This is a small, rustic park. Nothing fancy. It is deep in the woods with a clean clear river on the boundary. I would recommend to anyone that wants a private woodsy feel but only if you have a unit that is under 30 ft, preferably even smaller than that. Very tight turns and sites bordered by large trees. The entrance to the park is over the river on a narrow trestle one lane wooden bridge. It can be quite intimidating. It is a Passport Amer park but only good Mon to Fri. PA rate is 14.50 for fhu pull thru. - 70 Nole

Great Location in Transylvania county NC,close to Blue Ridge PKW and numerous fantastic waterfalls. The campground is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains with the French River running through it. Horses and chickens are at the park. The owners are great helpful big heart people and we felt like at home. - summerdude

This is a convenient location, and it was not unsafe, but the campground area is a mess. When you first pull in you see a pond with a gazebo, a pool that was not opened yet, and the building that houses the office. So far so good. Then you drive down to the entrance of the campground, and you wish you were staying somewhere else. The road is bumpy, and not good. The sites are the same, with little shoots of grass between the gravel. It was hard for my husband to level, and do all the hook ups. The cabins looked cute, but I wasn't inside any; however, they are in the midst of the campers. Enough said..... One more thing, ducks wandering all around, I didn't mind them, but you might. - Jessicadez

Stayed in a family cabin, had all the necessities! Very clean, trundle bed was a little old, but my sister and I both slept comfortably! Second night her adult son joined us, and he slept well in the loft. Heater for the chilly nights was needed! Very nice staff, very enjoyable stay! We were in town for the Music Song Festival, so did not use the room much during the day, but was a GREAT base for the festival! - Gapch1024

Seven nights at $200 was just too good to be true. No one to check you in - one sheet of information waiting in a box at Village Office door. Owner or Operator had white truck you'd see now and then but no contact was made with me. Office was never opened when I stopped by. Village housed permanent residents in run-down trailers. RV sites were small and cramped. Pond had fish but board walk over it was rickety and needed repair. Pool was old and needed surface debris and bug removal. We did it ourselves because it just wasn't being done by anyone else. No ambience at all and not what I considered a nice place to relax outdoors and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. I can only reference the RV area because I did not see the tent sites or go inside a cabin. I kept my shades drawn because there was nothing I wanted to look at. I love Brevard but never again at Adventure Village. - fritzwich

Decided to get away from the heat in Tennessee and not go on to the campground we had booked. Called them up while on the road headed in that direction. Well, cell reception made it a challenge getting through, but the owners were patient and had us a spot on the creek when we arrived. Almost 20 degrees cooler here than our original destination. Everyone here came by, introduced themselves, invited us to the various activities they have. We decided to stay an extra 2 days and the owners found us a site to move to so we could continue to enjoy the awesome weather. The campground is well maintained, quiet and beautiful. Cashiers and Brevard are a short drive away. Make sure you check your route because a lot of the roads here are VERY narrow and VERY curvy. This is probably not the place you want to bring small children as there is not much here in the way of entertainment for them. We will definitely be coming back. - Schnoodle_Mom
Jun 2017 - $30.00
Far from a "resort". No pool, no hot tub, no fitness room, no activities. Unless of course, you count the daily "Happy hour" as an amenity. The roads and sites are all gravel and dirt. The trees and shrubs are all overgrown. I had given the manager all of the info about our rig, because we are a bit oversized. However, the manager had no idea how big we are because, he claimed, I hadn't told him. He put us in a very tight space for the size of our rig, and it was so overgrown that we had to back the trailer right up against the cement pad to be able to open our slides. The road in and out is one very narrow lane with a VERY sharp curve that leads down a VERY STEEP hill. And finally, it rained every day...most of the day. All roads leading to and from all towns are VERY curvy. So much so that I got nauseous whenever we had to "go to town." - 1-CampeR
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Mountainous curvy roads to get to the RV park and a little tricky wide single lane gravel road downhill into RV park, but manageable and staff was helpful getting us in and out of the driveway. Don't miss the entrance! Sites are a little close together, with trees. Love the gazebo with fireplace as a gathering spot for guests, as well as the covered area with picnic tables. Nice dog walk area. Grounds well maintained. Staff very friendly. We would stay here again. - Donna_Mike G

This resort enjoys some of the best views of the blue ridge mountains around these parts. The place is really well-kept and very clean. There are lots of nice amenities too. Just keep in mind that the pool, hot tub and waterfall are not working during the month of April. It was explained to me that a late April freeze is always possible so they keep those things under wraps until May. I happened to enjoy the par 3 course. Although it is not up to the standards of a pay-to-play golf course, it was still fun. - Palomino Highwall
Aug 2018 - $90.00
The park itself was more of a subdivision. All the lots and the roads were well thought out. The office was nice, staff friendly. My site was large enough to accommodate my rig and tow vehicle albeit a little tight lengthwise. I had a nice view of the pond. The pad was level and all the services worked as they should. The wifi was okay. I was clocking enough speed to surf the net but not anything else. To be fair though, the local provider was there installing faster service. Overall, very nice place to stay for awhile. - -Stony-
Aug 2018 - $115.00
The Mountain Views on the Ridge lots are fantastic! The resort is now managed by a professional management company. All sites are full hook up and almost all have high speed internet (all will have high speed internet within two weeks). One ridge lot recently sold for 1.6 million. This has been listed as one of the 15 best RV resorts in the US. Very nice power pedestals, water pressure here is excellent. - WKR

Beautiful park for tent campers. Very clean. Roads a little steep and other sites pretty small; we had no trouble with our 24' travel trailer on the site we were given, but I didn't see another site we would fit on. Quite off the beaten path. Owners were extremely nice and very helpful. - bdodson
Jul 2013 - $32.00
Very nice park in a beautiful area just outside of Brevard. Owners are very friendly and provide a wealth of information about local attractions and happenings. Park was quiet and well maintained. Wi-Fi is available but spotty during bad weather. Cell phone service is nonexistent. Only negatives where the narrow streets, small sites and they don't take credit cards. If you have a small RV, its a pretty nice place to stay. - John G
Jun 2013 - $30.00
This was our third trip to Brevard and our second stay at Ash Grove. Once again it did not disappoint! The owners are gracious and beyond helpful. The sites are beautiful. The location is convenient to town but far enough out that you feel nature everywhere. Every time we go camping my youngest son begs to be taken back to Ash Grove. It really epitomizes what camping is all about. - TNGina

The Campgrounds very run down, and looks nothing like web page what so ever. The restrooms are nothing more then upgraded outhouses and NOT clean at all. The shower house is an outdoor wooden shack with a screen door covered with several layers of plastic so you can not see inside. We attempted to talk to owners and they were NOT concerned at all. - John4nc

Sep 2017 - $35.00
The staff was friendly as advertised. The narrow gravel road up to the office was dangerous and a car actually had to back up the road because we were halfway up when we met. The rope blocking passage to the campsites was useless as it was not locked and was only a nuisance to the guests. The site for a mid-sized (29') motorhome was too small. Once the motorhome was in place, there was no place for the car. We squeezed the car in and we were unable to open the storage bins and outdoor kitchen doors. Our "full hook-up site" did not have sewer. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent and the phone reception was spotty. Our GPS didn't even work on the way out so it was exciting to travel blind until we reached civilization. My big complaint was we stayed there with Hurricane "Irma" approaching. Even though the bands that reached North Carolina were "only" tropical storm strength, we decided to not chance the gusts with a 12'6" high moving target. When I mentioned it to one of the owners that we were leaving, he almost mocked me telling me it was going to Kentucky. We left, and sure enough gusts were up to 60 mph in the mountains of NC. We won't be back and won't be suggesting this place to our RV friends. - Charlie P54
Aug 2017 - $37.00
This was our first stay at Black Forest. The campground was clean and the staff was very friendly. The sites were a little tight, but once we got backed in/parked (which was very easy & pretty level) and set up, the closeness wasn't too bad (thankfully, we had really nice neighbors). Our site had full hookups (including sewer) and power boxes located on both sides, so very convenient no matter what type of travel trailer or RV you are using.
They do have a large clean pool and offer a pancake & sausage breakfast for $7. There were a few cons, too, though. The campground is a good distance away from the city of Brevard and Pisgah National Forest, so it isn't convenient for those who really plan on spending the majority of their time bouncing around the city. The road up to the campground (from the main road) is a very narrow dirt road and can be a little tricky if you meet another car on your way in or out.
The WiFi should not even be advertised as an extra feature as it's non-existent unless you are up very, very early before anyone else logs on and barely available even then (with no cell service available, it would have been nice to have just in case). Lastly, there's a rope "gate" that you have to take down and put back up every time you come or go in your vehicle from the campground. It's really a useless thing other than being inconvenient as anyone can walk around it at any time and there's no lock on it to keep anyone out.
Overall a very nice place to stay and we'll definitely consider making a return trip. - FlowerChild7275
Sep 2016 - $44.00
Most sites are heavily wooded and the campground is very hilly. We upgraded to a premium site upon arrival so we could get one where our dish would work (it did). Ota was good with and the WIFI was decent. No AT&T but Verizon worked. The roads are gravel so they get bumpy and are pretty dusty. The bath house was clean and spacious but quite a hike uphill from our site. The pool was large and clean. Pretty convenient to Brevard. - Crottys

Very large heavily shaded sites with electric only. Convenient to downtown Brevard and the Mountain Song Festival. Short drive to Looking Glass falls and to the Pisgah Inn on the Blueridge Parkway. No Ota satellite or At&t cell service. Bath house ok but not gereat. - Crottys
Aug 2019 - $22.00
This campground is just inside the Pisgah National forest north of Brevard, NC. The sites are semi private and well shaded. Most sites have plenty of space for larger RV's and multiple tents. There is no water hook up at any of the sites. Water stations are available on every loop. You can fill your RV tank at the on site dump station. Electric sites had newer junction boxes with 50A, 30A and 110V service. Most of the sites are reserveable 6 months in advance. There are many first come first served sites as well. We stayed on the Sycamore loop, site 8 which is a few steps to the Davidson river and a walking trail that borders the campground. During our stay there was a torrential downpour! Sites 1, 2, 3 and 4 were underwater while the drain to the river was underwater. The area drained as the river level fell. Our site drained well during the storm. There is no consistent cell signal, although my trucks built in wi-fi did provide us service when we needed it. We enjoyed a visit from a rabbit who had no problem with our presence as it munched grass. Our stay was very relaxing and our camp hosts were top notch! I highly recommend this campground. - Charlie E
May 2019 - $22.00
We have always heard great things about Davidson River Campground and they were all true. This is a beautiful campground set in the Pisgah Forest with the river running beside it. Close to our site there is a trail that runs along the river that takes to you to a beach for swimming. This is an old swimming hole with the rocks etc. The trail also takes you to a one lane bridge that is closed most of the time but it is a great viewing spot to see the river. There is a small, quaint Old English Rock Chapel which is open for services and campers are welcome at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. Most of the sites are a good size and the sites are located in 8 loops. We stayed in the Hemlock Loop site 119 with a new bathhouse. Every loop has some electric sites and a bathhouse with showers. Most of the sites that back up to the river are non-electric so we took an inside loop site but it doesn't matter you can get to the river trail quickly and everyone hears the river running when you sleep at night. Only certain sites are reservable so there is still alot of first come at this campground. Other trails lead to waterfalls, fishing spots and if you continue up 276 other attractions include Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the National Heritage Site -The Cradle of Forestry with it's exhibits, trails and programs. There is a warning that trucks should not drive 276 because of it's sharp turns and 9% grades. You are allowed to stay in the park 14 days within a 30 day period. What is different at this campground is the 14 days also includes Lake Powhatan, North Mills River and Sunburst. It is a cumulative stay limit that includes all the Forest Service campgrounds within 10 miles. - gsnakehill

About the campground, I can't say enough good things about it. There is a camping store. It's pretty much open from 9 till 9 every night. Camp store doesn't really have any food in it. just a little snacks and a lot of souvenir stuff, shirts, stuff like that. it is where you get your stamp but it is a nice store if you need some stuff for camping. The bath house close to where we were had recently been renovated meaning all new tile new paint new windows and HVAC which is very nice when you go to the bathroom. My only gripe is once again there was no way to dry my hands after I wash them. there was soap but no paper towels or hand dryer. I still don't understand why that's such a big issue. The roads around there were not too bad. mostly paved a lot of work being done in the area so can't say anything bad about the roads. they all come on the picnic tables and fire Rings. So they are in the process of doing some work to all of the sites at least that's what we saw. They putting down 6 by 6 Timbers and leveling out the sites with gravel and adding little pads for fire pit area picnic table area. some of those look really nice but they looked like they just started doing it in the last couple of months. Once that's complete then the site should be very very nice. You do have to remember you are camping in the mountains there's no concrete pads there's none of that so just be prepared for that.
When you first get the Table Rock, you're going to have to pay attention to where to go the first time. we went to the headquarters area which is not where you check in. Then we pass the first gate road that we should have turned into. We had to go to the second gate which you know it's a little confusing because we only knew the Campsite number and the loop and they call everything Westgate and Eastgate. - Stephen Howard
Aug 2018 - $35.00
nice campground with paved roads. White Oak section sites are further apart. What's nice about this park is the hiking trails with waterfalls and a lake. - RedwineRVing
Aug 2018 - $90.00
We stayed here for 3 nights. This was the last rv section at the end of a very winding road. Only lot avaiable I was told. There were several lots vacant in other parts that people came on the 3rd night. The bathrooms and showers were nasty. Wet towels on the floor until the day we left. Mud was everywhere inside the B/R. Lots had just power and water, but there was the smell of someone dumping his tanks. I spoke to a Jr Ranger (twice) bout the dirty bath, showers and the smell. The only person that had a hose out was the site host. The Jr. Ranger looked the other way. I found out that he never passed the word to the park admin. The main check in is a long way from the parking lot . There is no drive up for handicap people. There are plenty af H/C spaces but it was a long walk to the door. Move your H/C parking close to the check in building !!!!!!!!!!!!! We had no cell phone, tv reception was poor and power went out for a time . Couldn't sleep CPAP has to have power. Never again will I leave my generator at home ! And never again will I stay there. - SubVet SSBN619
