This park is big and crowded, 90 percent permanant trailers and at least half of them very old. the place is however, for the most part, well maintained. There are only a hand full of temp sites, maybe a dozen, and management offers them no help. For example the cable TV system is not like any other. It took 2 days and 2 different neighbors to help hook mine up, the office let us know they will not help with it! The camp is at least well situated to visit the surrounding area. - Gerry9

This park is an OK park for an Encore park. It has about 90% full time people living here. They put us in a back-in site along the main road which was fairly level once we got into it. FHU; water quality was good as was the electric. They have cable TV and with cell towers across the street, Verizon coverage is excellent. They have a good size dog park; nice playground; pool. Staff friendly and helpful. There is a little pond with bridges going over it. Going out the back gate takes you to another quiet street where I was able to walk. They have a boat dock somewhere if you want to bring your boat. - Kerch Family

We had a free week from Thousand Trails which is the only reason we ended up in this park. Park is a trailer park - not an RV resort. When you enter the park there are mobile homes that have been abandoned with the skirting kicked in and windows broken out. The interior is somewhat better but mostly permanent trailers and a few RV spots. ANTS are a terrible problem as others have mentioned - both fire ants on the site and small black that enter your RV. Requested treatment of the fire ants the first day we were here, but apparently their ANDRO expired cause it did nothing to control them. Then there is the issue of cats running loose and pooping on sites and not covering. Office said I was the first person to complain about the cats so it is apparently accepted here as her comment was "yes we do have cats"! So many nicer parks to stay at - steer clear. - Gomoho

First the positive. We have a great spot overlooking an inlet or cove with plenty of room to park, but tightly squeezed spots. This is a corporate owned campground and customer service is non existent. We pulled in at 5 pm to a closed gate, no attendee at guard house, no late arrival packet. The cars started piling up behind us while I called the office. Poor girl was alone and couldn't help us. A great fellow let us in and guided us to the office, that CLOSES AT 4PM. Thankfully the girl was still wrapping stuff up and gave us our packet and wished us luck getting the cable to work. Stand on your head, spin a plate, and program some device with a remote. We get to our spot and no device for the cable is provided. So no cable or wifi at our "Elite" site. Called the office, left a message. This place must have 200 sites and no one is available after 4pm? - Oz Traveler
Jul 2018 - $80.00
We stayed here on the 4th of July weekend. A very nice CG, but the grass was tall at our site. The camp site next to ours had to move their car so we could park the trailer. There were too many permanent camper set up. Our site was parked around near a dozen permanent sites. On the other hand the bath houses were clean and in good condition. The pool was great with a great slide. The staff was great too. - Speed Demon
Jun 2018 - $50.00
This campground is an Encore/Thousand Trails Park and consequently consists of primarily Park models and seasonal sites. The RV sites are just ok, especially for a smaller RV. Most of the sites weren't real level from front to back if you have a big rig. There is only one dumpster in the entire campground and it's not close to the RV sites. - CKB

This place was right on the water and so close to a lot of fun things to do. Laundry was $1.25 to wash and $1.50 to dry. It has a small playground and basketball court. The pool was under repair but it was really cold so we didn't use it anyway. The bathhouses we under remodeling so only was was not available to use during our stay. They were so clean. Our spot was by the dock which was nice but it was VERY hard to back into because if you weren't careful you could end up in the water. We really liked this park and would stay here again. - TravelinFam
Jun 2016 - $41.00
Were assigned to a site in the back of the campground. Could not make one of the turns in my 40 foot motorhome without bending the street sign. Had rained the night before. The grass/dirt site was standing in so much water my rig would probably have gotten stuck. Fortunately, the staff person checked with headquarters and sent us to another sister campground 6 miles away where sites were much better. - mhollis1
Oct 2013 - $53.00
Mostly a seasonal park with a few transient spots, located on Bogue Bay/White Oak River. Most units are park models or permanently anchored. Transient sites are manicured grass with a couple paved sites, paved circular road with some gravel interior roads. Three bathhouses, could be cleaner and updated, nice laundry facility. A couple restaurants are within walking distance, Dunkin Donuts across the street. Wi-Fi available at $6/day subscription. Boat slip and ramp. Aircraft noise from Camp Lejune is frequent. - travelin' guy

The park was hit by a hurricane last fall and was still recovering a bit. They lost the dock and there was no sign of a rebuild. The park is quiet and friendly. They now have wi-fi available in the park. - Missrobbie

Waters Edge is an attractive park with carefully groomed landscaping and generous, large, sites. Most are shaded. All are quiet. It is also a good place to stay if you want to be incommunicado. The only WiFi is at the office, which is along the very noisy highway and about 200 ft. from the closest site. Some sources claim the park has WiFi - a gross exaggeration. Also, since it is in a low spot, cell service is almost nil. My RepublicWireless phone (uses T-Mobile ?), my wife's TracFone (uses AT&T ?), and my SkyRoam hot spot could not communicate. The person who checked us in stated her Verizon service was unreliable in the park also. - JackSchmotzer
Dec 2015 - $38.00
Not far from the Sound. Sites need work. Many campers appear seasonal, but most are well maintained. Low water pressure. Not all sites are 50 amp. We got good satellite reception. No wifi. Shorter RVs and 5th wheels will do OK, but not for most big rigs. - leciel19

We arrived late one evening. We couldn't back into our site as there were cars and trucks blocking the way. The 50 amp wasn't working, so we had to run our generator all night for the air conditioner (95 degree weekend). Called the office first thing in the morning and they said the "electrician" wouldn't be in until 11am. He came and replaced the breaker. At check-in we asked if we could get any discount for the inconvenience and were told we could take $5 off our bill. Jeez! This was our second stay at this park. We came back because the location is perfect for our family...right on the beach, but we won't be coming back again. It's just too much of a headache to deal with the inconveniences during both of our stays! - Glenn Siron
May 2016 - $65.00
Stayed in site 86 right on the ocean. 25 yards from the path behind the motorhome to the beach. We encountered a very friendly staff person. Rate paid reflects three nights off season rate and one night season rate. Rate in season is $78 per night. Yikes. But location is everything. Full hookups including cable. No WiFi. Mostly very well maintained seasonal sites in this CG. For its size found it to be very quiet and sleeping to the sounds of the waves was great. Good stores for food and supplies in the area. Sites are tight but doable with slides and awning with many concrete aprons, sand and some grass. Put a bucket of water outside your door to rinse off sand before going into the RV. No trees contrary to the name of the campground. - travlinphoolz
Aug 2015 - $78.00
The hosts weren't overly friendly, but the ocean-front spots couldn't be beat!! There are a LOT of permanent folks, but everyone we met there was really nice! We did have to book a minimum of 5 nights for the ocean-front site, even though we could only stay 3, but the park was full, so it was worth it! The bathrooms/showers were clean, but needed a little "spiffing" up...great for washing off the sand before we headed back to the rig for our full-on showers. Would most definitely stay here again. - Glenn Siron

Aug 2019 - $110.00
Great location real close to the ocean beach, but....... Expensive per night. Poor internet (very very slow) and poor cable service (limited channels and most very fuzzy), for the inclusive cost. Two garbage pickups per day 9am & 4pm. Very small and tight parking on very sandy spots. Little to no grass. Lots of golf cart and bicycle action. Lots of dogs but pretty quiet considering the amount of campers, very crowded and seemingly on top of each other. Be prepared for tight turns and close spaces. With small white posts at corners. Not able to pull thru....took a few back ups. Old heavy picnic table at each site. We were lucky and had a tree. No real best part except for walking distance to the very clean beach, but not well lit at night. Would I go there again?? More than likely no. - KateandWayne
Apr 2019 - $63.00
Our experience was very good. Office staff very helpful and friendly. Park was in excellent condition. They experienced damage during Hurricane Florence, but have recovered nicely. Large sites with 30 & 50 amp service at most. (Our site was 30 amp only, sufficient for our camper.) Nice site map at their website with clear notations regarding electrical service at each site. Multiple bath houses located throughout the park, very well maintained. Park is oceanfront with beachfront canteen at top of the dunes. All facilities not opened at this time, due to early season, but they have a beautiful pool, go cart track, convenience store (with wine section), bike trails through Emerald Isle with convenient access to shopping, restaurants, and ice cream parlors. Cable TV available. Did not use wifi, in favor of hotspot. Nice sites suitable for all size rigs. - ECU Camper
Jul 2018 - $100.00
Sites were crowded together, however we were there at the busiest time of the year, so was expecting a crowd. Sites were grass and sand. Escorted to the site by one of the workers helped getting in. Our site was pretty close to the beach, so not a far walk which was very nice. When leaving, I had to ask the people next to us to move their truck so that I could get my camper out due to the congestion. My ranking of only good is due to the cost and crowding. The office persons were helpful. The pool looked very nice but was a long walk from our campsite. We didn't use it and opted for the beach instead. - steveNdonna

AT&T and Verizon signals good, about 38 OTA channels available. No wifi available. NO Water at site, must fill before arrival or at potable water station behind Host site. Have loved this campground for many years but sadly, cleanliness of bathrooms and showers is dependent on how much the host/co-host care about the facility. In the 4 days we were there, I witnessed the host in the bathhouse once, couldn't speak as to what he did. I can say that the same condition(dirty) of the men's room and the showers existed throughout our stay. With a little effort from the host/co-host in keeping the bathrooms/showers clean this would be a great location for visiting the Crystal Coast. - Chiefdoc

Jul 2019 - $27.00
Park is full this weekend and you wouldn't know it. Peaceful and large well maintained sites. Plenty of room for big rigs. No water/sewer hookups but there are spigots close by as well as water fill site near the dump station. Restrooms are clean, showers are nice and hot with good water pressure. Just outside of town and only 5 miles from the beach. Nice kayaking through the wetlands. So if you don't mind the peace and quiet, being away from the large crowds, convenience to activities and it being inexpensive then this is the place to be. Bring in water or fill up in park before setup. Have a couple of 5gal water jugs to use to fill and a sewer caddy if you plan to stay for more than 3 days so you don't have to break camp. - Cardwell

The campground is very neat, clean and well laid out. We walked along the water and spotted dolphins swimming by. Pelicans flew by, too. All hookups worked fine. Our site was a pull through and had a concrete pad with picnic table. There is no WiFi. The laundry had 2 washers and 3 dryers that all worked fine @ $1.50 each. - Melodycthomas

Of the nine famcamps we have stayed in (so far) this was the best. Very well maintained, clean, quiet and well laid out. Paved roads (blacktop) and large concrete sites (pull thru and back in). Would definitely stay there again. - Ron N Janice

This is a large park with many permanent or seasonal occupants. In this case that's not a negative because the park is well laid-out with lots of spaces for transients, plenty of room between sites, and is very well maintained. Pull through sites are quite long. There is very little shade anywhere in the park which could be an issue during the summer months. Interior roadways are paved and quite wide, sites in the transient areas are grass. - DrLewie
May 2019 - $65.00
As others have said this campground is predominently for seasonal guests. It's a very large campground and they do have quite a few sites for transient guests. The seasonal sites were very well kept and actually added to the good looks of the campground. Every thing about the park told me they know what they are doing and care about the campground. Power was excellent, landscaping beautiful, drainage very well laid out and streets wide and tarred. We had site L103 which was long enough for out 45' motorhome and out stacker trailer with out disconnecting. There was still lots of space on our lot for the car when I pulled it out of the stacker. All the transient sites appear to be wide and the same length. They also have a nice pool and playground for the kids. We enjoyed sitting out on their dock which has a covered lanai and 3 fish cleaning stations. They also have a boat ramp and storage spaces for boats and trailers when not in use. The office staff was nice and the store had lots of stock. Although the site was grass and it rained hard, the motorhome and trailer didn't sink in at all. The drainage is that good. We intially asked for 3 days which we changed to 8 days when we found how nice the campground and area were. - 06Millennium

Came down in the off season to check out the RV and make sure everything was working properly. Had a great relaxing visit to this park. Love the pier and the folks all seemed very nice. - Elwood1038
