Owner & staff friendly & helpful. Felt like family before we left. Laundry, showers and restrooms were immaculate. Had a library area off the laundry area with books, puzzles & desk for while doing your wash.Beautiful setting, sites were a little tight but private enough. Packed Gravel and all sights were very level. Right off the Hwy, easy to find. Will definitely stay again. Can't say enough nice things. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Truck Camper.

Downtown Asheville was just minutes away with easy access to jump on the freeway. Mast General Store great fun with surprisingly good prices. Be prepared to pay for parking.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice wooded park on the side of a mountain. The higher up you go, the better the views. It looks like the top portion (30s and 40s) is relatively new, and everything is kept immaculately clean. The lower spots also have nice views, but you are also in the woodland area. There is a cute stream that runs behind the cabins, and the atmosphere was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful, even delivering propane to our site. Verizon was very good. There is no recycling program. There is a small dog park. The only downside is the fact that it is on the side of the mountain, and navigating through the park exposes your rig to lots of tight twists, hairpin turns, steep inclines and bends that it might not be used to. We actually busted our frame while we negotiated the hills...not a fault of Mama Gertie's but a fault of the RV manufacturer...but those Mama Gertie twisty roads will definitely stress your frame welds. The approach to the park is also tight, with the road having barely enough room for a truck in each direction. Fortunately it is a rarely-used road and a quick shot to the highway. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Asheville. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wow, beautiful place. Up, Up and up the mountain. The higher your spot number, the higher you climb. We were low, but the spot was beautiful, plenty of space at our spot, and looked like all spots had plenty of spots. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

This place was amazing. The park was clean and the staff was courteous and very attentive. The actual beauty of the campground cannot be overstated. We had a site on the top of the mountain and the views were incredible. The hookups were clean and well taken care of. The laundry/bath house was sparkling clean. We will definitely be returning to Mama Gerties when we come back to the area. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park with decent size spots. Sites are remarkably level considering the park is on the side of a mountain. Interior roads are quite steep but pretty easy to maneuver. Excellent WiFi. My only complaint would be the lack of a pool. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground is built on the side of a mountain, but the campsites are very level. It is very convenient for the Asheville area, but very quiet. We heard no road noise from Interstate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Showers and laundry room was very clean. Only negative was steep roads, but had no problems traveling around the campground. Very picturesque. Premium campsites on top of campground provided beautiful scenery. Easy travel to Asheville, Biltmore Estate and other area numerous attractions. Great area for hiking including waterfalls. Asheville has a lot of very nice art galleries with very artistic work. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

We just spent our 5th Memorial Day weekend here and made reservations for next year, beautiful campground. A bit tight to maneuver in spots but well worth it. Get a site on top with a deck if you can. Rode Harley's all weekend, great riding. Love Black Mountain, Brevard, Cashiers and The Highlands. Very clean & convenient campground to tour Biltmore and Asheville. We stayed in a site on the top of the mountain with a view of mountains. The site was a level pull through, all gravel with no shade. Those sites had full hookups with plenty of room. There are shaded sites on lower mountain levels but they looked tight for long trailer truck combinations. The place is extremely well kept with spotless bathrooms and laundry facilities. The people are friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Buy only a one day pass at Biltmore on-line to get free headsets for the self guided house tour. Then book a guided specialty tour when you are at Biltmore for a second day. Your admission to the estate the second day will then be free. Tours ranged from $11 for a winery tour to $32 for the legacy of the land tour. We really enjoyed the legacy land tour. There is so much to do at Biltmore that you will want to spend 2 days if you can.

Stayed two nights in 35 ft motorhome to visit Biltmore Estate. Drive into park is relatively narrow with the drive to our site fairly steep up and then down. We stayed in a lower site but did walk up to the upper level sites which had beautiful views. The site had two sewer hook ups. Seemed like most of the sites were full hook up. We got relatively good cellular signal and three satellites for DirecTV. The park was clean and well kept. We were in site 4 which was level and the other sites also appeared level. Would highly recommend. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

The sections of the campground are cut into the side of a mountain with three levels of elevation. The top level offers incredible views of the surrounding area and is the signature feature of this park. We came here planning to get one of those sites, but that section was closed for the winter. I believe I heard the lady at the desk say they had to be reserved a year in advance. The park is very clean and easily accessible from the interstate. It is only 10-15 minutes to the Biltmore and the rest of Asheville. We had full LTE coverage (AT&T) and the wi-fi was good. It'd be really nice to come back here and get one of the sites up on the mountain. We stayed one night in site #25, a back-in with W/E/S/C. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Well maintained and clean. Sites were level. Showers and restrooms were impeccable. Built on the side of a mountain. You will always be walking up a hill. Site spacing is pretty tight, but the hillside construction kind of mitigates the “look at the side of your neighbor’s coach’s vibe. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

This is our favorite campground. We love the top tier, deck sites at the top of a steep but doable drive. Everything is super clean & sites are policed as soon as a camper pulls out. Great hookups, cable & WIFI. We had a truck problem & they worked very hard to accommodate us while we were waiting for the repair completion. Great location near the Blue Ridge Parkway & Asheville, but you feel very much apart from the activity. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.
