Most of the park looks to be full time people living in RVs and mobile homes. There is a lot of grass and our spot was all grass as well. FHU with good electric and quality water. Only thing I did not like is that our front door faced our neighbor's front door. Verizon coverage was good; no cable, but antenna TV was OK. Nothing to do here and am glad it was a one night stand. Did find a trail way in the back that went into the woods and around the fields where I was able to walk the dogs. - Kerch Family

We were extremely grateful to get a reservation at this park as we were evacuating from Hurricane Florence. The park is a wide open field of hard-packed grass that sits behind, what appears to be, the owner's home. They don't confirm your reservation with a credit card as the park only accepts cash and checks. We were instructed to call when we were thirty minutes away so they could be watching for us from their house. As we approached the drive for the park, a lady ran out and jumped in her car to lead us to our site. They are all pull-through sites with full hook ups. She collected our $25 cash for the night and drove off. Later she had to return to ask our names as we never shared that information upon our arrival! The park was perfect for our needs, nice and roomy and we will be forever grateful for finding this spot to stop for the night in a stressful situation. - jjones5996

Quiet, lots of room, pull through parking on grass and fairly level. Hookups were in the right place for a motorhome and worked well. Open site. Many permanent or worker units in this park, but those we met were friendly. Stayed here 3 nights. The only negative are the roads - full of potholes! WiFi worked well and Verizon phone service was good. Easy access to shopping and eating. - Lke

The roads are the worst I have ever seen. They are giant ruts and extremely narrow. We had a pull thru site but consequently could not pull thru because of the conditions of the road. We were riding the golf cart and rode in the woods to stay out of the ruts in the so called road. You may manage to get in and out with a camper in the 20 ft range without doing damage but please don't attempt it with a 37 ft fifth wheel even thou they tell you there is room. This place should shut down or bring in bulldozers to do some major work. No water pressure at all. - tndncamping4fun

We stayed one night on the way to MB. We were given a site near the golf course. Open field level site, utilities were properly located and functioned as they should. Staff was super friendly and accommodating.
The interior roads are narrow and twisty, but nothing a competent driver couldn't handle with ease. That being said is rained heavily and we left two inch ruts in the sand roads on the way out, and our camper and truck were quite messy.
I would not call this a destination campground, but it worked well as an overnight. - Pitch1
Oct 2015 - $23.00
Very narrow roads and with the rain, not easy to use. Office staff friendly and gave us suggestions on what to do. Laundry small but worked well. Owner working on roads after the rain stopped and in some cases during the rain. Lots of seasonals. Was quiet and a mile from Rt 17. If you are not comfortable with narrow roads, stay away. If you can drive your RV, this place is Good. - pegdiver

We enjoyed our stay at Rocky Hock. It's a large park but while we were there it was fairly empty. It's quiet & peaceful with no traffic or train whistle noise. However we were disturbed by incessant yapping from dogs. Not the campground's fault as the noise seemed to be coming from somewhere outside the park. We had a site next to the small lake. Lovely to have geese wandering around which added to the the lovely setting. Restrooms & laundry are situated a long way from most sites so that would be a problem for some but not for us. The restrooms & showers, though clean & adequate, were dated as was the game room. The signage to the camp ground was very helpful. The site was gravel & the RV needed quite a bit of leveling. WiFi adequate but no phone signal with Cricket Wireless. We would definitely come back to Rocky Hock if in the area. - Mgsid

Very friendly staff. The owner provided us with local area road map as we were unfamiliar with area. There is a large lake with boats available for use by campers; also fishing in lake. Boat ramp access to Chowan River. One week stay. For cell phone service, Verizon or US Cellular work; the campground internet service worked great for us. - pamMJR

We stayed one night primarily to visit nearby Edenton, NC. The campground was fine once we relocated sites. Unfortunately I did not check out the electric before leveling trailer. Voltage was running 105 to 107 with only AC running. The owners immediately came out and after checking the electric we moved to another site where the voltage was fine. We appreciated the owners quick response to our problem as temperature was in the 90s. The campground is located in very scenic, quiet farmland. It has full hookups and WIFI that worked for us. The sites are both back in and pull thrus and are generally quite large. We did not see any permanent residents and in fact most units we saw were large and late model. Being on farmland the one downfall when it's 90 out is a lack of shade. We did not use the bathroom but did check out. It is old but does what it's there for but nothing special. Pay attention to the directions on the campground's website or get them from the very nice owners. The roads were fine getting to the campground and inside it. We would probably stay here again but would probably come in the spring or fall when cooler temps prevail. - WOLFTRACKS
Aug 2018 - $35.00
Easy access to campground; all sites are pull through, spacious, with grass pads. Restrooms and showers are very clean. Swimming pool has been deleted. Playground is skimpy. Almost half the sites are occupied by longer term renters. We stayed two nights on way to Outer Banks. - igor2brvn

What a hidden gem of a campground! The 24 sites are mostly grass with W/S/E conveniently located. The only reason I gave this CG a 9 is the lack of cable TV, but there are about 10 OTA channels. CG is also slightly overpriced taking into account the lack of amenities (pool, cable tv) My wife would not stop raving about the clean and spacious restrooms and showers. She also thought the laundry facilities were well maintained. There used to be a pool at the office, but it's now closed and filled with sand and concrete. The CG was mostly filled with long-term campers working locally, and all were very quiet. We will make a point to stay at this campground again if anywhere in the area. Wifi signal was strong and worked well. - Scubadude62

Great restaurant across the street. A big open field but pretty with good hookups and grounds are well kept. I think all the sites are about the same. - SparksRpod
