Love this state park to camp in. Nice private spots. Heavily wooded area.
Facilities leave much to be desired. Need better cleaning, maintenance and ugh the spiders. LOL.
The staff and rangers were very helpful and made sure you were safe. - RayMarGone
Jul 2019 - $40.00
Very clean park, plenty of trees. Higher numbers in B loop, closer to lake. But easy walking from all the sites. - Kenjr
Mar 2019 - $27.00
Nice, large, wooded sites. Plenty of room for a second vehicle or boat. Dump station on site. Fishing pier and boat ramp in the campground. Access to the Mountains-to-Sea hiking trail. Play area and equipment for the kids and a large bathhouse. Another superb NC state park. Lots of boating and water recreation available (nearby marina). Also a swim area with a sandy beach. Many spots offer waterfront or overlook the lake. - ricks99

Loved this beautiful park. Very shaded, wooded sites. Spacious and roomy. We had neighbors on both sides of us but the sites are set in such a way that you don't see your neighbor. We chose a site from the map that as t looked like it was on the shore, but it was too wooded to walk down to it, however the swim beach was just down the road from us. We didn't need to use our awnings - there was ample shade. The lake was like bath water! Very warm and refreshing! - Nan Griff
Sep 2019 - $30.00
booked online, $9.00 booking fee (rip off) and discount for over 60?. Was there with Airstream Club Unit 161 Piedmont group rally so we are one of 9 units. Sites are good size, clean, fire ring and lot of stuff to burn all around. Bath houses usable but in need of updating. no hot water in showers which can SUCK. (not hard to do with solar nowadays) and no heat or cooling during summer. could use some doors on stalls and just a good overall updating of the bath houses at min. Power at pedestal was 116v on our and 134 on neighbors. (30 amp) be sure to check the socket as some are not in good shape, got hot and warped. water was good with strong pressure, no smells etc. nice fire rings and lantern hook. Not bad overall for a 20 plus year old place but showing it age. - carl2591
Aug 2019 - $32.00
Beautiful park, shaded lots, very spacious. Trash cans throughout the entire park and always kept empty. Very secluded. We even had lake view from our site - Joan Weesies

This campground is part of a mobile home park but separate. The mobile home park is run down. The signage is very poor. No one in the "office", you have to request a site & they will email you if there's availability. If there's available sites, make sure you read the email they send you. You have to call before you arrive with an estimated time so someone would direct you to your site. There's many here that are full time residents that do keep the sites neat. The transients are workers or here for the hospitals in the area. The sites themselves are on crushed asphalt, long enough to fit the truck & trailer. Side to side distance OK. Utilities located behind the sites. FHU. No cable or wifi but if you are staying long term, you can pay for it through local companies. We got 30 OTA channels & excellent 4G Verizon service. There is a picnic table also. Laundry room is small. No bath houses, propane filling & playground. Plenty of places to walk your dog. At night there's very bright lighting. I would stay somewhere else, probably would drive further to see my daughter here. - c+jp 5rvers

We stayed here years ago and were hesitant about returning. Let me just say, I'm so glad we did come back!! The owner & his son recently took over hands-on management and this place is top notch! It is super quiet, clean, close to everything yet hidden in a little forest where you watch deer just walking thru every day. The owner and/or son are out there daily. It was a breeze getting in & out. The price was really good for this area ($40 with full hook-ups). Heck, we even got a bag of home-made organic muffins & home-made dog cookies for our pup the day we checked in. I know this place really serves those in treatment who need to be close to the hospital but I also met workers, regular travelers & traveling nurses that had nothing but rave reviews. The owner obviously cares about this place and it really does show now! We'll be back for sure!! - mur5run
Jan 2015 - $32.00
This place is a dump! The internet photos are misleading. If you don't mind old car and RV parts laying around everywhere, sloppy looking trailers, and an overall trashy look....then you'll be ok with it. At $32 a night it is much higher than state parks. I left as soon as possible! Definitely don't bring children here. - R Moutz
May 2014 - $14.00
I stayed here 3 months while working in Durham. I am guessing that about 75% of these sites are full of RVs that don't ever go anywhere. The manager is helpful and patrols the park endlessly. I felt very safe here. Besides the sites that have "permanent residents" the shorter term sites seem to cater to patients of Duke who come from all over the country for medical care. There are no showers. Sites are NOT level. Washers and dryers are ineffective. Electric is included. Cable and Internet are available through Time Warner Cable (ugh). This is really not much more than a trailer park. This place serves if you have things to do in Durham... It is NOT "fun camping" and certainly not an RV "resort". The rate is figured at 420/month divided by 30 days. - TravelRNFullTimer

Good location if you are visiting Raleigh. Airport noise is noticeable but it seemed to quiet a bit at night. Spaces are smaller and will not accommodate a larger RV. Park is clean but bathrooms need a bit of updating. Hot showers are included in camping fee. - badtoytrd
Sep 2012 - $20.00
First time camping here although it is less than 30 minutes from home. There are just a few sites that will accommodate a popup camper. We stayed on site 22 which is large enough to work for us. Fairly quiet campground other than the airplanes coming and going into nearby RDU. Overall a nice campground if you can live without electrical hook ups. - jrackley
Mar 2010 - $18.00
Nice park but not designed for campers. There are 2 maybe 3 sites that can accommodate a trailer. There are no hook ups and they close the gate at 2000 until 0600. Nice park to visit and maybe if you camp in a tent it's fine but not for a camper. No alcohol allowed in the park if that's a consideration for you. - tx_rambler

Okay, we read the review and thought we'd give the fairgrounds a shot. BIG mistake. About three days before we arrived, we called the campground to ensure they had space. He indicated they had plenty for the days we were there. So, we arrived, every space in the large campground was occupied. There is a Bluegrass festival in Raleigh and apparently the person we called did not know about it. We also learned the Bluegrass Association "reserved" spaces for their hundreds of members and overbooked. We slso learned that apparently hurricane Dorian victims are living in the park. So, we were ""fortunate to get a space in the overflow section, Gate 5. Worst place we've ever stayed. Loud, noisy road directly across from a mill, train crossing about 100 feet from the sites. No sleep at all. Sites here are very steep slope downward- you'll never level it. No shade, no sealed sewer connections. My best advice is to find a campground with a reservation system that guarantees you a space. Our last experience with, "no reservation required." - Padsforlife
Jul 2019 - $30.00
This is the state fair grounds in Raleigh NC. All sites are first come, first serve- no reservations. The camp ground is in the back side of the fair grounds, accessed by a dirt road. The sites are back in with level gravel. There is plenty of room to maneuver around and park an extra vehicle. All the utilities worked well and easy to hook up. There is minimal shade and some grass. The cell phone signals are strong. It is very basic, but works well for a night or two. - Pacatrader
Jul 2019 - $30.00
Stayed there for a Carolina Ballet performance - our granddaughter performed. We commented on how nice and safe we felt there. It is very clean, nice shade tree on or near each site. It is quiet, full hookups, and very easy to navigate. This was our second visit. Hope to go back in late August for a football game. Can't beat the price. - Beachma

We've stayed here a number of times while visiting Chapel Hill. Very convenient to town. You essentially park in the woods! Our site was a huge pull through. Could of easily parked another 45 footer on it! Folks running the place were simply superb. We had never stayed this early in the fall....always winter before so did not account for the oak trees raining acorns on the roof of the coach assisted by a very robust squirrel population! The sound of acorns pummeling the roof didn't bother us at all.....but our dogs were put out!! No satellite hookup because of the trees. Cable is offered but you need to get a box from the office. We had plenty of over the air channels. Didn't use the wifi. Good Verizon signal. We will be back! - SHIPM8

Quiet and great management. A little back a way so no traffic noise. - Catastrophie
Jun 2019 - $40.00
Stayed here for six nights while grandson was in basketball camp. We were in site 26. This site the water hook up was in the ground and since my husband has bad knees he had a hard time getting down to hook up and the hole filled with water and our site flooded with water and made a muddy mess. Also weeds and trees were grown over our picnic table and a large bag worm nest was above the patio making it impossible to want to sit outside or cookout. Getting out of car I got scratched several times because of the type of flower in driveway. Water pressure was so low that you could hardly rinse your hair out. Trees were so thick that it felt like night even during the day with all the windows open and shades up. No TV and very little wifi. Full timers live there and their places looked awful, trashy, windows broken, unkept. No one seemed friendly that we spoke to. About 15-20 minutes to Chapel Hill for shopping and restaurants. - Ralph and Pat

I called Bill Plemmons RV dealer on 06/04/2018 ... they no longer rent out campsites... the lady was very nice and gave me the phone numbers for 3 other campgrounds... 7 for being helpful... - Miaoreo
Nov 2010 - $36.00
Just a place to park and sleep if your visiting others in town. All sites are back in, and most of the camping area is dedicated to storage with a few monthly residents. We stay here when visiting as it is safe and there are no other options anyway. - Systemsnet
Oct 2010 - $30.00
I would like to clarify that this is not a campground but a camping area behind the RV Dealer. We stayed here for a month while renovations were being done to our home. It was convenient and fairly quiet. Sites are somewhat level and all sites have 30 amp only. There is a fair amount of mud around if it is rainy, and dusty if dry. But it was convenient for us and met our needs. Office staff was very accommodating. - eaglesfan

The only reason I don't rate this a 10 is that there are no full hookups here. Well love Jordan Lake and stay here whenever we are in the area. - CindyL
Sep 2019 - $16.00
Jordan Lake is a beautiful lake, recreation, and camping area. Like most CG's maintained by the Corps of Engineers, sites are huge compared to private CG's w/excellent maintenance, plenty of shade and clean. The downside, I think, is price (excluding what us & our very nice discount) compared to value. $30/night is a bit high for the area considering these are not full hook-up sites, offer no wifi @ sites or in the park that I know of, and no access to cable or satellite. Aside from swimming, boating & fishing, which likely most come for, there are none of the usual CG amenities. Not even a CG store. Yes; this is a wonderful State Park, and we have stayed in many. Most are extremely nice, and usually most of us aren't looking for a lot of amenities in them. But full hookups would be nice and even wifi. If I'd known all of this before my husband reserved for an extended time, I would've suggested a CG closer to Cary or Apex. - medicscript99
Jul 2019 - $30.00
The campground, a COE project operated by the state, recently underwent renovations. All new electricity hook ups and modernized bath houses highlight the improvements. Plus the entrance gate now remains open 24 hours. No sewer hook ups prevent a 10 rating. - igor2brvn

Great State Park Camping. We were walkups and found a great site in Loop 3. Site was awesome, swimming hole fantastic and our overall experience was great. Bathrooms were good, but not as clean as I would like. - TampaTMM
Aug 2016 - $17.00
I love NC State Parks, my only real complaint about Jordan Lake and it's campgrounds is that the pictures on the website are outdated and there is A LOT of drop off now. You never really know what kind of waterfront site you will get until you get there. The picture makes it look like a nice beach, but when you get there it's all stumps and a rocky drop off you have to climb down to get to the water. Other than that and the bathrooms needing an update in some campgrounds, Jordan Lake is nice. The sites are always clean and nicely sized. - LittleLadyBliss
Sep 2013 - $19.00
An absolutely delightful place for a night or a week. The rate is the senior rate. In September during the week the park is almost empty. Although there is no cable, it is easy to gain TV with a regular antenna. - WNC Traveler
