An old KOA with all the baggage that comes with it. They seem to be trying to improve with removing trees (but the stumps all remain) and re-graveling (but many sites are sloped). The first site we were given had 12 inches of slope. After being told that it must be our motorhome that has an issue with that much slope, we were finally given one with 6 inches of slope. For big rigs there are few sites that are level. Road into the park has sections of new pavement followed by potholed road. The park roads are dirt and this time of year are worn out. Utilities worked well but our site the sewer was 30 feet away. Satellite worked with some issues (not sure if it was trees or distance north). They have a private beach on the river next to the park. This is a good area for exploring Cabot trail as most of Cabot trail is not big rig friendly. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice campsite. Lots to do inside the camp from kayaking on the river, swimming pool, huge field to play for kids and playground, rec hall. Staff were very friendly and escorted us to our site. They were kind and flexible enough to change our reservation when our reservation at another campground was cancelled due to Hurricane Dorian projected arrival. They then moved us to a safer site away from trees due to the approach of a Hurricane Dorian. The campground was well kept and updated. Nice touches of lobster traps at some sites. We would recommend this campground to others. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We were here for a week, using the time to explore and visit the area. The big rig area, where we were with our fifth wheel, was out in the open, on a hill, sites a bit close. This is a great place from which to use as home base for visiting the area. There is no TV, but they have a free DVD library. WiFi is good. Management is very "user friendly"and concerned bout their customers. We didn't use the pool but people were always using it. Walking through the park, the tent and pop up sites were very nice. I would recommend it and go back if in the area. Did I mention how safe we felt there? We hated to leave. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great jumping off point for driving THE CABOT TRAIL. Be sure and try the sailing outing on the AMOEBA in Baddeck. We also went into town for a fiddle concert. Took the ferry to the town of Iona, and went to the HOGHLAND VILLAGE.

Like others said, the sites are tight, we had a back in and were within several feet of our neighbors on all sides. WIFI works best at 6AM. After 8 it is super slow or non existent and again at night. No cable. Also no place to put dog waste. They say only clear garbage bags in the dumpsters, but dog poop bags are not clear. I tried to have my dog go in the high grassy areas. They have a nature trail that they are trying to clear and make a nice trail. I was warned it could be muddy in places. It was, but I knew that going in. Interior road is bad, but again manageable. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cabot trail is easy to access from here. Just remember, it takes 5+ hours to drive the whole thing and then depending on stops, hikes, etc. it could be longer. Check the weather on both sides before going. We had been told to drive it counterclockwise, but when I checked the weather, it was iffy counterclockwise, but sunny going clockwise. If you are here for several days, get the park pass that is the equivalent of almost 3 days if you plan on going back more than once.

Overall Rating:

The location of this park is the only thing that saved me from giving it a less than average review. The sites for the travelers are VERY tight! To get our 37 Ft fifth wheel to fit onto the site, we had to back up within inches of the camper behind us. When we put our awning out, we had about 2 feet of space to the next rig. Thankfully, we had great neighbors and we all worked together to park our tow vehicles. When we left in the morning, we had to ask neighbors to move their cars so we could exit. The campground is very pretty and their are large areas set aside for playgrounds etc. The more spacious sites are set aside for the seasonal campers. We would not return to this park. Too tight! We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Good Sam discount rate for a nine day stay. Site was a pull-through, level, gravel, FHU with 50 amp. Our site was a "buddy" site where our entry door would have faced the neighbors entry door and shared a common patio area, but fortunately no one was on the neighboring site during our stay.

We had weak Verizon cell and internet reception (on our Verizon Canada roaming plan). We did not have DishTV satellite reception, but that may have been because of the trees. We had no OTA TV reception. The park WiFi was spotty; some times it was fast, but other times it was painfully slow. Laundry facility was adequate with 5 top load washers ($3) and 8 dryers ($1 for 22 minutes). The entry road to the park and the parks interior roads are rough, but manageable. We would stay here again. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We used this campground as our base for exploring Cape Breton.

It is 90 minutes to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park via either Cheticamp or Ingonish. It is 90 minutes to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site. It is 10 minutes to the restaurants and shopping in Baddeck and the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site.

As stated before, road into campground is pretty rough. Staff very helpful and friendly. Campground was crowded, sites are tiered due to terrain so our slide was almost in our neighbor's site. Laundry facilities were very good. No cable (found that to be the case at all the Canadian campgrounds we stayed in). WiFi not very good and Verizon cell reception not great - usually 1 or 2 bars, rarely 4G. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice heated pool and beach access. Good amenities and store on site. Would stay here again. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Motorhome.

Friendly and helpfull staff. Entrance to campground a bit narrow and the first 100 yards or so is bumpy. Interior roads are a bit narrow and bumpy. Had a spacious and long pull through site. Water pressure was great. Should be like that in all parks. 50 and 30 amp service with breakers on site. Wifi was slow and near impossible at peak volume times. No cable TV. Sites are level but on the small side for our unit. No quite enough bathroom for the campground, and as a result, there is always a line up in the morning and evening. In addition, there is not enough hot water for shower for the campground either, and more than once we had some rather cool showers. Facilities are clean though.

The website on which we supplied credit card to book was not secured. I ended up using a low limit credit card that I don't mind getting compromised. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Travel Trailer.

One of the better RV parks in Canada. the owners are very friendly and have excellent service. We had no problem getting our 40' 5th wheel into our spot. They escort you to your spot and guide you in if you need help. Water pressure is good, connections are placed properly. Wifi was very good compared to 90% of parks in North America. We were in the area at the top of the park, lots of space between spots. Was here 2 years ago and highly recommend this location to explore the Cabot Trail and Sydney; do the trail one day, Sydney and Louisburg the other and that's enough for Cape Breton! This is the second time we have stayed here and we think it is a very good campground. We ask for the pull throughs in the 240/250s range and they are quite spacious - obviously not as large as you can get in a Provincial or State park, but good for a commercial campground. We have a 36 foot 5th wheel, with 3 slideouts (on both sides) and we're fine. There was plenty of room to park our truck without feeling cramped. The campground has all of the facilities, good washrooms, pool, woodland trail, convenience store (with complimentary DVD rentals) and a campers' lodge with free coffee, TV, pool table etc. The owners are friendly and helpful, and it is dog friendly. The campground is only a 5-10 min drive to Baddeck. We like it here. We camped at Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
