VERY TIGHT SPOTS--Hard to get into. Each site has a wooden area for picnic table; therefore, limited space. Laundry facilities are perfect. Activity staff very friendly and uplifting. Thought it would've been nice to have all "first timers" introduce themselves at the chili cookoff because there seemed to be a lot of "regulars" there. Roads are a little worn and rough to drive on. All activities are held at the rear of the campground which is very hilly to get to. - FullTimerAt66
Jul 2019 - $1.00
Very nice park with a few trails and lots of hills. Lots of amenities (mini golf, children & adult pools, coffee bar & cafe to just name a few). Some of them are outdated and are in need of fixing (which they are working on) such as the tennis courts, basketball courts, shuffleboard). A few ponds with fishing in at least one of them. Huge park - LOTS of people - expect close neighbors. Satellite is hit or miss depending on your site. Verizon signal was weak. - Wandering With Us
May 2019 - $1.00
The staff is very courteous and friendly, facilities were clean and well maintained. The adult pool is finished and looks great. The area they put us is about as far as one could get from the entrance/office. If you have a separate vehicle from your RV there would be no problem, but it is a long walk or bike ride for us with lots of uphill stretches. The only dumpster for trash is at the entrance. We set out for it and ran across one of the staff members who took it for us in his golf cart. Sites in this area are all gravel as are the roads. Space between sites is OK and about normal for a commercial camp ground. Our site is not exactly level, but we were able to get close enough with our jacks without resorting to blocks under wheels. We actually got cell service for our Track phones and Verizon Hot spot. We get a few TV stations over the air. Considering the remote location, we were pleasantly surprised. - John Fox

Aug 2018 - $30.00
Found park on web site with a 6.5 out of 10 star rating. Made reservation for one night, as did friends also in a Class A. Pleasantly greeted when checking in. All hook-ups were available as advertised, however, we did not use them to know how well all worked. The RV parking site appeared more like an RV storage area than an RV "park." We did not stay. Called friends and warned them off. It was, in fact, alarmingly "sketchy." Cannot recommend at all. - MustardSeed76
Jul 2016 - $30.00
This RV Park is an old amusement park. They have a driving range and a Putt Putt course on site. You can see the old batting cage and a go-cart track on site. Staff was friendly. Several long term campers. We spent only one night here. I would camp here again. - Bburgbrewer
Oct 2015 - $25.00
Only a few 50A sites, WiFi & cable are good. Roads and sites are stone and level. Miniature golf & driving range. Great stay for a golfer. - Stan1

Jul 2017 - $35.00
Been at this campground for 10yrs. We kept it up very well and considered it home away from home. I looked at the WIFI signal strength while inside the store and it was weak so I mentioned that if they were to call the company who they had it with that they would come out and adjust to get a full signal but they said no. Being disabled we did't want to have to go to the store just to get WIFI. I did complain about the water on/off on our site, it took them yrs to put a handle on it since I was having to use pliers to shut on/off the water to our RV. Because of health problems we did not get to go up there for 2yrs in a row yet I did go, with help, and pressure washed , raked leaves and kept the grass trimmed except for one time when they sent me a letter saying the grass was too high and I went right up and took care of it. We paid yearly rates, never broke any of their rules and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the campground since there's only fishing in the pond to do while up there and a small playground for children in front of the bath house. Our RV was on blocks and they let me know one side was leaning so I called a wrecker service to fix it but the driver had a head on wreck while on his trip there. I stayed all day waiting to get it fixed. I ended up selling our RV for dirt cheap and lost money because they charged the new owner half yrs lease for the lot too. Nice people, quiet and kept up well, just don't make the mistake I made by saying something about their WIFI. Sad that they kept my money for the whole season without refunding me the differnce once they signed over my lot to someone else. People can't help when a disabilty keeps you from going every week to relax and enjoy or else I would have jacked it up myself if I had seen it first. Wont fix their own stuff unless they simply just have to. RV sites are totally not level near the road was the main problem for the most part. - 10yr camper
Jul 2015 - $35.00
Park looks nothing like their website. Swimming area unfit for human use due to duck feses. Park must have septic issues because campers tollets were backing up.Park was pumping leaving campers smelling horrible odors. Owners were extremely unpleasent to deal with. Campers are stacked in on top of each other. This park should be shut down. - Rhonda Andrews
Apr 2013 - $25.00
While the new owners were very nice and friendly, and the April discounted price was low, the large number of seasonal units which were dirty and junky was a real turn off. - MsLucy

Very nice campground. You can choose your own site. A lot of different kinds of sites. A very nice creek, which is good for tubing or fishing, goes through the whole campground. Has a large beach area for swimming. The grounds are well kept. The only complaint is the owners are very rude but if you can overlook that then it's a great campground. - fireboy7
Jun 2014 - $35.00
This park is in an attractive destination for families seeking outdoor fun. Its remote location is not, however, suitable for over nighters and it is lacking in the usual facilities for RVers. No Verizon cell phone coverage. Friendly staff. Pretty spot. - Roger H.
Aug 2012 - $30.00
We have stayed here a few times during the week and had a great time. We hear weekends get crowded but not enough to avoid staying here. The water slide may be the fastest I've tried in a long time. Camping conditions were fine. Most good sites are backed up to Steele Creek, which you can also play in. A family friendly place that we will go back to more than once a season. Take some money. It does get pricey. - justhollerhandyman

Jun 2019 - $62.00
I'm sorry to say this was the least favorite North Carolina campground we have stayed at. It was close to a three hour drive in our Class C. Check-in was fine and I will say most of the staff was helpful and friendly. When we pulled into our site, we were extremely disappointed. It was a dusty, gravel parking lot, with sites very close to each other. No tress, so no shade and nowhere to put up our hammocks. I went back to check in , but was told they were completely booked for the weekend, so no other sites available. We reluctantly set up in our "lake view" site. There was a dribbling stream behind us, but no lake view. There was dog poop behind us, plenty of laundry drying out on one side and when the Class A came in on our other side and hooked up to his sewer line, the smell was overwhelming. There are no garbage cans scattered through the sites and most people did not adhere to any of the stated campground rules. It is totally geared toward kids, which is fine, but they would constantly walk and ride bikes through our site. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxed camping experience, this is surely not it. - jcgso
Aug 2018 - $30.00
This is more of a cabin/seasonal park with a few transient and tent sites. There are lots of activities (pool, mini golf, etc etc) but everything is dated and in pretty poor condition - including the sites and road to get in! Everything has potential, it just isn't living up to it. I think the key word in all of these reviews is "formerly a...." Just a big no for us. Too many other great campgrounds in the area. - Sophiegirl04
Jul 2018 - $52.00
We loved our weekend stay at Hidden Creek Camping Resort! Everything was clean (might I even mention the "curbside trash pick up?"!!), the staff and especially owners were so incredibly friendly and fun, so many family activities, the water slide is a blast for not only the children but also the adults, they have any and everything you could want if you should forget something at home and a great cafe on site. We can't wait to come back and introduce our other camping friends to this wonderful retreat! - Megan Burchett

Many campers were permanent or at least long-term residents. Most probably working jobs nearby. Quite a bit of junk around the sites (old barber chair laying on its side for example). Junky all around. The big water slide they have on the web site is pretty dirty looking. But some kids were on it. They have a new section or two near the creek but the gravel is WAY loose and the road is pretty steep. One guy couldn't tow his camper out due to loose gravel. I never saw the owners but exchanged emails with them. One BIG thing on my list was the dogs weren't on leashes. Several campers had dogs w/no leash. They were very well behaved dogs though. But still... The tiny cabins are new but need to be finished and cleaned. I will say the river is great for wading. Kind of a 4wd road to get to it (not really but it's not a great road either). But the water is inches to a couple feet deep, and quite calm but moving. Clear water and a nice scene. That was the best part really. - harryreeves

Unfortunately this business no longer accepts RV's. They concentrate on cabin rentals and hosting affairs such as weddings and business conferences. Owner said campsites were not profitable enough and he had to cut back on staffing. Very sad as this was one of our favorite places to go and relax. - amxpress
Jun 2013 - $50.00
This is our 4th trip to this campground. Each time gets better. We had a back in site, on the creek with 30A service. There are young trees along the road which can make backing a challenge, but with a little maneuvering we made it in. The site was level. Good water pressure, fresh well water. The campground has WiFi at the sites closer to the front and at the camp store. The camp store really is a snack bar with home made sandwiches including a trout sandwich. The owners are awesome people. This campground is isolated with no cell service, cable or antenna TV. There are no planned activities for the kids. There is a swimming hole next to the clubhouse. They offer canoe trips and tubing. This is not a luxury campground, but a basic, clean, friendly, quiet, and private campground. - amxpress
Mar 2013 - $50.00
We planned a last minute trip and got a very good surprise. If you want quiet and peaceful on a mountain stream, this is it. The place has new owners in the last couple years, and they are working hard to have a quality place. All the available lots are riverfront, where you could cast from your RV steps or tie your kayak to your picnic table. The lack of a pool is no problem for us. The river was crystal clear and varied from ankle deep to a large deep pool behind the main lodge area. The place is small, quiet, and family managed. We loved it. Oh, and they had a neat clean camp store/sandwich shop with friendly staff. - Donttrvlenuf

Nov 2019 - $55.00
This park, or at least the RV portion of this park, was opened around April/May of this year (2019). The majority of the roads are still gravel along with all of the camper/RV sites. There is very little grass between the sites and mulch has been used to cover the ground. The upper campsites (pull thru sites 212-219) will not be easy for large (37’+) TT or FW’s due to the narrow turn-around and steep gravel road. But, it does have the best view. It was too cold to swim but the water park is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen at a campground. Putt putt and kids jump pillow were nice as long as you don’t mind the mud. We stayed in 242 with a 43’ FW and the fit was good. I was able to park my dually at the site. I only gave this campground a 3 star mainly based on its general appearance at the time of our stay. Water pressure was ok but not great. Don’t get me wrong this is a nice campground, it just needs some time to be completed with regard to general
Landscaping, road work, etc. I would definitely go back. - TMZ1996
Oct 2019 - $45.00
I want to start with saying the staff was great. We drive a large Class A and pull a trailer. The roads coming to the resort are very narrow and the roads going into the park are not set up for a rig our size. Signage for where to turn in is lacking. We ended up facing the wrong direction and barely made the turn to go to the park. I assume they are fairly new as there was constant work going on with trucks going back and forth resulting in lots of dirt covering our rig daily. This seems to be a park set up for weekend family, small trailer camping and they have a great set up for the kids. - wings2fly

A really nice small campground that shows the owners pride in the upkeep. All the utilities are first rate and the grounds are immaculate. That said, the road into the campground is a little bit of challenge, 5 mph maximum. Site was fairly level, which is difficult in Hickory. - BWolfAR

Close to I-40 but no interstate noise. Small campground with very friendly and helpful staff. - Wbrock

Great camp ground along the river. Only negative is drive into the campground. Not terrible, but steep and some bumps. Not bad enough to keep anyone from going there. - User3454

Apr 2013 - $30.00
This park is in a large open field with a gravel road leading to a few sites. The gravel parking pads are narrow and not very level. There are no fire rings at the sites and only a few scattered wooden picnic tables. There is a covered pavilion and small playground set in the center of the field. We got our 40ft Class A leveled with some difficulty using our jack pads. Getting a satellite view was no problem as the only trees are the ones that surround the field. This is one of the few RV parks in the area where you can get Sprint phone and 3G service. Bathroom and showers are OK but not cleaned daily. There is also a coin washer/dryer. The owner is friendly, helpful and has lots of local knowledge about the area. He does have a rule of no drugs, alcohol, or firearms allowed in the park and he doesn’t take credit cards for payment. There is no road noise and the park is very quiet except when the train comes by. The tracks run along one side of the park and when the train passes the engineer blows the horn, sometimes often and long. - Road Train
