The only reason I don't rate this a 10 is that there are no full hookups here. Well love Jordan Lake and stay here whenever we are in the area. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

So many things to do in the area. Chapel Hill and University of NC is 30 minutes in one direction. Cary, cApex, and Holly Springs are 20-30 minutes in the other. Don't miss Aviator Brewery and H Mart (Korean grocery) in Cary while you are here.

Jordan Lake is a beautiful lake, recreation, and camping area. Like most CG's maintained by the Corps of Engineers, sites are huge compared to private CG's w/excellent maintenance, plenty of shade and clean. The downside, I think, is price (excluding what us & our very nice discount) compared to value. $30/night is a bit high for the area considering these are not full hook-up sites, offer no wifi @ sites or in the park that I know of, and no access to cable or satellite. Aside from swimming, boating & fishing, which likely most come for, there are none of the usual CG amenities. Not even a CG store. Yes; this is a wonderful State Park, and we have stayed in many. Most are extremely nice, and usually most of us aren't looking for a lot of amenities in them. But full hookups would be nice and even wifi. If I'd known all of this before my husband reserved for an extended time, I would've suggested a CG closer to Cary or Apex. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Motorhome.

The campground, a COE project operated by the state, recently underwent renovations. All new electricity hook ups and modernized bath houses highlight the improvements. Plus the entrance gate now remains open 24 hours. No sewer hook ups prevent a 10 rating. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for four nights. The first thing we noticed was the size of the spaces. They are huge and spaced out. It wasn't supposed to be a waterfront lot, but we could still see the lake through the trees. We really enjoyed our stay. For the first couple nights, there was no one in the spaces on either side of us. It felt like we were all alone in the woods. There are no sewer hookups at the sites, but there are two at the entrance to the campground. There are trails through the woods and a nice beach/swimming area. The Area B camp host was a waste of taxpayer dollars. We went to him with a problem. He mumbled something, got up from his chair, went into his RV, and disappeared, completely ignoring us (and the large dog we found roaming the campground without a leash or owners.) We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Motorhome.

Camped one night with our granddaughter. Campsites were huge and well spaced/well groomed. Most sites are heavily wooded giving a feeling of privacy. We had 30 amp and water but no sewer; however, the dump site was quite user friendly as we were leaving. We stayed on the B ring. It was a short and pleasant walk to the beach. It was a very good experience! We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A great state park. Many sites have direct water frontage. All sites on loop C have power & water. Spots were well shaded and backed to dense woods (making it tough to find perfect trees to hang the hamocks!). The bath house is dated, but adequate. Hot water for the showers was spotty (some stalls seemed better than others). Also, the showers use a push-button activation. Each push gives you about 1.5 minutes of water. No way to adjust water temperature. Camp hosts and rangers were highly visible and made frequent dries through the campground. Normally, gates are locked from sun-down to sun-up, but they were left open 24-hours during the Memorial Day weekend. Two convenience stores with gas stations located about 1 mile away. A full grocery store and shopping center located about 10 miles away in Apex. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Tent Trailer.

There's a private boat ramp (for campers only). There's also a sand beach (also, campers only) on Loop B. An each 1.5 mile trail (each way) connects all 3 camping loops and the boat ramp.

We stay here with a group of families most Easter weekends. This year we shared a double site with some close friends. When we arrived, we were greeted at the gate by a friendly staff member who signed us in and offered materials if we needed them. The roads into the campsite were well maintained and easily navigated. The site was clear of debris and clean. When we went to hook up our water, the spigot was turned off. We notified the staff and they had someone come out and turn it on for us. The fire pit was clean and we had two picnic tables on a large picnic pad. The back of our site went down a hill to a cove off the main lake, giving us a place to put in our kayaks. The restrooms were clean and the showers hot. The Campground host cleaned them several times throughout the day. The rangers patrolled the campground throughout the weekend and monitored campers. It was completed full on all three loops, yet it was relatively quiet. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning next year. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Tent Trailer.

We have stayed here twice and enjoyed the park both times, once in summer and most recently this winter. The park has boating, hiking, fishing and lake swimming, and is an easy 30+ minute drive to many activities in the Chapel Hill and Raleigh areas. Closer in, Fearrington Village offers several great restaurants and upscale shopping. The sites are large and most offer nice privacy. There are also buddie sites for those travelling with other campers. The water (in spring thru fall) and electric hookups worked well and the site was nicely paved and included a large outdoor living area with picnic table, fire pit, and lantern hook. Our site backed very near to the shore and had beautiful views of the lake and sunset. In the summer most sites appear to be well shaded. Only electric is available in the winter months but water can be obtained at the dump or at the rest room locations. This is a great location to either kick back on a beautiful site and just relax or to see all the attractions that the nearby area has to offer. We will stay here again. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University in Raleigh have major college sports activities plus cultural events and many good restaurants. Raleigh also has major shopping and excellent museums. In Fearrington Village (about 15 minutes from the park) is the Granary restaurant which has wonder well prepared meals using fresh local food items and at reasonable prices.

We stayed at Crosswinds on 4 separate trips between end of October and Early December. Sites are great with paved roads and gravel sites. All are improved with fire pit and table with a lantern pole. All sites in loops C and B have electric and water. All sites are back ins. Even at this time of year we needed to make reservations to stay. Water was turned off for the winter third week of November. CG will be open all winter. Sites are very large and very private and mostly wooded along the reservoir. Most sites are pretty level and can accommodate big rigs. Gate remains open 24/7. Campground very quiet even on weekends. Cannot control water temp in showers but seemed adequate. Showers are getting a bit dated and will need upgrade soon. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 4 nights in B50. Site was open when we arrived and was clear of trash. Site is gravel and it only required 1/2 inch to level. Power and water hook up were fine. Table and fire pit/ grill where clean as could be expected. Site is short walk to water, maybe 75 yards. It did not show any signs that other campers cut thru site to get to water. Good buffer on both sides to other sites. Site was long enough for 30 ft camper, truck and mini-van to park.

It is a short walk to the bath house. Bath house is typical parks style- could use an update, has push button shower that cuts off about the time you get soaped up, but water was hot enough.

The camp host is beside the bathhouse and appears to have been there awhile- as in a permanent site. Camper was under pinned and items build into place. Did not meet here but did see her walking large dog off lead...

Roads in and out were good, nothing strange. Dump site is large and set for vech. to pull to either side. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground on our way to the coast of North Carolina. Our campsite was very private, but too far from the restrooms and showers. We were at the far end of loop B and the closest restrooms weren't that great. The restrooms and showers aren't adequate for a campground this size. On the weekend I had to stand in line. Otherwise it was a good stay. I would return if I could get a site closer to the restrooms. Some sites in loop B do flood in rainy weather. We stayed at Cross Winds for Easter Weekend with five other families. We enjoyed camping on the lake with a small beach within walking distance. The kids enjoyed the water, kayaking, and riding their bikes around the campground. The sites are spacious, with plenty of room and trees between them. The sites are gravel and have a large pad with light post, fire ring/grill, and picnic table. The sites were clear of debris when we arrived. Water and electric we easily accessible. Trash cans were located every few sites and emptied twice each day. The roads through all three loops were well paved and a boat launch is available near the campground. The bath house was close to our sites and well lit. They were cleaned daily, but got messy toward the evening with heavy use. The showers were warm, with a push button access. We enjoyed our stay at Cross Winds and will return. It was convenient, clean, and fun for the entire family. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This was a tent camping trip with a group of 6 people. We got 2 site side by side. Lots were level and had water/ elec., no sewer. They had the normal park grills. Plenty of room for 2 tents and 2 hammocks. Bath house was clean but needed painting. Everything worked as it should. We had loud group down from us but Rrangers came by and calmed them down. We would go again. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Crosswinds Campground in a Tent.
