Very nice campground!! We opted for the pull thru site since it was in the open and had sunshine but if we come back, will have a back-in site on the creek. Staff very friendly and helpful. All utilities were good. Very peaceful setting and close to Blue Ridge Pkwy although the road to the pkwy was difficult to maneuver. We camped at Buck Creek RV Park (formerly Buck Creek Campground and Driving Rang in a Fifth Wheel.

We found the pre-arrival phone calls to be helpful and polite. Good instructions on how to drive to the camp. It was easy to get to and big rig friendly. The host owners are over the top with kind help about local attractions and set up etc. Sewer did not accept water as fast as my hose fed it. Some overflow onto the ground. It was not a thread on connection. Power was good. Water seemed a little low on pressure but it was good. We plan to go back. We had a motor home with dolly tow. We stored our dolly a short distance away and stayed backed up to the creek. Drive 80 to the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a hoot to drive 80. I fell in love with our new to us Mini Cooper as we worked our way up 80. The mountain area you are in offers waterfalls, driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway and lots of little towns with special shops. It is a lush area to explore. Great people and great scenery. When driving your rig in from I40 do not miss the turnoff on 80 to Toms Creek road. If you miss that intersection......just do not miss it. We camped at Buck Creek RV Park (formerly Buck Creek Campground and Driving Rang in a Motorhome.

The campground has a bunch of sites around the perimeter of a nice green field of grass. The sites on one side of the field are along a nice river, those are the best. They are all back-in sites. They have 4 sort of pull-thru sites out in the field, it's really more like parallel parking than a real pull-thru, though. All sites are shady except for the "pull-thru" sites. Some sites have cable TV and there is WiFi in the camp. I found the WiFi unusable at times, and other times it worked pretty well. Verizon cell signal is weak but usable most of the time. I felt the price was a bit high for what you get. No pool, dirty laundry room, marginal showers, but the river was nice. At night is is very dark, so bring a flashlight, great for star gazing, though. Owner is nice, but he likes to talk and is not bashful about espousing his views on a variety of topics. Access for big rigs is good, although some of the back-in sites might be difficult for larger units. We chose one of the pull-thru sites for our 42 foot coach. We camped at Buck Creek RV Park (formerly Buck Creek Campground and Driving Rang in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed the two weeks we spent at this wonderful park. A very quiet and peaceful setting. We had a back in site right on the bank of Buck Creek, lots of room and great neighbors. Our two large dogs loved getting to run in the big meadow in the center of the park. (all areas were nicely mowed and well maintained). The owner and his family went out of their way to insure we had a memorable stay, providing insight on the attractions, services and great places to eat in the local area. Very hospitable hosts. We truly enjoyed our stay in Western North Carolina, and will certainly return to this beautiful campground. Kinda close sites for backing. Pull through as are in the open. Lots of open space in the middle. Wish our site had been cleaned prior to our arrival....lots of cigarette butts and fire ring was full of ashes. We just got a new Class C motor home and took it to the NC mountains for a shake down. We were extremely pleased with Buck Creek Campground. We asked for a creek side spot, with cable. The owner is very helpful. We got site # 5, and it was very nice. The Wi-Fi and cable worked very well, which is not always the case at campgrounds. The sites are shaded, and very pretty. The campground is all gravel, and there are no special amenities. However, there are 2 swimming holes that kids would probably love, but for younger children use life jackets. Tips for other Campers:

It is a convenient area with things to see a do: Waterfalls to see, specialty shops to visit eg. The Honey House at Sweet Betsy Farm, hiking and biking the Greenway, other towns to drive to eg. Black Mountain, Ashville, Lake Lure, etc. In the NC mountains there are a lot of local festivals, so check on that is you go. We stubble on the "Live Mush Festival", which was interesting. Especially the Hog Calling Contest. We were never at one of those, LOL.

Buck Creek is a beautiful mountain stream that borders the RV park. Great swimming hole. The owner is most accommodating and pleasant. Most evenings around sunset he and his son will amaze you with the remote control airplane flying over the beautiful open field. Most spaces are shaded and back up to the creek. Very relaxing to listen to the water flowing over the rocks at night. We camped at Buck Creek RV Park (formerly Buck Creek Campground and Driving Rang in a Motorhome.

Reasonable rate and very friendly staff. Office has all the key things you may need. Wi-Fi worked well during our stay. Sites put campers right next to each other but not on top of each other. We've had much worse at KOAs. All back-in sites are nicely shaded on the creek. Was busy on the weekend but less so during the week. Had several quiet evenings with a nice campfire. Site was newly graveled and pretty level as well. Huge grassy area for kids who need space, so great for families who need a place for kids to play without disturbing the neighbors. Not a ton of restaurants other than fast food in the area, so we recommend stocking up at the local grocery stores and making your own meals at this location. Had a very enjoyable stay and will be back when in the area. We camped at Buck Creek RV Park (formerly Buck Creek Campground and Driving Rang in a Motorhome.

This campground sits on a very large tract of beautiful land, open in the middle with a fine grass field and surrounded by forest. All sites nestle under the trees along the edge of the property, and most of them back up to Buck Creek, which makes for terrific swimming (two swimming holes) and the comforting sounds of a bubbling creek. The sites are mostly level with a thin layer of gravel over dirt, a picnic table, a fire-ring, and decent hookups. Long RVs (e.g. Class A's) will likely use up 100% of there space. Our 23-ft'r fits fine with room left in front for our toad. Many RVers with long RVs would park their toads in the grass, opposite their sites. When we arrived there weren't many people here and it felt great. But when the weekend came, we got neighbors on both sides and suddenly it felt pretty tight. There is a very clean restroom with showers, and a clean laundry room with two sets of washer/dryers. The WiFi was decent before the crowd got here; now it's touch-n-go... Verizon signal is only 2-3 bars of 3G most of the time... sometimes better, sometimes worse. The host is very nice and friendly. We would definitely stay here again! Tips for other Campers:

The town of Marion is nearby, and they have a large Food Lion, a Lowe's, Wendy's, McD's, a small department store called Peebles, etc., so a fair selection of stores. There's even a tiny Camping World nearby. Things not to miss in the area: the Biltmore in Asheville; go to the top of Mount Mitchell; and there are multiple waterfalls not to far off.

This is a very nice campground overall. First the positives. Most sites are right on a creek and shaded. The creek is refreshing to swim in or fun for a short tube ride. The owners are very polite and helpful. The bath house is kept clean. Now for the negatives. Some of the sites are little on the narrow side and not all of them have cable. The bath house is very old and the stalls and showers are very small. I plan on visiting this campground again. We camped at Buck Creek RV Park (formerly Buck Creek Campground and Driving Rang in a Tent Trailer.

Pretty pricey for what you get. No store, no pool, cable is poor. Cable company now requires a separate box for each TV. Park requests $50 fee for each, until returned. No local TV available. Advertised golf driving range but they said they shut it down for lack of interest. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. We loved staying at Buck Creek Campground! The owner is friendly and very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. He gave us wonderful advice on things to see! We are in our fourth year of full-timing and this park is in our top five parks we've stayed in. We stayed here a month and wished we could have stayed longer. This is beautiful park. Lots of space between sites, quiet, no road noise. Good layout; plenty of room to back in, and the sites are shady. All sites have good layer of gravel. The sites back up to a beautiful, clean creek and is good place to swim. The only drawback is the nearby town Marion has nothing to do and very few shops. We loved this campground. It was great and the owner was a fantastic guide on places to go and things to do while there. We were in a pull through and loved being right on the field of action of the remote controlled planes. Loved being surrounded by mountains. Good walking area; great stream and really good visit here. We will definitely be back...5 days were not long enough. This is a great place to stay while checking out the sites. We were in site #20, which is a pull-through (sorta). These pull-throughs are actually front to back, and not side by side. The owner/operator keeps this place up really well. He and his sons often fly their RC airplanes, and really put on a show. The runway was just outside our front door. We were planning on staying just one week, but extended another week, because we really like it here. We would certainly come back, if in the area.
