In the area visiting family in Monroe. This county park is the closest and was quite a nice surprise. 30 minutes to Monroe and 15 to Waxhaw and the closest grocery shopping. The park does have a small store with ice and drinks. Ice is as cheap as in Walmart ($2.00/10 lb bag). Since it's a county park alcohol is officially prohibited. There are a total of 120 sites with about half gravel and the other concrete. Almost all sites have a slight slope front to back, but bad enough to get level. Even on the busy weekend, it is surprisingly quiet. During the week, it's even quieter. Forget getting satellite reception because of the many trees, but with the beautiful setting, who cares. All sites are back in with plenty of room to maneuver. The park is secured at night after 9:00 pm with an automatic coded gate. We would definitely stay here again. The large lake and beach will be a hit with the kids or adults, as well as 2 playgrounds for them. Boats are allowed on the lake and fishing is supposed to be quite good. Non residents pay $6.00 per day for power, water and sewer. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

We thought we would give this park a try, as we had never stayed in a county park. I was pleasantly surprised with this facility. The full hookup sites are really nice because they are paved and near the lake. Nice size lake and you can bring your boat if you like. Beautiful and peaceful place with lots of things for kids to do. The only negative I can think of is some of the hookups are placed in kinda weird places, and longer hoses are needed. We will definitely be returning! We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice county park on a small lake with a lot of recreational opportunities. The interior roads have numerous speed humps that can drag on campers. Rangers were friendly. Camp store was open during limited hours. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

We also paid a $4 online reservation fee. We chose a site with full hook-ups including 50amp. All services worked well. Despite there being trees everywhere, we were able to obtain a DirecTV satellite signal (Site 39). Our dish is mounted on our roof near the front of our coach. This is a lovely county park with a beautiful lake, beach, swimming area, playgrounds and numerous trails for hiking and biking. During mid-November, the CG was approx 15% full which made it very relaxing. We enjoyed our time here and didn't want to leave! We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

When navigating to the park, be sure you go to the campground (not to be confused with the day use area). There are signs as you get close so it's pretty well marked. In my opinion, the sites on the water are the nicest. The Waxhaw historic district (Main Street) is underwhelming but there is a great bike shop called Bike Depot of Waxhaw. They were very friendly and solved a bike issue we were having.

This is a really nice, spacious campground. We had site 39 with full hook-ups. Both of our cars fit in the site with plenty of room. My only discouragement was that the swim area was only open on the weekends *if* lifeguards area available -no exceptions. My children were disappointed. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

Huge speed bumps on the road. Be careful and go real slow. I scraped the trailer jack on one of them.

What a strange little park. We stayed here to visit friends in Charlotte as the options there are limited. The park is hard to get to as you have to go on some narrow, residential roads several of which had low hanging tree limbs. The park itself has a very narrow loop road and it's one way in and out. You enter and have to go all the way around the loop to get to the office. The office is only open when it is time for check-in to start. I can't imagine the line and resulting traffic jam when they are busy. Of course, our site was all the way around the loop again. We blocked traffic while we backed into our site. The site itself was very long and pretty level but close to neighbors. The utilities worked fine. The main draw is the lake and beach. Lots and lots of local families use this park on the weekends. There appear to be some long term residents although there is supposed to be a two week maximum. A little too "campy" and out of the way for us. We would not stay here again. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

Cane Creek is a very well-maintained county park on a 350 acre lake. The campground has over 100 sites, some FHU and others just elec and water. There is also a horse campground, group camping, and wilderness sites. We were in a FHU, all of which have a view of the lake. Some are wooded, others not as much. The FHU sites are also paved. This is a perfect park for families, with playgrounds, miniature golf, an arcade, fishing, volleyball, etc., and paved roads for bikes and trikes. It is extremely peaceful. There is a day use area across the lake with boat rentals, pedal boats, etc. We stayed a week and enjoyed each day. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

This is an absolute must stay if you are in the Monroe/Charlotte area. The campground is immaculately maintained and truly scenic. Our spot, # 57 backed up to the lake. There is also a recreation area attached to the campground with no additional fee if you are staying. We had a bit of a bother when making our reservation since you make an online application and they should get back to you within 24 hours. Somewhere ours got lost and I had to follow up a few times to get the situation straightened out. They also want you to pick a site which is difficult to do since we did not have a campground map. I also do object to the additional "Reservation Fee" but it's not that much and it is just the idea of it.. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.

Sites both paved and graveled. Most sites nearly level with easy access. Good electric, good water connections. Sewer connections somewhat out of convenient location, but they work. A great park. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Fifth Wheel.

What a hidden jewel! We attended an owner's club rally here and were pleasantly surprised by the facilities and site locations. The grounds were well maintained and the sites backing to the lake were very nice (although not real level). I would have rated this place a 10 if the sites were a little more level and if the water hookups weren't so far apart (fortunately, we have a long hose). Best county park I've seen. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great county park with sites right on the lake. The limited number of full hook up sites are paved and right on the lake. No problem getting a big rig in there (our trailer is 40'). The park keeps the trees trimmed up high and there was plenty of room to maneuver to get into the site. Some of the sites are heavily wooded and the shade is great on hot summer days. There are a few seasonal sites here but they are well kept: in fact some are nicely landscaped! There are two beaches, one for campers and the other for day use on the other side of the lake. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We love to come to Cane Creek. The roads are paved and the lake front sites are paved (even though some are not very level). Our favorite thing about this park is that it is lake front and you can have full sewer hookups. That is quite amazing as you typically have to be in a tent to get close to lake front. There are several very nice playgrounds in the park. The beach has a life guard on the weekend. Each site has it's own fire ring so you get to enjoy a fire, the fire fly's and gaze out at the lake. It certainly doesn't get any better than that. Also, there are several very nice, well maintained trails in the park. It is definitely worth a stay in this park. We camped at Cane Creek Park in a Motorhome.
