The owner was very helpful when we called and told us which sites she would recommend for our unit. Her husband usually helps people onto there sites but he was out of town. We were helped buy a nice seasonal camper who also delivered our wood. They split it on site and it comes not bundled. It is very generous plus only $5.00. They seem to be working on some of the sites by us. Rebuilding retaining walls and decks, our site had a deck but it was rotting and slanted but we still enjoyed it. There is a very nice pond with a bench and some walking paths. There seems to be a lot of seasonal campers, some looking permanent. We did buy fresh eggs and the chickens do like to roam, but we enjoyed them. The location was nice and we would stay again. In season they have activities. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground is very close to the Tyron Equestrian complex. Also within a half hour to very lovely wineries. The town of Forest City is close by with many nice shops. We had a beverage at The Twisted Pear, they have a nice bar in bottle shop, we enjoyed free flavored popcorn.

Staff very friendly and helpful. WiFi only available at office and close proximity. No cell service. Sewer only available at select sites. Gravel roads need work. Permanent campers need to clean up around their sites. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be clear on what your specific site has when making your reservations. Only selected sites have sewer and WiFi is only available at the office. There is no cell service for Verizon. I hear T-Mobile works. All sites are the same nightly rate regardless if you have full hookup or not. The back cul de sac has a number of permanent campers that we'll say are less than tidy and is also next to a service area that has old equipment and junk parked. Not the most picturesque sites I've seen.

Overall Rating:

The proprietors are super nice and extremely helpful. We were given a pull-thru, which was great, but up by the office there is clutter and things aren't as tidy as they should be - overturned trash cans, boxes, etc. I think camping in the back would be better for scenery, as it is a scenic place, but those are back-ins. For one night, the pull thru was great, but if you want to spend a few days, go towards the back. Also, they have their own unbundled firewood and they are very generous with it. That one fact made up for everything else. There is a nice pool, too. It was easy to get to, with excellent roads. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Nearby Forest City is an adorable town, with nice restaurants and a cute downtown for strolling. The only grocery is Food Lion, though.

We stayed for 4 days, and the staff was very friendly. They gave us a great site. It's a good location, and nice & quiet. Some of the sites didn't look like they were open yet, but it was early in the season. There were a number of seasonal renters. Some of their campsites were neat and clean. Others not so much. We would definitely stay here again! We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We actually hated to leave this camp! The owners were so friendly and helpful! One of us needed to see a Doctor and we were directed to the best Urgent Care in the area, recommended by the owners. That was a great relief being that we were from out of state. When the weekend arrived so did more campers. We were concerned that camp would become noisy at night. It didn't happen. The owners stay on top of keeping the camp enjoyable for all. We saw kids enjoying the sparkling swimming pool and playground area. We would love to camp here again. No negatives. This is a very friendly, family oriented campground. I have never had owners as helpful as the owners of this campground. They came around regularly to see if we needed anything, but were in no way intrusive. There was a lot of time and energy spent on the numerous events planned for the Halloween weekend. The park was nicely tended to and bathrooms were clean. We will most definitely stay here again. Enjoyed every minute. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This is indeed a family friendly campground withe the management actively engaged in organizing games and taking care of the facilities. Their location on a couple big hills with lots of trees makes it seem rustic, but it presents some challenges along with the ambiance. I found the young manager to be extremely helpful when I had a rainwater leak during a downpour. I liked the nice swimming pool and the nature trails as well as the hilly setting. They provide discounts for Passport America during the week and for Good Sam on other days. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a terrible experience. My girlfriend and I are avid campers and chose to settle for the summer at Foothills Family Campground while she was working for the National Park Service just across the border in South Carolina. It was a summer-long position, and in such, required her to be there for three months, or there about. So she chose to take her pop-up Palomino camper along and set up shop for the summer. First of all, we were taken around the park by some guy in a golf cart to tour the open sites (thankful for that, by the way), but after half a day's work, we were regretfully informed that he was "just the maintenance guy" and showed us three lots that were "reserved" for Labor Day Weekend. After two hours of leveling THEIR pad, we were forced to move. (I work in hospitality and reservations are NOT guarantees in this industry. I think our situation applies). Anyhow, after going to the nearest town for a bite to eat, we are called and told we need to move. We do so, but ask where we can relocate to...They decided to put us next to an actual house at the front of the park. A house complete with exterior lighting. It was a complete disaster. The lighting became an issue. Rules only apply when it is convenient to the campground owners (ie, they will host karaoke events that go onwards of midnight when they feel that it will make them a buck, yet require you to follow their rules to the T when you have the audacity to ask the mother-in-law to shut off her lamps so you can get your two-year-old to bed. This place is okay if you are the type that considers "camping" the type of place where you walk to the local playground and chide your daughter of seven for daring to get into the sand-pit with her flip flops on because they "cost too much money to get dirty". (that actually happened while we were there). Place: total joke. Would down-vote if possible. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a wonderful time! The staff went out of their way to make sure everyone had a fabulous trip. They were super friendly and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant experience. They offered several fun activities each day and sent a wagon around to pick us up from our site. We camped with our 11 and 14 year old and never ran out of fun things to do. Very clean, beautiful sites, great atmosphere for families. Highly recommend! Best camping trip ever thanks to the hospitality from the owners! We will be back for sure! Husband & I were here for almost 3 months while he was working in the area. It's clean, quiet, & peaceful, & I enjoyed many lovely sunsets! The owners are very nice folks who escorted us to our lot & were able to supply us with info about the area. Wifi is only available at the front of the campground, but I have it already with my phone. Always able to get a strong signal for my AT&T phone. This place was awesome, & we will definitely return!! We have been camping here since 07 and always get excited when it's time for our yearly visit. The owners are wonderful people, ready and willing to make your visit enjoyable. Beautiful, well kept campground with all updated bath houses. Great activities offered most weekends throughout the summer season. We rate this one a 10. We have been using RV Park Reviews for several years and have never felt misled by any of the reviews until now. We travel in a 36' rig with a tow vehicle. The campground straddles two hills and is bisected by a small creek. The grade is steep going down and up. They have about 3 pull through sites, but you will need to disconnect your tow vehicle before pulling in to the campground. Getting out of the space required pulling forward and backing up several times to negotiate the nearly 180 degree turn. The bathrooms are located in a damp and dark basement under the main office. The hallway is lit by a single light bulb. The door entering the bathroom area is black from dirty hands and appears to have never been cleaned. The fixtures are at least 30 years old and the plywood partitions have rotted at the bottom in spite of numerous coats of paint. There are a large number of full-time residents some with metal pole buildings to cover their trailers, others with a lot of junk on their sites and trailers that look like they have been in the woods for years. The campground is in a rural setting and is at least 15 miles from the nearest shopping. We originally reserved this for 3 days but left after 1 day. We camped at Foothills Family Campground in a Motorhome.

We are frequent campers and have been up and down the east coast many times. We have stayed at beach campgrounds to mountain campgrounds. This was our first time camping at Foothills Family Campground in Forest City, but it will not be our last. I cannot say enough positive things about this campground and its owners. Our site was perfect and the staff/owners are some of the nicest people we've ever met. They had so many wonderful things planned for us during our stay there and we have already made reservations for October of this year. We highly recommend this campground. Book without worry.
