Aug 2019 - $13.00
This was our 2nd visit to Downstream Campground (COE). Surprisingly, the CG remained less than half full on a fairly pleasant August weekend. Pros: Extremely low daily CG fees, a variety of fairly private and spacious sites that range from full-shade to partial sun, aged but clean restroom/shower building, and access to nearby boat ramp and swimming beach on Lake Ashtabula. Cons: Electric-only sites, on-site water access restricted to several communal faucets, very spotty cell phone service, limited access to satellite TV service at many sites due to tall shade trees. - Kona Boy
Aug 2017 - $13.00
First COE park we've ever stayed at and we would definitely return. We had a spacious site with plenty of room between us and our nearest neighbor. Although we had an electric site, we weren't charged extra for it (we ended up not having to use the electric). It was a short overnight stay, but we availed ourselves of the showers. Very nice campground hosts. The check-in process was a bit different - you had to stand near the information board to make a call to secure and pay for your site. But all worked out well in the end. There also is a dump station. - Marsha D
Jul 2017 - $13.00
We stayed here in a travel trailer and the price reflects our golden age pass. The campground has pit toilets, did not find the showers but didn't need them. Site was not level but wasn't difficult to level the trailer. Friendly helpful campground hosts. Would stay here again. - Sharlou

This is either self service or you can call and pay for a site with a credit card. The person you talk to doesn't have any knowledge of how many or what sites are available. It looks like there are some long term residents there. The site I stayed in had the electrical pedistal directly behind the motorhome. The water and sewer hookup where way off to the passenger side. If I parked closer to them I would have needed an extension for the electical. The campground is a long narrow strip of land right on Main St as you enter town. I pulled off of Main St, disconnected the car and had to back around the sign to get to section with the longer sites. Probably would not be a good place to stay for a really long unit. There were a few potholes. I was under trees so I didn't even try the satellite dish or bother with the OTA antenna for 1 night. - mrracechaser
Jun 2017 - $27.00
Nice spot in town. Quiet and neat. Ample power. Close to most businesses. Tight entrance for our 45' coach. We were unable to enter the western spots from the west but had to enter the east side of the park to get off the road then turn around in the park and go to the western and larger spots. There is not a lot of room for turning around in the park. Suggest checking Google Earth before entering. If street traffic is heavy, getting into the park can be a challenge for larger units. Larger units might want to enter heading west. Only a few sites can accommodate a 45' unit. The front of the coach still came close to the park roadway. - 450 LXi
Jun 2017 - $27.00
Another year, another price increase. This is a decent place for an overnight stop, but at $27 a night it's not a value. We see this more and more in small towns and fairgrounds, raising the rates just because they can. Grass in sites is weeds and not mowed, though bank behind sites is maintained. Sites are squeezed together but fine if a space is left in between, other wise it would be impossible to open awning without hitting neighbor. Fine for an overnight stay but at this price WE'll go down the road next time. - lostinspace

Jan 2015 - $1.00
Permanently closed as of Jan 2015. Just the hotel remains in operation. - redlight
Sep 2012 - $20.00
The best I can say is it was cheap and close to the interstate. When we checked in there was one clerk and a line of people needing help for the campground and the motel, so no information was offered about restrooms, Wi-Fi, or anything. It was a place to plug in and the price was right, but I wouldn't seek this place out for any longer than one night. - Archivista
Jun 2012 - $25.00
There are only four sites with 50amp service, two on top of the hill and two in the “gully.” We put 4 inches of boards on the downhill side of site 16. The park wasn’t mowed when we got here; it looked very shabby. Someone did mow the second day and trimmed around the utility poles but not around the bushes or trees. The sites are all pull-through but the roads are just one lane with the sites at a 90 degree angle to the roads. No one in town seemed to know where to recycle. Water pressure was adequate. We didn’t hear a train; the interstate was below us so the noise from it wasn’t bad. We were asked not to run our a/c if we weren’t in the rig. We’d come again only if we could have site 1 or site 16. The park wasn’t busy and since we never had a rig on our downhill side, we had a great view to the west. - B&H

Aug 2014 - $26.00
This appears to be a very nice campground but did not work well for me with my 35" motorhome. The turn around was very small - I had to backup to complete the turnaround. The site (32) was not level and I moved to site (35) and it was not level either - both sites the wheels were off the ground to achieve level. No cell service. - Steveieray
Aug 2013 - $11.00
Not recommended for type A motor homes. Only 2 or 3 sites can be used by a type A without building ramps. The other sites are very sloping. Some curves in roads too tight for long units. Only 1 site with 50 amp service rest are 30. No cell phone service. We paid the rate for card-carrying seniors. Nearby Eggert's Landing C of E campground has fairly level sites, but so heavily wooded that satellite TV would be a challenge on most sites. - Bill Strong
May 2012 - $11.00
Price reflects Golden Age discount. Some sites are paved and some are gravel. The roads are narrow and tight for big rigs. Trees hang over the roads in some places, so I would recommend walking to sites first and decide before driving a big rig in. This one does not have a dump station, but West Ashtabula Crossing and Eggert's Landing does. West's station is very difficult to get a big rig to. Eggert's Landing is newer and easier to dump. I didn't need to dump, but I'm sure you would be allowed to use either of the others. If you have kids or pets check for ticks often. Beautiful lake and a quiet campground. I would probably go to Eggert's Landing next time. - Fulltime 5er

Located about 15 minutes north of I94 in western North Dakota this makes a good transit stop if heading east or west. The park has a variety of sites, some more level than others. The sites are nicely spaced with privacy adjoining a lake. The restroom is modern and very clean. This is the first COE Park we visited that didn’t allow you to pay at the park. You must call or go online for Recreation.gov in advance to reserve and pay for you site. There is no AT&T cell service at the park but appears there is a Verizon cell hot spot at the restroom. There is a nice beach and playground in the campground. We were the only ones there besides the host mid week in May. - linnemj
Sep 2018 - $13.00
Heavily wooded campground very close to the lake. 30 amp but no water and no sewer. Good road surface within the park. Plenty of privacy between sites and very quiet. Unable to get satellite signal with the trees and Verizon was hit-or-miss. Campground host met us at the entrance and was very helpful. - GrandpaDan
May 2018 - $26.00
I can't say enough great things about the owner and the campground. It was an amazing experience and will definitely be coming back for future camping stays! We had truck trouble and the owner got on his phone and made a phone call and within one hour, he brought my bf in to Valley City to get the part and brought him back and had the part installed by the guys friend that was also at the campground. It was amazing customer service! The bathrooms were always clean and saw them cleaning them as well. It was a super friendly and family oriented place. The tenting sites are right up next to the water too, and have shady sites. They just installed a new playground for the kids 2 weeks ago, which was nice. The swimming area/beach is fun as well. We can't wait to go back! - JuliaA

Jul 2011 - $15.00
This campground is open--at least it was open the end of July. The owners said if they received more rain they would have to close again. The condition of the grounds was poor due to the recent flooding, and that is reflected in the price. It was OK for a place to stop for the night. The owners were there when we arrived, but the instructions on their voice mail are for self-registration. DO NOT follow your GPS instructions; you will end up on a dirt road in the middle of cornfields. The directions posted in the camping books are correct. - Midwest Fiver
Jun 2011 - $30.00
This may a nice campground, but right now it is closed due to flooding. The problem is you don't know this until you get there because the phone number currently is a fax number and the website doesn't work. Fortunately, we were heading East and the Governor's Inn campground was less than an hour away. - eclp64
Jun 2010 - $22.00
What a wonderful little campground! Prairie Haven is quiet and shady. The facilities are not brand new, but are meticulously maintained. Although it's small, they have some pull-throughs, some back-ins, and some tent sites. They have some 30 amp and some 50 amp sites. We had no trouble getting in or out, with our 40 foot coach with a car in tow. Prairie Haven is just what we were looking for. No frills, no pool, no WiFi and $22 for the Good Sam rate. It really beats the $54 KOA charged me the next night! The cell phone and air card worked fine. Hostess was very friendly and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We enjoyed this campground so much, that on the way out we changed our return plans so we could stay here again. Whenever we pass through this area, we'll make it a point to stop here. - Dream2RV

Jun 2018 - $20.00
This is a lovely little community park. It is self-register and payment on the honor system. Each packed gravel site was pretty level and came with full hookups, a fire ring, picnic table and your very own trash can. The town itself is neat as a pin and if you walk around you will find a series of historical markers in front of certain buildings, a very nice memorial to local service members and a small park with horseshoe pits. It is perfect for an overnight stay or perhaps longer if you need some peace and quiet. - CnCOntheGo
May 2018 - $20.00
This is not a destination resort. It is a quiet, unattended, but well-maintained city park in a nice little town about 3 miles off Interstate 94. In the center of town (5 minute walk from the campground) we found a neat tavern/restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. Sites were gravel, but level. Plenty of room for our 39 foot fifth wheel and truck. Nice restful place to overnight. We will definitely come back. - Bobby G
Sep 2016 - $20.00
Nice gravel sites set off with wide grassy spaces between. Quite level in all sites. A few permanent occupants at $350 per mo. No restrooms or showers so not suitable for tenting. No shade but great tree break to the North to break those ND winds. Do not turn before you cross the railroad tracks coming in from the South. Camping sign is by the dirt road before the tracks. Drive East through town and turn north by the sign. - easydoesit
