Site C27 was fairly level, sandy, a bit trashy from previous occupants. Nice pine needles and cones scattered everywhere beneath towering pines. Well-shaded site with lake view through the trees. Roads were gravel but good for walking. Other campers were friendly, host was exceptionally pleasant and helpful - as were other staff personnel. Water pressure good; electric service excellent. No cable. No on-site sewer. Dump station easily accessible on exit road. The lake was beautiful - only to be marred by loud speedboats in late afternoon. - D-S
Aug 2019 - $1.00
Private membership campground that should really be called a mobile home park. This park is about 85% permanent sites. Map shows full service spots but they do not have sewerage. So many golf carts it is like the interstate. No bath houses on one side of campground. Staff is very friendly. - Lcarpen52
May 2018 - $1.00
A wooded large campground along the shore of Lake Gaston, beautiful setting, good facilities but need work the on sites. We were in a narrow very unlevel pull thru the site was short and had the front of my motorhome off the ground 6 inches, the door was so high in the air that a step stool still made it hard to reach the steps. Not a spot to overnight but a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a nice lake. - Bruce and Janette

Nov 2019 - $45.00
Overall, nice place. The entire park is nicely maintained. Just did a one night stopover in November so can't say much about the foliage but there didn't seem to be a lot of trees/shrubs. Very big rig (ours is a 42' fiver with 8' bed dually) compatible. Level gravel sites. Picnic tables - some with umbrellas. A few gazebos scattered around the park. Friendly front desk. Good location. - BigGuy82
Oct 2019 - $45.00
This is a great park to stay at. About a third of the sites have concrete pads to park on and the gravel sites are very flat. The whole park is very flat. The grass is thick and lush. Most sites are pull through, nice and long. The dog park is big enough to play fetch. The water pressure seems to be low. It is just far enough from I-95 so one doesn't hear the highway noise. The park store sells chilled cans of Coke and 3 bags of chips. Sites D12, D13, D14 have big bushy shrubs that are fragrant and attract many, many bumble bees and honeybees. Sites D10 and D4 are close to the dog park and don't seem to have any bees flying around. We will stay here again if we need a stop in this area. - Jay G
Sep 2019 - $45.00
I95 easy on ad off. Big rig friendly. Excellent water pressure, 50 amp power rock steady at 124 volt with all our air conditioners going and many others with all their air conditioners going. Sewer, TV cable and excellent WIFI. They pick up your trash in the morning. Had a very good ATT signal. Very nice pool, with slide. Very clean showers and bathrooms. Spent two nights on the way to Myrtle Beach. - The Man with No Name

May 2010 - $18.00
This "campground" is a dirt (spots of grass) parking lot behind a motel. It appears to be very old and poorly maintained. Hookups very rusty, but usable. We did not see any sewer hookup. There was a dump...not in good shape. Restroom was available with a key...very old and basic, but seemed clean. The lot looks like it would be a mess in wet weather, but it was dry when we were there, and it is very convenient for a pull through night, just off the highway. We will not likely use it again. - joyces
Dec 2009 - $29.00
Sites were level. We were able to use our satellite. Site long enough for 40ft+towing. Sewer connections nicely placed (not in back and not raised). Wi-fi strong and fast and free. Local pizza delivery available (not RV park pizza). Interior roads very wide. Roads paved with no ruts; more than enough for big rigs. Staff was friendly. Very nice and clean. There were no permanent residents. Propane was available. We will stay here every time we are near. - petersoldan
Oct 2007 - $18.00
This campground is a reasonably priced, easy off, easy on, Interstate stop over. I would not recommend this as a destination RV Park. Cable TV is an extra $4/night, but the TV service is was excellent as was the free WiFi. The voltage was low (105-V) in the morning when all the overnighters were using power. I had to turn my refrigerator and water heater on gas. Security in an unknown quantity as this campground is not in the best of neighborhoods. However, there are lots of bright lights. I would stay here again. - dlr

Apr 2019 - $22.00
Enjoyed our 2 night stay over the weekend, with that said the restroom facilities get quite a bit of use and it shows. Quiet area and dollar general is the closest thing around. Good OTA tv, Verizon was sketchy one or two bars of 3G or 4G if you were lucky. Need a long water hose for some sites in order to fill your tank. 12 of the sites are electric, the others have no hookups at the site. Beautiful campground and we had several pink lady slipper flowers within 20' of our site. Some of the sites aren't as accommodating as advertised with steep angles of entry and exit (dump site included). We would stop in again if in the area. - jtl2
Apr 2019 - $25.00
We stayed one night in a 40 foot fifth wheel. I have a bit of a mixed and frustrating view. We drove 20 miles from I95 to this park just to stay in a state park in a more natural setting. This was after securing a reservation by phone for an electric only site that was a pull thru. The park is in a beautiful setting, plenty of trails to enjoy if we had the time. Restroom were clean and sites were level. Though the electric had 50 amp outlets, the circuit breakers looked like 30 amp Didn't really matter as we could not get into the site. So this was our frustration. There is no way to pull a 40 foot fifth wheel into this site as there is a tree on the approach curve that you cannot get around. Trying to back in was equally frustrating as there were obstacles on 4x4 posts including site markers and garbage cans as well as water spigots. I am an experienced driver...I made several attempts to get into site 32 but simply could not. Accordingly, we backed into site 33 and spent the night with no hookups. Nice site other than no hookups. I think this is a great campground for smaller campers. - Moe and Flo are on the go
May 2018 - $22.00
We stayed for six nights, over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. This is a very small park, with only 34 sites, of which only 12 have electric. Easy access to the park, and paved roads within. Sites are all gravel/dirt and seemed to be fairly level, and easy access to back in.
We were disappointed to discover there is not much to do in the area, and many whom we asked, did not have much to offer about the area. We drove to Roanoke Rapids hoping to ride our bicycles on the Roanoke Canal Trail. We had difficulty even finding the trail or anyone that knew about it or where it was at. Worst ever bicycle trail I have ever been on. We also drove up to Lake Gaston area. Huge lake, but again not much going on in that area. Little Fishing Creek that flows thru the park for canoeists was closed or not encouraged to use because of a tree that was down.
Overall, the park is nice but very small with not much to do. It was an OK stay, and I would return again if only passing through. - RiversedgePA

A little tight pulling in with fences on both sides of the motorhome. Check in was very comfortable, nice concrete level pads. We only stayed over night but would stay again. - TheBounders
Nov 2015 - $1.00
Price reflects ROD membership. Campground was easy to find. (We followed directions on C2C website.) They have a "fun center" on site with bowling, exercise room and other activities. It is odd that the hot tub is in a different building than the indoor pool. There is a restaurant at the campground, but it is only open on a very limited basis. When checking into the campground, they direct campers through a very narrow drive with a fence on both sides. It was very challenging to maneuver through this area. While we were there, another camper ran into the fence causing damage to their camper and the fence. The fenced area is a very poor design; they need to find a different solution to put campers while waiting for registration. Because of the trees and the very narrow roads through the campground, the sites are hard to get into. Sites are close together, but there are enough trees that it makes it have a little separation. Campsites have a concrete pad to park the RV. The concrete pad helps the sites to be level. Each site had a wooden patio with a picnic table. There is also a charcoal grill at each site. Well maintained roads through the campground. Laundry Room is so small that the doors of the dryers don't fully open-they are stopped by the washers.
We had to use our booster to get Verizon coverage. Not a prayer of getting DirecTV satellite in these trees. - GLPColorado
Jul 2015 - $10.00
Stayed overnight on a Coast to Coast reservation. Check in was quick and escort to site was provided. Back-in site was level, but dirt/clay which stuck to everybody's feet, including the dog. Interior roads could use some work, but sufficient for overnighting. We will probably stop here again. - Alworth

Ready on and off 95. Friendly check in. Small camp store. Nothing at exit. Quiet park. Perfect for travelling through. Clean. Well maintained. Unlevel, had to use 2 pads to level side to side. Noticed others around us didn't have to do anything to get level. Long. End site. Good for big rigs. Close to bathhouse and pool. - Jan Orlando
May 2019 - $45.00
Although there are full hookups available, when I made the reservation there weren't any long enough for our motorhome and towed car. We opted for a water-electric site because this campground is a good stopover when traveling north and south on 95. We stayed in April heading north and again in May heading south. The campground is easy on-off the highway. The water-electric are in the front of the campground and we were able to get a long and level site. - lce3
Nov 2018 - $46.00
We stayed here twice, once heading South on I-95 and again returning North. It is a good campground for getting off the road. Access is close to the highway, but, as other reviewers have mentioned, you don't hear road noise. When we stayed heading South we were in site 13 which was $50 before the KOA discount and heading North we were in site 34 which was $52. So, if you don't need 50 amp service, you might ask. Our sites were level and the utilities were OK. Site 34 had the sewer hook up at the rear of the site, so we didn't use it though we had planned to. Site 34 needs an extra long hose. When we stayed here a few years ago the campground was up for sale. Now it is listed as "under new management". When I checked in I was greeted by someone eating fried chicken. Two other employees were there and not eating, but greasy fingers was the one who checked me in. These things make a difference. One of the other employees did give me helpful anecdotal weather news collected from other folks getting off the road (snow to the north, rain to the south) which I appreciated. There is NO gas or food nearby so plan ahead. - ShoreXplorers

Big rig friendly with level sites. Easy on and off to highway. WiFi was okay and no problem with our satellite. No dog park but grass to walk dog. Good overnight stop. - Fulltimersrv
May 2019 - $44.00
This was just an overnight stop for us. Like others have said, the sites were fine and reasonably level but close together. The train could be heard at the campground but I don't remember it waking me. It served it's purpose but we were not there long enough to evaluate well. I'd stop there again for an overnighter. - Bandguy
Apr 2019 - $44.00
This is a nice campground: surrounded by trees, nice level sites. But it's very close to train tracks. Every couple of hours, day and night, a train comes through blowing its horn. We got NO sleep. - mrpeepers

Jul 2015 - $42.00
Good and bad here. 6 out of 10 based on the overall experience. We stayed 4th of July weekend. The check-in was at the guard shack which is 1/4 mile or so from the campsites. A worker guided us with a golf cart to our spot. I was a bit surprised and concerned though when he turned onto a gravel and muddy road that eventually lead to a tight road through the trees to our spot. Our spot was 5 degrees off of level left to right according to the auto-leveler. I shuffled back and forth for probably 15 minutes and blocked up as much as I could, but could only get it to 2 degrees which is too much to use the leveling jacks without risk of binding. So, I just landed the jacks without leveling and we just sucked it up and dealt with an unlevel coach for the weekend. Most spots look this way and I saw many campers on a slant. There is zero Verizon cell signal. Zero. Not even enough to make a call. There is no Wi-Fi, even at the office. It has been turned off for whatever reason. Now I understand we are "camping" but these days being connected has become a way of life and not being able to even make a phone call or text is a safety concern, at least for me. There are a lot of permanent residents - some friendly, some not. Okay, all that said, there are many things to like. The view of Lake Gaston is awesome. You can fish right from the bank or swim if you want. The pool is large and up to date. They had a DJ every night in the pavilion building. We rented a pontoon boat from the nearby Holly Grove Marina for $150 for the day which was an awesome experience and allowed us to spend a day on the lake. Most campers seem to be there to disconnect in a state park/wilderness type environment and for that this place is perfect. If you like to remain connected to the outside world while camping, or if you are picky about having a level spot, this might not be the best place for you. Worth a try but beware of those two things. - aj3u
Sep 2014 - $35.00
Very tight maneuvering for a 40' MH and toad. Our site only had 30 amp electric and water. No big deal since we were just overnight. Nice area with amenities. Would probably stay again. - kanem
Feb 2014 - $25.00
Great Campground. We stayed here overnight on our way north. The rate reflects a winter special. The campground staff is wonderful, very helpful. Our site was a pull through, with a concrete pad and a beautiful view of the lake. In the spring and summer this place has many things to do - swimming pool, fishing, boating, mini - golf. Wi-Fi is excellent. Camp store is well stocked and has a good selection of items. Complimentary coffee in camp store in the mornings. We will definitely be staying here again; hopefully, for a long stay to enjoy all the facilities. - RVWeGo!
