Nightly rate shown above is with KOA discount. Well organized and very well kept campground. Many long-termers (mostly workers) but everything was tidy and clean (certainly not always the case with long-termers). We were here only a couple of nights and the weather was already quite cold (dipping in the teens overnight); the water to the sites was cut off for the winter. The owner took very good care of us and delivered a full tank of water to us with his water truck, a service he provides all winter long (awesome). Solid 50-amp service, sites well separated from each other (although it's no state park in that sense). Fairly quiet despite proximity to a major roadway, which conversely makes access very easy. Close to all services. We would certainly come back if in the area. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

From roughly Oct 15th throughout the winter, this KOA turns off the water to campsites b/c of the risk of freezing. They remain open for any traveling customers who depend on KOA to always provide a port in the storm. This is precisely how we used it. Pull-thru site 12 was perfectly level and roomy enough for my long-bed tow truck and a 38 ft. fifth wheel. Pull-thru sites were separated by bushes and shrubs-a nice privacy touch. Utility connections were convenient and (with exception of our unused water & sewer) reliable. The restroom/showers were sparkling. Due to proximity of the capital city, we pulled 27 tack-sharp OTA TV stations and Wi-Fi was acceptable during our off-season stay. Lighting at night was adequate and road noise we found negligible. As with most KOAs, internal roads were tight but navigable and some of the many trees were in need of a trim. We did not use the numerous amenities that this (and most) KOA's offer, but we did appreciate the respite from the highway-even if it cost $42 w/discount and no water during the off season. It helped that the staff here was accommodating, helpful and very friendly. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The 8 cent fuel discount coupon was much appreciated and worked like a charm. What a great marketing idea that really provides a value to clients! Bismarck is an excellent city to spend the night-anything you might need can be found here.

Friendly and welcoming staff. We were guided to our site. Be aware of the trees. Wide turns are essential. Right off the highway which was convenient but slightly noisy. Honestly I barely noticed the noise and couldn’t hear a thing inside our rig. Fire rings available for purchase. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Large park with good spacing between sites. Gravel parking. Bushes very close on drivers side of coach and could not walk between coach and bushes when slide extended. Passengers side very large and open. Many shade trees. Very nice dog walk area. Very poor WiFi. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Motorhome.

50 amp pull-thru water and electric site only. Our site was in a row along the entrance road. These sites are mostly grass and got muddy when it rained. Some extra gravel would help. No shade which was fine for satellite reception. The rest of the sites have trees, so may not get a signal. Nicely maintained park with pool and playground. Gravel roads. Wi-fi was slow. Staff was very friendly and helpful. After checking in, I noticed on our receipt that we were eligible for an extra discount with our KOA card due to points we had earned. Since we weren't going to be staying at any other KOAs before our card expired, I asked if we could get a refund for our stay here. Manager was very nice and gave us the refund which saved us $25. Thanks!! We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 3 months at $750 per month including water, electric and sewer. No electric meters. Sites are mostly level with some separation by bushes/trees. Close to lots of shopping. We even had 6 new tires installed on our MH while here. Most sites are pull through. Longer stays are put in backup sites. Very big rig friendly as we saw a lot of 45ft MHs here. Amenities are a pool and laundry. It's not a destination spot but very nice for a few days. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice KOA, clean and well groomed. The spaces were nicely spaced. The space we were in was a back-in up against the row of trees separating two sections of the park so we had a nice green space behind us. The park is in a good location not far off the highway for those who are just staying over night, which is mostly the case. I think this is sad because there is a lot to see and explore in the area. This is a huge area for the Lewis and Clark expedition with quite a few interpretive center, heritage centers, forts, American Indian earth lodge dwellers. Certainly worth giving the area a couple extra nights at this KOA. Even though the park fills every afternoon and empties each morning, they provide things for the kids, bikes, etc., a pool. Several types of hook ups and pull thru and back in spots. There is isn't any cable and if you are under the trees the sat. dishes are pretty much useless, but there is local TV with an antenna. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Motorhome.

Better than average KOA with a staff that seem to try hard to keep the camp clean and presentable. A nice office with a small convenience store. A medium sized clean pool was refreshing when the temps got into the 90's. This is a "journey" style KOA designed for shorter stays, so had lesser frills and bells and whistles than the destination resorts, but they did well with what they had, still providing a laundry, playground, ball courts and nice fenced bark park. Just over 100 sites, but only half with FHU, rest with combo of W/E only or just water. Mix of 30/50 amp so make sure you specify your needs. No cable. We were assigned a W/E 50 amp site in what could be described as an afterthought area along the gravel entry road near the highway. Some road noise but not horrible. These are pulls thrus "face-to-face" with a 50 amp site facing an adjacent 30 amp, but they don't seem to assign the 30 amp sites (at least not during our stay) so what could have been a tight and awkward visit was OK with a bit of room to stretch in our front yard. WiFi where we were wasn't usable. No trees in this area so sat reception is fine. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much to do in Bismarck, the ND State Capitol. There are all the big stores you'd need and restaurants, though this area isn't exactly a culinary mecca. Dan's grocery store is half mile away, with liquor store next to it. KOA provides coupons for two nearby fuel stations for 8 cents/gal discount. Nice touch!

Our second visit to this location, staying for a weekend in early summer. Assigned to a full hookup, pull through site ... with easy entry and exit routes, plus satellite sky access. Very helpful and friendly staff, both in the office and our site pilot. Great experience, we will stop again when in the area. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Motorhome.

We wanted to see some sights in Bismarck and do some shopping. This is a very nice and very busy campground. I messed up in making my online reservation and got a water/electric site when I wanted full hookups. The owner went the extra mile and rearranged some other reservations to get me a full hookup site. Now that is customer service at its finest in my opinion. The sites are all pretty well shaded, which is nice, but makes them a little difficult for satellite. If we pass this way again I will definitely choose this campground. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The Good... wifi is excellent, park is clean and near I-94. Bad...sites are too short for big rigs towing and hookups are in strange places. Seem to be more for trailers, 5th wheels and short motorhomes. They call their sites pull through but only one or two with full hookups are long enough to fit without unhooking. Owner argumentative over this and says that he calls people who book only one night to inform them. Maybe so. We stayed for two nights and parked our toad at a slant. KOA website doesn't say "kind of pull thru for big rigs". Nice level roads and gravel sites, pool and kids playgrounds. Water hookups are in front of site and sewer at the back which causes some of the "pull thru" problems. Will not stay here overnite again. Would consider if longer. This is a fine park to spend a night. It's 1 mile from the interstate. This exit has many services. Centennial Road that is on the east side of the park is busy and noisy. The loops and sites are gravel. There is grass and low shrubs between sites. Tall trees are throughout the campground. A guide vehicle directed us to the site. There was good signage including one way and do not enter signs. I'm used to dump stations where the rig is on level ground. Their dump station has you pointing uphill. I didn't think about the best way to use this one until after I was done. We camped at Bismarck KOA in a Motorhome.
