Management & staff excellent- friendly and helpful. Clubhouse spacious and clean. Pool available in season. Laundry on site is more reasonable than Laundromat Wooded sites. We were not able to connect to Satellite. No Wi-Fi or cable available. Sites are not level or large but staff will assist in whatever it takes to level and facilitate settling into site. Convenient to Asheville and Western NC attractions. Showers could use more cleaning attention. This is our 3rd year to stay a month at this park. Despite any shortcomings we will return again next year. - M&MLuna

Narrow road to get to the park, but it is doable. What a gem of a park. We were there early in the week so I'm not sure what the weekends are like. Gated at night, friendly hosts and a clean park. The sites seem well spread out and are a mix of dry to full hookups. We had power only. Very quit at night and just in general. Hiking trails everywhere. Close to everything including the Blue Ridge Parkway. Asheville is only about 10-20 min away. We've already decided we are coming back next year. - Justice12t
Jul 2019 - $22.00
Enjoyed our stay. No Verizon in our loop at least not with a Samsung Galaxy 8 or 9. We did get service briefly between Bent Creek loop & Big John loop. We had a young bear visit our site on two different days eating berries off of bushes. - jjcar

This campground is located off of 191 in Asheville in the Lake Powhatan Recreation Area. It is near restaurants, shopping mall etc. The turn in for the campground is right next to the drive up for the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is also easy to get on the interstates and to head over to the Biltmore Estate from the campground. The campground has 97 sites located in four big loops. some with electric, a beach, swimming, boating, biking and hiking trails. Our site 53 had full hookups in the Lakeside Loop. It is not lakeside just the closet loop to the lake but it is still a hike down and hike up to get there. Enjoyable hike with little bridges crossing over the running water. The Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge is a short ride away and we always enjoy visiting it. The campground is in a wooded area and located in Asheville right on Lake Powhatan in the Appalachian Mountains of western NC. In the area there are mountains, waterfalls, beautiful views and the must see Biltmore Estate. - gsnakehill

Nice park. We stayed one night only and had a concrete pull thru pad. The campground is tight. They do escort you to your site and help you get situated on the site. However, be careful when traveling thru the park. Some cars are hanging out into the road. They say they have WiFi, but we could not get anything pulled up when connected to it. Cable was good. 50/30 amp service, sewer and water. - Nclauri
Oct 2019 - $45.00
We really enjoyed our stay here. Our site was on the small lake (pond). The campground is very well kept. Sites are pretty level, completely gravel and a little tight but I've seen smaller. They have someone take you to your site and help guide you in. While there we went to an apple orchard, several breweries, a hard cider brewery and a winery along with some shopping in Hendersonville, Chimney Rock and Asheville. - 02camp

Terrible campground with cracked pavement, undeveloped sites at such a steep slope it scraped the back of our trailer and bike rack. NO WiFi contrary to their printed brochure. Staff was not helpful no very friendly. Skip this place. - Kfrazer

I saw in Good Sam book this was rated a high 9 or 10. Definitely not. It is one of a couple in the area so maybe that is the attraction? Walked into the bathrooms under the office - really not impressed. Totally inadequate trash. Had 2 small bins. AT 3:PM they were mostly full by morning trash is stacked up along side of it. 2 small bins trash and 2 bins recycle. The big issue was trailer space and parking. We were on the main row past the office. It was tight but doable when parking my rig. However in order to stay there everyone needs to park in front of the rig. So that means on each side of the street everyone is parking out front. So it is difficult to pull your rig out. My neighbor got up at 6:00AM to move his vehicle so I could get out. Then he could get out. Sandwiched between two major freeways. Kids running around at night at night with no lights nearly hitting trucks parked on the road. Would never stay here again. - sadiesassy

This park has multiple hazards! We damage our MH before we got parked. The pull through sites are way too narrow. You cannot pull a Class A 34 foot MH without pulling onto the site next to yours and working you way into your site. The boulders they have out by the electrical will damage your unit. The boulder in 6A did a thousand dollars of damage to our new MH. No excuse for any park to have hazards like these. After reading these reviews I see we aren't the only ones who damage their unit. I will never stay there again. - Sooner Born

Nice campground for a couple nights. Concrete pad, back in sites, FHU and nice & friendly campground hosts. Beware of a lot walkers, bikers and joggers. Only downside is hard to get into the campground, entrance is next to I-40 exit ramp on a dead end street. Unhook tow vehicle before coming in campground at the office. - Robert Goh
Jun 2019 - $42.00
It is not for newer big rigs. The electrical is only 30 amp and our high voltage protection kept going on and off. The water pressure was very low. The internet did not work at all. Also very hard to get into the park. I would not recommend this park for a long stay. - Mz1
Jun 2019 - $45.00
Great sites. We backed up directly on the French Broad River. Due to the recent rains in the area, walking around the RV was a bit sloppy though no fault of their own. Some shade was provided and all in all, a great place to stay. - Uncle Albert

We originally planned to camp in Lake Powatan National Forest, but there were no sites available. We found Stony Creek RV Park in Campground Reviews. We called ahead & were told that there were a couple of sites available. People we have met in the camping community tend to be very friendly, welcoming people, but I would be hard pressed to find anyone nicer than the owner/operator in Stony Creek. This RV park is full hook up, the sites are gravel, fairly level and is next to Mt. Pisgah. It is a small park and is intended for long term campers who seem to live there and work in the area. The owner said that he caters mostly to long term, or seasonal campers. Our site was recently vacated and the new camper was not arriving for another week. There are no playgrounds, rest rooms, showers, or fire rings. There are picnic tables. We had a running, stony creek behind our campsite. That being said, it was perfectly suited for our needs. e just needed a place to stay while we visited the Asheville and Blur Ridge area. The campsite we stayed in was quite close to the Pisgah Hwy, but it is not heavily traveled with little traffic noise. - Sharp Dressed Man

This is one of the sweetest campgrounds I have yet to stay in. Was here for two weeks and really enjoyed my stay. Campground is clean and quiet and is The owner was very kind and helpful in accommodating for my needs which was very much appreciated. I highly recommend Stony Fork Creek in Candler, NC - Cynthia C
Dec 2017 - $18.00
As a full-time traveler, I have been to many different parks and have had good and bad experiences with management and facilities. This park has been such a great find! The owner, has gone above and beyond to help me settle in to my year-long work assignment in the area and I have never had to second guess if choosing this park was the right decision. As mentioned in the other reviews, you must be self-contained as there are no facilities here but the well water is amazingly clean and there is great water pressure. Most of the traffic running by the park is local or motorcyclists out for a scenic ride in the area, hardly noticeable. There are lots on both sides of the road so as mentioned DO slow down when close. The GPS was very accurate but it will take you to a house about 200 yards in front of the turn, so if you miss it; turning around in a larger rig will be tough. If coming from Candler and staying in lots 7-10, there is a long, brown fence immediately before the turn-in on the right. If in lots 1-6, you will see the trailers and the EXIT to the sites on your left BEFORE you see the ENTRANCE sign ahead. Suburban propane has been amazing and will come out to this location to install a tank if staying long enough to need it, with auto refill services available. The sites are gravel, level enough to just need a few adjustments. There are picnic tables at each site with 30amp,50 amp hook-ups. The grounds are maintained well with a few trees, more on the creekside, that offer some shade. There are several county parks in the Candler area with playgrounds and nature trails so not having these facilities at the site has not been an issue. I do not have dogs, but others in the park do and have never had issues, no unwanted visitors either. So far, it is very peaceful. The owner has been one of the nicest people I have met in my travels and I highly recommend this park, whether for a day or a year as he will go out of his way to make you feel welcomed!! - GinaS

Apr 2018 - $40.00
The main RV park is right on Hwy 151 with 5 sites. These appeared to be occupied by long term renters. We parked across the road down by the owner's house. There is tight turn and a fairly steep, gravel hill leading down to the site. Once you get there, it is pretty wide open. There are 3 maybe 4 sites with hookups (two facing the creek), and two tiny houses for rent. The sites facing the creek alternate between RV site and tiny house. They are pretty close together. We were the only ones here so it was ok ... it may have been uncomfortably close if someone was renting the tiny house next to us. Our site was gravel and a bit narrow. Our steps narrowly missed touching the deck. The deck is stamped concrete with a pergola. It's a pretty setup. There is a shared gazebo with a swing and seat right by the creek. WII FI worked pretty good although it would drop you sometimes. Directv satellite worked great. Verizon coverage 4g 2/3 bars. The park is about 7 miles from the Blue Ridge PKWY and about 15 miles from Asheville. It was quiet for the most part especially at night. - Free
Oct 2017 - $40.00
We stayed at a site in the hollow next to the house which was very nice and had full hookups. Our site had a large concrete patio with a pergola, bench and table which was the nicest patio area we've had at an RV park. It was next to a clear, shallow creek with a wooden swing. There is a large, grassy field that is great for dogs. The site itself is gravel/grass and level. Wifi was strong and reliable. Good Verizon signal. No cable but satellite friendly and many OTA stations. There are only a few sites in the hollow. It is down a steep hill but we didn't have any problem in our 37' class A. The 5 sites across the highway didn't look as nice, but I really can't make much comment on them since that's not where we stayed. No facilities but we never use them anyway. We would stay again if in the area. - thekites
Jul 2017 - $35.00
This is a small, well kept campground with just 5 sites. We stayed in site 3. Virtually at the edge of Pisgah National Forest and close to everything else. Best wifi in any campground and we've stayed at many. No frills but each site level and grassy "front yard" to each site meant no rug necessary. Would absolutely stay again. The owner is a gem of a guy and has a nice place here. Sorry to have to leave. - Jaendavid

The owner has sold TAPS RV. The park will close on 20 June 2018. The new owner will probably use the property for something other than a campground. That is sad, because we have stayed there for several years. - JavanMichael
Oct 2017 - $37.00
The designated dog walk area was completely littered with so much dog feces, you literally could not walk your dog! We had to walk our dogs behind the RV park near the roadway , but with much fewer feces. We were asked to clean up after our dogs which we do, actually clean up after others, but come on! Upon arrival, we were told to unhook our dolly so we could make the turn into our pull thru site front next to spot BB. Site was fairly level with a picnic table. We left a day early and found better accommodations in Hendersonville. - Rv there

First! We have a 45' motorhome so all other reviews saying this is a tight park, please learn how to drive. Had no problem getting around. Second! The owner is SUPER friendly and will do everything to make your stay comfortable. As others have said, this is a great location to visit Asheville. If you are looking for a family entertainment/ activities like a playground etc, this is not your park. The park is small and quiet even though it is close to the road. There is a small stream at the back. You might hear the train once or twice but its not an issue. - Presidio40

Oct 2017 - $10.00
This is a NPS campground, and is the southernmost on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Incredible location being nestled below the summit of Mount Pisgah and across from the Pisgah Inn, which provides a very nice restaurant, Inn and souvenir shop. The views are incredible. The campground is nicely laid out and connected to the local trail system. The park personnel were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. While the campground itself was in tidy condition, the sites were rather disheveled. Yes, they could be upgraded when funding appears someday, but they were not clean or raked; there was trash in the shrubs, the site needed raking and the grill/firepit was full of ashes and burned trash. The small restroom was rather nasty and not regularly cleaned, but the bath house was clean and welcoming. The NPS needs to crack a whip to those given the responsibilities of overall cleanliness. There's plenty of room at most of the sites. Not chock-a-block at all. Pull-thru sites are in Loop A only. Loop B will accommodate smaller rigs and tents and is back-in. Some sites are double-wide to accommodate an RV and auto side-by-side. Loop C is tenting only. Overall, a very nice camping experience which would be so much better if those responsible for cleaning up the sites between guests would clean the sites. - AltoGuys
Jul 2017 - $10.00
Beautiful area. A good 20 miles either direction to gas/grocery store. Biggest complaint is amenities. For the whole campground there are only two bathrooms with a single shower in both men's and women's bathroom! More tent sites than camper sites, so long waits for showers. Not clean either! Needs a good scrubbing! - 4acrossfarm
May 2014 - $16.00
This campground opened May 9 and was empty but for one camper when we arrived. Only Loop B was open which is intended for tents and pop up campers but there were many spots that could accommodate our 30’ trailer. Only a few of these had an additional space where we could park our truck. Reservations and the remaining campground open on May 15. All spots are spaced well apart with lots of vegetation in between so lots of privacy. The bathhouses have hot showers and look like they’ve been recently updated. Very clean and nice. Water is available throughout the campground but there are no hookups at individual sites. There is a dump station upon exit. All sites are paved and appear to be level. Each site has a fire ring, leveled gravel pad for a tent, picnic table and a bear box. The Mt. Pisgah Inn is just across the Parkway (1/4 mile walk) and has a great restaurant. There is also a camp store with coin laundry facilities a little further away. The campground is at 5,000’ so many of trees are still without leaves in early May. We would definitely stay here again. - Barefootdog
