The most amazing resort we've ever stayed at. Not a bush was out of place, each spot was huge, beautiful, spacious, and super quiet. We made several long term friends, and we will be back yearly to this fantastic resort. All sites are back in or pull in, but plenty of room to maneuver. No complaints at all. We loved it. If you're not AT&T, you won't have good cell service, and their wifi is hit or miss. Take advantage of the three pools, lazy river, fountains, restaurants, ice cream, lake beach, etc, etc. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is an old Prevost park with all owner lots that has access to the Rumbling Bald resort (RBR) a mile down the hill/road (no bike or walking access). The resort has all the amenities (lake, pools, pickelball/tennis, wifi, etc). There is a great little cafe (Victory) near the entrance of the park as well as a self service produce stand. The park itself has no staff, it is self service, RBR handles all reservations and guest services but any issue with the park is referred to the owners association. Operating a park by committee does not make a great park and this shows. The wi-fi is pretty useless (.2mbs or less usually), there is no cable, no OTA, only analog voice on VZ with no ATT service (this becomes a safety issue for weather alerts), and trash cans went full. As this is a mature park, satellite reception is dependent on your site. The utilities worked well. RBR is great, crowded on weekends less so during the week with lots to do. Without the RBR access this park would not be a good choice. The roads into the park (64 Buffalo Creek and Bills Creek) are narrow and winding with trees needing to be trimmed, so plan on dodging branches. My antenna even skimmed an overhead wire on 64 West heading out. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Because of mountain roads it takes a while to get places Hendersonville, Asheville, and Costco are all an hour. Walmart is about 30 minutes. The Lake Lure beach area and Chimney Rock are very crowded on weekends and so is highway 64 through them.

This is a beautiful and quiet place to stay. The lake could be larger and more pristine and cable TV would be nice, but the views, the size of the lots, the peacefulness and the neighborhood feel make you quickly forget those minor things. The resort is kept very well and each lot is landscaped. We were so happy with the place that we are looking into purchasing a lot. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is an absolutely beautiful and peaceful resort campground. It is part of a golf / lake resort and all the amenities are available to people staying at the resort. Each spot is owned by an "owner" and rented out through Apple Valley Farm. There are no services here in fact you check in through a envelope picked up at the entrance. But if you want peace and just a beautiful spot it's worth the drive, which is a somewhat challenging but follow the web site instructions and take your time you will be fine. Many of the restaurants in the area are open Thursday - Sunday. All sites are either back in or pull in sites. We used site 148 a pull in and found the power, water, and sewer to be fine. Internet worked ok two out of the 4 days. There is no cable and no channels using the antenna, however the satellite on our site worked fine. Nice people in a beautiful place We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is an owner resort so each site has different features but they are all spacious. The highway into the resort is narrow and windy but we drove our 45 ft Motorhome and tow in and out without issue using our GPS. The online reservations system allowed us to book a site that was not available and we had to be placed on an alternate site when we arrived. The power was not working on that site but they had it repaired the next day. We cleaned the patio furniture so we could use it. The Wifi in the park was essentially unusable and our Verizon cell phones and mobile broadband only worked sporadically even with our booster. We had some difficulty getting mail delivered that we had forwarded from home as there is no full time staff at the park. There is no clubhouse, showers, bathroom, or laundry available as these are all in the owners only building. There is no dog park. However, this is part of Rumbling Bald resort so you can access their facilities -pool, exercise room, trails, golf, etc about 5 miles away. We didn't use these during our stay. The park didn't suit our needs very well and the cell and Wifi was really a problem but if your visit keeps you nearby and you can take advantage of the resort facilities, it might be a better experience. All the people we met and the Rumbling Bald guest services by phone were very friendly and tried to be helpful. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The park and the entire Lake Lure area is very pretty.

We drove to the Blueridge Parkway one day and the Biltmore another. Each was about a one hour drive one way due to the windy roads.

We just returned from AVF and we had a great time! This resort is conveniently located near major interstates, but the last few miles into the resort can be challenging depending on time of day and weather conditions. Slow down, pay attention, and you'll be fine. When you turn into the resort, stop and grab your welcome pack. Hopefully, you will have studied the site map on their website in advance, as there is no one to guide you to your site. The site you have chosen will determine which way you turn to navigate to your site. Worst case if you decide to just wing it is you make a victory lap of the resort and have to start over. We were there during the Fall Owners Rally and we met several owners. They welcomed us into their "family" and were exceptionally gracious and accommodating. The resort really is as pretty as the pictures. Being there in mid-October we were treated to beautiful fall colors and cool temperatures. As each site is individually owned, there are a wide variety of amenities and upgrades amongst the different sites. Some are spectacularly landscaped and fitted out with waterfalls, fire pits, grills, decks, furniture, gazebos, etc. A couple are just a concrete slab with a couple of plants in need of a little TLC. We stayed on two different sites during our 10-day stay. The first was site 150. One of the premier lots in the resort overlooking the lake with its own private waterfall. After the first week we wanted to stay longer, but being prime leaf-peeping season the resort was sold out. Luckily, one of the owners contacted another owner and we were able to move to site 155. Great back-in lot with a terrific lake/mountain view. AVF is beautiful, a reasonable drive from Florida, the people we met were delightful. We'll be back! This location is strictly a Class A motorhome camp ground. They have strict rules as to the minimum size (36') and age of the motorhome (nothing older than 10 years). All lots are privately owned but are rented through the Rumbling Bald Resort at Lake Lure. For the price of the rental you have full access to the resort which includes golf course, pool, restaurants, spas, walking and hiking trails, private lake access, marina, amongst other amenities. The motorhome park is outside the main resort gate, however this is a good thing as the motorhome resort is quiet, very clean and well maintained. All are full hook up sites, with concrete pads and many of the sites come with wood decks, outdoor fireplaces, benches, swings, etc. This sites are very lush and hide most of the motorhomes quite well, while you can see some of them it is hard to see all of them, thus also making it a very private location. If the price of admission doesn't scare you off, then this is a really beautiful place to stay, within an hour of Asheville, many hiking trails, Chimney Rock, and other mountain attractions. The town of Lake Lure also offers more restaurants, shopping at Chimney Rick village, and picnic areas, plus a beautiful lake beach. Acceptable wifi, no cable, but satellite reception at least on our site was excellent. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This small RV resort is quiet, private, and just our style. Because it is part of the Rumbling Bald Resort at Lake Lure (a short 3/4 mile away) you have access to all their amenities--golfing, swimming, boating, dining. Apple Valley itself does not have amenities other than a lovely small lake. All lots are privately owned, with level concrete pads, open above (good if you use satellite) but thickly landscaped on the sides to provide shade and nice privacy screening. WiFi can be slow. No cable. Small laundry room and one bathroom with shower available. People were very friendly and helpful. Be sure to follow driving directions given on website and not your GPS. Last part of the drive (about 20 miles) is on windy roads and some are not friendly to motor homes! Would definitely return. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This park is gorgeous. Each site is privately owned. I don't think we got our money's worth, however. There was no porch furniture on site. There was a fire pit, but it had a cover that was disintegrating and had shrunken so it couldn't easily be pulled off. There is no dog run. The wifi was very slow. A hefty accommodation tax is added on to the daily rate. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We spent a few days at this gem of a resort. Check in is a little disorganized as a previous poster mentioned. Great site overlooking the lake and great amenities included with the site rental at the resort just right down the road. Verizon cell service was sketchy and Wi-Fi seemed very weak in the area of the park we were in. We have three children and they loved the kids pool at Rumbling Bald Resort. This is a very well maintained resort, restricted to Class A only 35ft or longer diesel pushers, set in the beautiful resort of Rumbling Bald on 3000 acres. The road is paved and there is good security. All sites are fully concrete, level and pull in, most sites face a lovely lake, big rig access is good. Very quiet with plenty of space and privacy around the RV. The landscaping is wonderful with plenty of shade trees and shrubs which adds to the sense of privacy, some sites have gazebos, swings, decks etc. and we had a lovely view over the lake. Fun to watch the geese and their babies. There are no laundry or bathroom facilities. Wi-Fi and cell are good. You can view their website for photos of each lot you might want to stay on. There is a supermarket with diesel not too far away from the resort as well as local restaurants. We highly recommend Huckleberry's, a two minute walk from the resort, wonderful food, attentive staff and great ambience. Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and Asheville are great for sightseeing. The resort has so many activities, golf, tennis, pools, hiking, lake cruises, as well as a couple of restaurants. However, there is 20 miles of fairly narrow country roads to get to the resort. There is no cable and the registration and check in process is somewhat disorganized. We would stay here again.   We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The actual name is the Apple Valley Motorcoach Resort. It is located within the Rumbling Bald Resort and is reached through their website and phone numbers. The most beautiful RV resort we have ever stayed at. Originally developed to accommodate Prevost owners only, it is now available for public use (class A coaches only). Most sites face a beautiful lake with magnificent scenery everywhere. Tons of stuff to do at this resort. 2 golf courses, boating, tennis, exercise area, on site restaurants, hiking trails, chapel, etc. All sites are fully concreted, some with gazebos, grills, swings, waterfalls, water wheels, etc. View the website photos of each lot. Located near Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, NC Hendersonville and Asheville, 30 minutes away. There are numerous restaurants and shops nearby in addition to a large supermarket with diesel. If you book more than 3 nights, you get 2 nights free. A true sleeper and relatively unknown to most RVers. We camped at Apple Valley Farm RV Resort in a Motorhome.
