Trails End is a good name for this park. It is in a valley in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains up a valley with lots of old barns and cow pastures. The park itself has good and bad, like a lot of parks. The good are the views, tranquility and friendly residents. There are two rows of back in sites. One row backs onto a pretty stream with nice landscaping and the other backs onto a well cared for lawn. Interior roads and RV sites are gravel. Most sites have concrete patios and picnic tables. Sites are pretty short. Any RV over 40 feet wouldn't fit. Many residents are seasonal (summer) and head south for the winter. Negatives are lack of amenities. No office and no bathrooms or showers. Probably the first park I have been to without bathrooms. There is a building that serves as a clubhouse and laundry facility, but that is it. There is a large dump trailer for garbage. When you arrive there is a bulletin board with your name and site number. The camp host will find you in a golf cart and give you an orientation and collect money. We liked the location, about half way between Asheville and Great Smoky Mountains NP. I wouldn't go there if my RV was over 40 feet or I needed restrooms or showers. Hook ups, including cable TV were fine. Fun being surrounded by old barns and cows. Would have given a higher rating if they had more amenities. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

The owners are friendly and helpful, stopping by the RV after we got set up with brochures and information on the area. The park has numerous flower gardens and everything is kept up nicely. The laundry is in a shelter type area and has tables, fridge, benches, etc for gatherings. The park is located near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains, so the view from the park is nice. The internet is free and worked very well...a pleasant surprise from other parks. It's quiet and well managed and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We stayed for 9 days. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

Small park but very nice. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. The sites are a little close and maneuvering a big rig requires patience when backing into the sites.

We did enjoy our stay and would definitely return. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground was a little different from anywhere else we have stayed, but we enjoyed our time there. We always take our showers in the campground bathrooms, and after I had made our reservations, we realized that they don't have a bathroom at all! All the sites have full hookups, so for the time being, you must use your own. I think there are plans to build a bathhouse. There's also no real "office", but we were greeted by a man on a golf cart as we drove in. They had already emailed us our site number, so they told us to pull in and they would register us when they could. Some of the sites are pretty short but we were fine. Some are gravel and some have concrete pads. It's in a valley with nice views of the surrounding mountains. We were invited to a pot-luck supper on our second night there. Don't miss the winding drive to Cataloochee Valley to see the elk herds, which has its entrance very near the campground. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park is nicely landscaped. Hosts/management are very friendly. The sites are somewhat small for a big rig (no parking in the site for a tow vehicle). If the park was full, tow parking would be a big issue. The WiFi did NOT work well for us. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

Had a wonderful time in the Waynesville area and at Trails End. The campground was very quiet as most of the campers were long term (month or more). Nicely landscaped and very clean. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Close to Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Cherokee and Great Smokey Mountains NP. Will definitely be back there again. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground is a bit on the spartan side but the views and surrounding countryside are spectacular. This is a wonderful spot for some quiet and tranquility. The owner is friendly and helpful and quite interesting to talk with. At the time of our stay there were no laundry facilities but I believe there were plans to add them. It seems a bit pricey for the amenities (or lack thereof) but we would stay here again. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.

A very relaxing, beautifully kept property. Owner is "green" and very diligent. Location is bucolic: way of the main road but still easy to find because of signage. Worth a retrip. We camped at Trails End RV Park in a Motorhome.
