Overall it was a better than average campground, we had a site right by the river which was nice but the site was on an incline and made it impossible to get my RV level. There was a small bathhouse near our site with 2 showers but we opted to use the ones in our RV. Lots of permanent residents vs actually families. I think the best way to sum up this campground was it met our needs and was average. We didn't have any issues (other than sloped site) but didn't find anything special about this location either. We would stay here again but it would not be our first choice. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Great people. Very accommodating even when a problem arose. Definitely coming back here. Falling asleep with the creek flowing is awesome. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

If you like rustic mountain camping with a roaring river, this campground is for you! If you like seclusion with a quiet surrounding environment, and upscale facilities this is not for you. We love this camp ground and go 4-5 times during their camping season. The owners are down to earth people. It is tight getting to the site but if you are a regular camper you'll be able to get in with no problems. Across the river has cabins everywhere. There isn't a "beach" but my kids love climbing on the rocks and playing in the river. Bring bug spray and wood. This campground is not for everybody but we love it! We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is an old campground which has been here for years, but it is very picturesque. It's very close to town and Chimney Rock Park. Most of this campground is set up for seasonals. They save a few sites on the river for transients. The interior roads are narrow and bumpy. I think a big rig would have trouble. The sites are pretty short, but we were fine in our 33' motorhome. There's a constant roar from the river, but it would be great for kids in the summer...huge boulders to climb on! The bathrooms have not been updated in years. We used the ones in the far section, and they were functional but very rustic.....but lots of hot water. Their reviews don't say they have WiFi, but they do, and it worked fine. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Access is by winding mountain roads and campground itself is very hilly. Some sites are right on the river which is delightful and perfect for a cool dip on a hot day. There is a playground for children, and the campground is close to Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure. The owners are so very helpful. We needed a nut for one of our bikes, and the owner drove to town to get one for us. The washers and dryers were great since we had laundry to do. The sites are shady and well-maintained. There are many permanent renters so plan in advance. The park filled while we were there, and many were turned away. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Owners were extremely nice but I agree with the 5 reviews below. Not really big rig friendly: you can get in, but it's very, very tight. Only 2 sites with 50 amp. Oddly the site for motorhome only was 30 amp. It worked well all week though. Everything is old and could use some cleaning. More permanent sites than daily. It's a great area: very peaceful. Would stay here again but those 9-star ratings here are misleading. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful, tranquil setting along a narrow section of the Broad River. We camped in a 26' Toyhauler and backed up to awesome views of the river with huge boulders and the sounds of running water for 4 glorious days and 3 nights. The entrance and roads can be tough to negotiate in a larger RV and there are only a couple of sites which will accommodate them. Mostly permanent sites on one side of the campground and just a handful of sites for tag a longs. Quite a few tent sites and one cabin with a bathroom. Very, very nice owners and clean bathrooms and showers. A great place to go to chill out and just enjoy the surroundings. Definitely going back! We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice campground. River front sites are great if you like to sit on giant rocks in the middle of a cold mountain stream. Some roads in the campground are very steep. Main entrance/road not too steep though. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful, roaring, clean river next to campsite. Huge boulders all around. Great views. A little tight entering campground but sites have plenty of room. Highly recommended. Book in advance they are always full. We camped at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.
