We stayed seven nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. This is a beautiful park in a great location on the Lewis and Clark Trail. The park is clean, well maintained, and the staff were very helpful. Note only the north loop is full hookup. We were able to move there after three days in a back-in water/electric site. Also note that some to the back-in sites share both a water pole and an electric pole. We had electric hookup on the left shared with that neighbor and water hookup on the right shared with that neighbor. Forces you to say howdy. Seriously, make sure you have enough electric cable, water hose, and a splitter for the spigot. The full hookup sites in the north loop are the most spacious sites I have ever seen. Most have room for RV, vehicle, boat and more. Really amazing. Paved roads, easy to navigate, easy water access, utilities work great. Many folks bring boats and fish, so have a ball. We camped at Fort Stevenson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Enjoy the park. Visit the Audobon NWR, the Lewis and Clark discovery center, Fort Mandan, and the Knife River Indian Village. All are very interesting. Hike the park and put in a boat if that is your thing.

Tips for other Campers:

Get the ND state park pass, only $35.00,saves daily entrance fees. Local grocery store,Kruses, has good selection and fair prices. Fuel prices are as good as any in the state. We spent most of our time in Minot at the state fair,so didn't explore the area much.

We thought Lewis and Clark State Park in Williston, ND was great, but Ft. Stevenson State Park in Garrison, ND was even greater! The spaces were huge, with lots of trees around them. The roads were paved and easy to navigate. We had full hook-ups, a fire pit, a picnic table, the works. Plus the marina isn't very far and they sell ice cream. The entire park was in pristine condition and very quiet. The staff were courteous and ready to help with anything you needed. We camped at Fort Stevenson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice campground, large pull-thru sites in one section with full w/e/s other sites were only w/e. Good walking/biking trails. Quiet since it was after Labor Day. We camped at Fort Stevenson State Park in a Motorhome.

This is my fourth North Dakota state park, and I am really surprised that all North Dakota State parks charge the same regardless of whether the hookup is water/electric only, or water/electric/sewer. Also, if you have the North Dakota annual pass, then you only pay $20. Without the pass, it's $25. But with all that aside, this is a beautiful park to stay in. The sites are far apart, and each site has lots of acreage. My site had the full w/e/s hookup. Most of the sites appear to be pull through, but didn't explore the entire park. If you don't carry satellite, you can get excellent over the air reception of the major networks and PBS stations. Although there are trees, the trees don't shade the sites. The trees are between sites. Great for TV reception, bad for hot days. Verizon Air Card worked great on 3G service. Good reception on Verizon cell phone. Very relaxing to stay here. We camped at Fort Stevenson State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of the best state parks we have been to. We use the full hook up sites and really enjoy the large sites. We camped at Fort Stevenson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The pull thru sites are quite open. The bathrooms and showers were very clean but to keep the shower going you had to pull a rope which was inconvenient. There is no longer any beach or water because it's all dried up. The back in sites seemed more treed and private. The playground was okay. The park was very quiet when we were there, not many people. We camped at Fort Stevenson State Park in a Travel Trailer.
