VERY TIGHT SPOTS--Hard to get into. Each site has a wooden area for picnic table; therefore, limited space. Laundry facilities are perfect. Activity staff very friendly and uplifting. Thought it would've been nice to have all "first timers" introduce themselves at the chili cookoff because there seemed to be a lot of "regulars" there. Roads are a little worn and rough to drive on. All activities are held at the rear of the campground which is very hilly to get to. - FullTimerAt66
Jul 2019 - $1.00
Very nice park with a few trails and lots of hills. Lots of amenities (mini golf, children & adult pools, coffee bar & cafe to just name a few). Some of them are outdated and are in need of fixing (which they are working on) such as the tennis courts, basketball courts, shuffleboard). A few ponds with fishing in at least one of them. Huge park - LOTS of people - expect close neighbors. Satellite is hit or miss depending on your site. Verizon signal was weak. - Wandering With Us
May 2019 - $1.00
The staff is very courteous and friendly, facilities were clean and well maintained. The adult pool is finished and looks great. The area they put us is about as far as one could get from the entrance/office. If you have a separate vehicle from your RV there would be no problem, but it is a long walk or bike ride for us with lots of uphill stretches. The only dumpster for trash is at the entrance. We set out for it and ran across one of the staff members who took it for us in his golf cart. Sites in this area are all gravel as are the roads. Space between sites is OK and about normal for a commercial camp ground. Our site is not exactly level, but we were able to get close enough with our jacks without resorting to blocks under wheels. We actually got cell service for our Track phones and Verizon Hot spot. We get a few TV stations over the air. Considering the remote location, we were pleasantly surprised. - John Fox

Well maintained. Friendly Staff. Hiking at Reservoir. Clean bathroom/Showers. Site 100 was a flat walk to bathhouse/showers and had a nice view of water. Sites in B Loop are hilly and shady. Some sites in A Loop are right on the water. There is a little peninsula where sites have 3 sided water view. - Jan Orlando

This is the place that RVrs don't want others to know about. Awesome views, great service, perfect sites. No Wi-Fi but ATT cell had three bars and LTE. Went to Mount Airy and the Wilks Heritage museum ... both were great. - wadebbi

Very nice park. No cell or wifi. Nice night over, but we would not make it a destination park. When we arrived just after a series of torrential rains all loops were closed but one. For a night over it was just fine. - garmp

COE Pk at W. Kerr Scott Lake This is a very nice, clean, quiet park during the week, busy on weekends. Sites are backin, w/e only, very roomy, clean bathrooms. We were across from bathhouse on # 11 & did use them a few times. There is a lake, boat launch & beach. Rate is $24. per night but with the NP Senior pass we pd $12. per nt. Stayed here for a week July 23rd - 30th. - 2GermanAmericans

Clean park. LOTS of shade. Stayed at site 29 in a small motorohome. Site was *not level* has to use all of my blocks to get close enough to level to run the fridge. Nice big site though and plenty of room between rig and fire ring. Some of the sites in this park are back in, up a hill with difficult angles. Pretty though. Clean modern bathhouse with good water pressure and temp. Firewood is not prebundled , you have to measure it yourself in a $5, $10, $15 stacker and then pay and load into your rig. With some of the sites being so difficult to get into and requiring work to get level, it would be nice if they mentioned firewood at checkin so you can get some on the way in. Oh well, now we know. Clean and dry though, burned good. Just 2 trails that we know of, small swim beach that wasn't open yet, Frisbee golf, boat ramp. Good Verizon signal. Dump site is in the gravel lot near the gatehouse with firewood and dumpsters- no sign. dump hole is about 9 inches across, make sure you don't lose your hose or a small child/pet! We would stay here again if in the area. - Little Slow Domicile

Rest rooms were beyond dirty and trashy. BYO paper! They allow little league teams to use the ball fields and they leave a major mess of things. Wife went to use showers and all the toilets were full of feces. The fee is cheap but No shade. Water/ electric / sewer was good. Will not return. Loose dogs everywhere. - Charlie Giles

This campground is along the Yadkin River. It was the old high school, but has been taken over by the local V.F.W. It is a year round campground and has suitable facilities for persons passing through or wish to stop for a longer period. It is primarily used for the annual "Merlefest" at Wilkes Community College. We stayed there for 3 days and greatly enjoyed the concert and all the musicians performing at the campground. The VFW hosts were very accommodating and eager to please, this is their main fundraiser for the year and they work really hard. They have primitive sites, partial and full hook-up sites, pet friendly and they even have breakfast service in the main hall to eat there or to go. The facilities are dated, but kept clean and well managed. They're are other local festivals in the area in addition to Merlefest and I would definitely consider staying there again. We have already reserved our sites for next year! This campground is not the KOA, but the gentlemen that run it are the best and make your stay very warm and welcome! - Mtncampers

Please ASK before you go how the stink bug season is. We cut our trip short due to an OVERABUNDANCE of stink bugs. They were outside the camper, they got inside the camper and we have had to bomb/fog our camper. The pictures of the men/women restrooms on the website when booking are VAULT toilets, not a mens/womens restroom - just a room with 1 door and lots of bugs in there. If you want a bathhouse, be sure to book a site near one as they are far apart. The sites are spacious with the usual amenities (campfire ring, TWO lantern poles, large moveable picnic table, water/elect, etc.). The stink bugs have turned me completely off from ever visiting this campground again. Note, if you want to leisurely ride your bike at this campground, there is very little flat areas since the campsites are scattered throughout hilly areas. I wish my review were more positive as I had high expectations of this particular campground. Just be forewarned of the stink bugs! - JoeLiz
Aug 2016 - $26.00
I just bought a camper and have camped here twice. It is maintained by the COE and thus kept up and maintained very well. I have a 26' hybrid travel trailer and both sites were gravel and level. Obviously some sites are more spacious than others but no complaints here. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. Most are partially shaded and being in the heat of summer its a must. The campground is family oriented and peaceful and bath house is clean. There are biking trails and a roped off swimming area which was nice for the kids. Management very nice and both times we have traded sites with no issues since we reserved ahead of time. Policed by the sheriffs dept and park rangers. Will be back. - Shamrock44
Aug 2016 - $22.00
We stayed for a weekend in August because we wanted to check out the mountain bike trails. Our site was very spacious and flat and the price was definitely reasonable. The only slightly negative for us is that with our camper being so tiny we usually take advantage of the campground restrooms and showers and at Warrior Creek they are very far from the campsites. Wasn't a huge issue but just thought I would mention it. - Lilmissclementine

Stayed here during MerlFest 2019. The campsites were overcrowded. Campers stayed up blasting the radio and drinking till 2:30 am long after the hour shut off. After complaint the owner said the rules (11 or 12pm quite time and no alcohol) were waived during MerlFest. They should have stated this prior to site reservation. - MitchG
Apr 2018 - $50.00
Stayed here for Merlfest 2018 and it was very convenient to get to the festival. Only a 5 mi drive and they had a shuttle that ran every 30 min. The campground has been here a while and it is worse for the wear. The bath house is pretty clean but well worn and not heated. Sites are very crowded and it took me about 15 min to "wiggle" my 30 ft trailer into the site. Good AT&T phone service and Good dish satellite reception. - Crottys
Aug 2014 - $30.00
The campground is unique in the fact that really no one stays there nightly. There are a few RVs that stay there full time. There was a pool but it is no longer used, and the Internet does not work unless you go to the office and sit there to use it. We only got one station on TV, which was PBS. But I must say, the people who own and run this facility are amazing! They were so kind and sweet that we would definitely stay there again. It's quiet and it has a beautiful waterfall that you can walk to, and a little stream and a fishing pond. We slept well there since it is so quiet, and enjoyed the solitude. Would highly recommend it if this is what you are looking for. - L&Laustin

Pretty nice. Not very shady around our spot, but it was cloudy. AT&T barely works. The Fishing pond is nice. There is also shuffleboard and a game room. - SomeRandomCamper
Aug 2019 - $46.00
We stayed 3 nights in site #147, a long pull through gravel site which is mostly level but drops off toward the front a bit so I had to use extra pads on the front jacks. There was a picnic table and a fire pit on the site. This is a large CG with a LOT of permanent residence living there as well as repeat extended stay guest. It was very clean and peaceful. It is in a very rural area within walking distance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a large fishing pond within the CG and a lot of grassy areas but no off leash dog walk areas. There are no trash receptacles in the CG, just dumpsters near the entrance. There is no trash pick up so you have to take your trash to the dumpsters. If you have pets, there are no pet waste receptacles either. Not very pet friendly. The bath house was clean and adequate with showers (did not use). There isn't much to do within the campground but walk around. No pool but they do have a shuffle board court. We are not inclined to return mostly because it is in such a remote area and they are not accommodating toward dog owners. - RoadEyePie
Jul 2019 - $40.00
Transient campers beware - this is a seasonal campground. Two adults camped here for 5 nights in July 2019 in a travel trailer. My comments refer to the area around sites 37, 64 etc. Plus: In my area of transient camper sites, we had tall shady trees and spacious sites; other areas are in full sun. Some seasonal campgrounds are overloaded with children riding bicycles and lots of noise, but this was not the case here. The lake was lovely and while swimming was not allowed, it provided a nice catch and release opportunity. There were large mowed fields where children and golf carts could romp away. Minus: Though there were several nice points, two negative aspects overshadowed our experience and lowered the rating significantly. Both should be improved by management/owners. 1. Bathhouse in desperate need of a serious update. Though it was clean enough, shower dressing area was open, no privacy at all. Lighting was adequate/poor. Some chrome shower fixtures were rusted. I doubt that the owners would take a shower there. Men's toilet stalls did not have latches on doors. Really? 2. Wifi was non-existent on weekends unless you tried before 6am and after midnight; somewhat improved on weekdays. This was most frustrating, and I cannot imagine how the seasonals deal with that. Additionally, the office staff wasn't particularly friendly, giving the vibe that they didn't care if we were there or not. I don't think we would camp here again until we read reviews that these minuses are fixed. - LiveTheDream
