Stayed here twice going and coming from a rally. The park is not shown on many databases but was nice. All pull through sites with easy access and full hook-ups. They were barely long enough for our motorhome and tow car 65'. All the sites and roads were gravel and level. It had rained recently and there were puddles but no real problem. The manager lives on site and I would recommend calling ahead because the office was unmanned most of the time we were there. She was very nice and helpful. Our rate was based on a veterans discount. I would stay here again. - Skyrancher
Apr 2019 - $25.00
Open year round, with heated and insulated water spigots housed within plywood boxes. Reasonable daily, weekly and monthly rates. Strong WiFi service (for being a campground, of course). Laundry ($1.00 per load for a full size washer!!!) and "comfort station" with like 5 individual toilet / sink / shower rooms. Pull through sites but a little short for the type of rigs that a full-timer / seasonal worker will likely have. Our 34 ft TT left just enough room for us to angle our truck behind it to park. This is one of three campgrounds managed by City of Hazen. Please note that as of May 2019, the map point here on the site is not accurate. Antelope Creek is on the north side of ND-200 about a mile east of where the pointer shows it. Since this campground is year-round, not particularly scenic, but situated close to the main east/west and north roads for the region, it heavily caters to the oil/gas/coal workers who come into the area for temp jobs. Outstanding option for anyone needing to be in the area for any long amount of time. If you're doing recreational visits of the area (for Lake Sakakawea, Knife River NPS site, Lewis and Clark Trail), then it's just a little too open, tight and road-noisy. Sakakawea Park in Stanton and the Hazen Bay Campground 15 miles north are better options for vacationers. - Jason Gray

It was good the restroom was clean and the camper hostess was great. Very friendly and available. - Cmokable

Nice CG on Lake Sakakawea but only tents are on the water. We were in the full hookup loop, Pintail Site 26. 50 amp electric and sewer were near the coach but the water was away quite a bit. We had about 100’ of hose out. Very long, level site. We were able to get satellite with a little maneuvering. Other sites looked better for satellite reception. Table and fire pit. Easy maneuvering for big rigs. AT&T no service but this is one of the few state campgrounds that has Wifi and it’s not too bad. 30 plus fee and day fee. - Team Asphalt
Jul 2019 - $35.00
The park is right on Lake Sakakawea and it's beautiful. The sites are big, but the water spigots are placed in very unusual places. It took 3 hoses for us to connect to water, which was located at our neighbor's front door. A few of the sites are set up conveniently, but many are not. It's really weird. there are lots of walking trails, a small beach, and you can rent a canoe at the marina, but they won't let you take it very far. - Rver at heart
Aug 2017 - $32.00
After driving on a road tore up with construction for 20 miles we waited approximately 8 minutes or so while people purchased items from the store which was also the check in. Our ND state employee never smiled and never offered up the annual park pass that would have waived the 7.00 a night "camping fee". We typically avoid state parks for many reasons. There is no shower symbol on the "paper work"we were given, found out all valuable info from our camping neighbor. More info and maybe a smile might motivate the weary traveler to spend more time in ND. The setting was lovely but the check in process made me want to scream. Without the pass it is not a good value. - Onebigbirdlover

During the summer season, all spots are by online reservation only and appear to fill up VERY fast once the schedule opens in March. Our early-May arrival meant that we could drop-in, provided we didn't park in a "seasonal" space. Can confirm earlier reports that sites are WAY off level. Our sewer connection was significantly higher than rest of site. Water turned off for a leak mid-stay. Park has an interesting process where seasonal campsites are set aside as being different from the 'vacationer / daily' sites on the map. Locals can place their RVs on these sites (determined by a lottery system) for the whole season at a reasonable $ rate, provided they visit at least once a week (ie, not just "storing" it there). But out-of-towner seasonals (ie oil/gas or seasonal park rangers) are specifically prohibited. Therefore, during the week the park "looks" full of RVs but there's few people physically there. Makes for a weird ghost town vibe. There is a convenience store, bathrooms, and an office... but all were still closed for the season as of mid May. There's a wifi router broadcasting its SSID but the park employee we interacted with said it rarely actually has internet service. ATT data service was very spotty at our site, so we were effectively internetless during our stay. There are two main areas for non-seasonals: up on a ridge with wonderous views of the lake -- but epic winds... or down into a more sheltered lower area with no views but more trees and nice playgrounds for the kids. If you're an out-of-towner needing to stay seasonally in the area, you're better off at City of Hazen's other two campgrounds. - Jason Gray
Aug 2016 - $21.00
Our site was on the end & quite large. We were in the new section overlooking the bay & our view was beautiful, especially the sunsets. This is all grass & not at all level, so if you go, make sure you've got plenty of things to level your camper. There are no trees, and it was very windy while we were here.
We were here mostly during the week & there was no one around, so it was very quiet. We don't have a boat or anything, so we just enjoyed the view. They could use a trash can here. We did not have any problem with our sewer hookup.
We would go back again if in the area. You can't beat the price for full hookups. I am rating our site a 5 for the view, but again it was very unlevel! - goldenruler
Jun 2016 - $21.00
Large, grass sites with plenty of room for boat, camper, and vehicle. Water and electricity were good, but most campers in our area had issues with the sewer in that our hoses wouldn't connect securely. Some sites had large ruts from tires, which caused a minor inconvenience for those campers. Access to the boat ramp was good, but parking for boat trailers was at a premium on the weekend. Verizon MiFi worked well as did our AT&T phone and Dish satellite. - Bobbi1948

The City of Beulah owns this Campground. In the past it was a mobile home court but the city has converted it for RV hookups. The lots are 50 X 100 so there is plenty of room. They just built a comfort station that has a kitchen, showers, bathrooms, laundry, and a TV area. Rent is 300/month, 90/week, 15/night. A lot of workers use it for a place to stay when they are working in town at the power plants. About 5 sites have a cable hookup but you would need to call the cable company and have them activate it under your name. Overall a nice workman campsite. - redlight

May 2019 - $15.00
Un-publicized city owned park and campground along the Knife River. Water and electric hookups, or primitive tent campsites available. Lots of trees, strong WiFi, boat ramp into river, and a very large playground and park. Dump station and fish grinder at the other end of Harmon Rd along the main highway. Fire rings and picnic table at east site, restroom with shower at the south end of the loop, near the camp host site. Camp hosts (2019 season) are very helpful and cool. Trail available to walk 1 mile to Knife River National Historic Site, a great small free National Park Service unit with the village site where Sakakawea lived before being recruited by the Lewis and Clark expedition. Also a strong option for overflow crowds who want to go to Lake Sakakawea for boating and fishing but can't (or choose not to) get into Hazen Bay or the state park. Not much highway noise as such, but the park loop road is well-used by locals getting to the playground (also a little noisy with local families) and the fishing / boating area. But for the rate, probably the best value around by far. - Jason Gray

This was our 2nd visit to Downstream Campground (COE). Our only regret was not reserving a site for a multi-day visit several weeks in advance. During our visit we concluded, from the number of visitors with North and South Dakota license plates, that the CG is a short-term vacation meca local residents. Pros: Extremely low daily CG fees, three large CG loops with sites that are spacious, long, level, and easily accommodate the biggest RVs and trailers, 100ft shade trees and wide swaths of manicured lawns between each campsite, an extensive network of walking and bike paths that connect each CG loop with the full COE park and dam, and, finally, easy access to multiple fishing and boating opportunities. Cons: electric-only sites, on-site water access restricted to several communal faucets, sometimes spotty cell phone service, limited access to satellite TV service at many sites due to tall shade trees, and lots of mosquitoes that thrive in the parks well-watered lawns. Note: Given that its at least a half-hour drive to a grocery store or gas station - before arrival - fuel-up, top off RV water tanks and bring all necessary supplies. - Kona Boy
Aug 2019 - $11.00
Very nice COE park on Missouri River. Nice grassy setting, very spacious campsites. No water at site. We needed to fill fresh water because dry camping after this, however faucet located behind campsite and hopes connection worked fine. Would definitely stay here again. - Al Z
Jun 2019 - $22.00
This is a beautiful campground. The campsites are spread out nicely, and each site has a pit for cooking or campfires. The grounds are nicely maintained - lush lawns and lots of trees. We will definitely return and recommend this campground to friends. - Al T

This North Dakota State Park is a real gem. Just about all sites have a great water view. Bathrooms and showers were very nice and clean. Sites are very spacious with lots of room along the waterline between neighbors. Many sites were unoccupied even in mid-August. This is a definite stopping point. However, be aware of countless ladybugs everywhere and biting flies along the water. - EVO_Bob
Aug 2016 - $22.00
We were looking for a place to spend a couple of quiet days. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We camped here on the weekend before Labor Day.
This is a large, beautiful campground on a peninsula in Lake Sakakawea. There are several distinct loops throughout the park. We stayed at Fishing Point which is primitive: no hookups. The sites are huge, grassy, no shade and all are right on the lake. The sites were not full over the weekend. The Far Loop sites are also primitive and most are large with good views. The Elbow Loop has large, gravel pad sites and water/electric. Sites along the perimeter have nice views. Some are pull throughs. Some of the Van Hook sites had nice views. The Sanish Loop had water/electric and had mostly long, narrow sites and felt crowded.
The park is meticulously maintained. The staff was helpful and friendly. Despite signs, there was no usable wifi. There's good ATT and Verizon cell coverage. - dsvt
Sep 2015 - $22.00
This campground has 249 first-come first-served sites and offers both electric/water hookups for $25 per night and non-hookup sites for $17 per night. Every site has a picnic table and a fire ring. This campground is pet-friendly. The pads in the non-hookup loop (we were in Fishing Point) are grassy and not entirely level, but easily workable with a few blocks.
The non-hookup loops and dump station area have potable water and threaded faucets. The water itself tasted a little funky during our stay, but it wasn't bad. The on-premises dump station is very large and surprisingly clean with four lanes for your dumping pleasure. Be warned if you stay here on a holiday weekend and need to dump-leave early or be prepared to wait.
During our stay the grounds were clean and well maintained. The grass was cut and the roads were free of major pot holes. The rangers came by every few hours to make sure everything was okay. Unfortunately, they didn't seem intent on enforcing the rules, as a quite a few of them drove by our neighbors who had all three of their dogs (and all four of their toddlers) off-leash and mostly unsupervised for the entire weekend.
We had excellent cell and data reception with 4 solid bars of Verizon LTE and 5 bars of Verizon 3G. We were able to stream videos and run updates the entire time we were there and had no interruption in service.
We often avoid state parks because they sometimes charge extra fees in addition to their camping fees. This place is no exception. Non-hookup sites are listed at $17, but you are also charged an additional $5 day-use pass per vehicle. But for a lakeside campground with amenities, the total nightly cost is still very reasonable. We'd easily stay there again the next time we are in the area. - technogypsies

A typical city park with some swing sets and a playground. We came up here to play in a softball tourney and the ball diamonds are close by. I enjoyed my stay for a couple of days. It was nice to get away and enjoy the slower life in a smaller town. - redlight

We stayed seven nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. This is a beautiful park in a great location on the Lewis and Clark Trail. The park is clean, well maintained, and the staff were very helpful. Note only the north loop is full hookup. We were able to move there after three days in a back-in water/electric site. Also note that some to the back-in sites share both a water pole and an electric pole. We had electric hookup on the left shared with that neighbor and water hookup on the right shared with that neighbor. Forces you to say howdy. Seriously, make sure you have enough electric cable, water hose, and a splitter for the spigot. The full hookup sites in the north loop are the most spacious sites I have ever seen. Most have room for RV, vehicle, boat and more. Really amazing. Paved roads, easy to navigate, easy water access, utilities work great. Many folks bring boats and fish, so have a ball. - Moe and Flo are on the go

Another great North Dakota state park!! This state runs a great program and this park was no exception, loved it. Lake is beautiful and BIG. No cable or wifi but that's all ND state parks. - Donny and Donna
May 2017 - $30.00
We thought Lewis and Clark State Park in Williston, ND was great, but Ft. Stevenson State Park in Garrison, ND was even greater! The spaces were huge, with lots of trees around them. The roads were paved and easy to navigate. We had full hook-ups, a fire pit, a picnic table, the works. Plus the marina isn't very far and they sell ice cream. The entire park was in pristine condition and very quiet. The staff were courteous and ready to help with anything you needed. - Marilynintexas
