't miss the pimento cheese at Conrad and Hinkle in Lexington.

We stayed here for one night on our way south. The park's roads were very narrow and windy, and in need of repair. Most of the sites are occupied by annuals, so there are very few transient sites to choose from. There were only 6 or so sites available, and of those, we could get our 40-foot motorhome into one or two. We chose the one accessible site closest to the exit, and it was very unlevel, as were all the sites available to us. Utilities worked as they should, and we got a strong Verizon cell signal. However, we will not return to this park. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects TT membership. This was our second experience with a TT park; the first was horrible, so this seemed great by comparison! We really don't like the self-service way they do things, we think it is tough to have to drive a big rig around a park to pick out a site. We picked a spot in C loop out in the open, not very scenic but we wanted tv satellite reception. We paid an extra $3/day for 50 amp, not a big deal. The Verizon signal was very strong, so we had internet. Walking trails are nice, and the pools and lake are pretty. Roads are mostly gravel, need a little smoothing out. As previously reported the seasonal people have the nicest sites. All in all we might come back here but it would be nice to have a better way to pick out your site. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Forest Lake was a beautiful park when we first joined Thousand Trails in the late 1990's. In my opinion it has declined quite a bit in recent years. There is a sign on the rec hall that says "closed due to unsupervised kids", so you can't go in and use the arcade. There was a wonderful general store that had the best ice cream and snacks. Closed. The grill/restaurant that always had breakfast on Saturday mornings, closed. Family pool closed for sometime due to them needing a new pump and have not gotten one yet. There is an adult pool they are using. It is smaller than the family pool and had at least 100 people in it which is over the county set capacity rating. Just not fun there anymore. We camped at Forest Lake RV Park & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.
