We had problems finding a site in a campground in Cape Breton, since we wanted to stay over a weekend. I called MacKinnon's and was initially told they too were full, and did not have room for a large motorhome. However the young lady told me the owner would call me back. Ten minutes later the owner called and said he could accommodate us if we wanted to park behind the office. We went on to Google Earth and looked at the campground on street view. The site he suggested looked just fine so we made a reservation. The campground is mainly seasonals, but he has 3 long, back in sites behind the office with 30 amp FHU. When we arrived, there was already another 45 foot motorhome parked there. We parked along them and had plenty of space and were very happy with the site. It was level, the power was stable and the water pressure was adequate. The campground is clean and we found the owner extremely friendly and helpful. All the seasonals were friendly as well. The campground is on the lake so boating and fishing are easily accessible. The western side of the Cabot Trail is a 30 minute drive from the campground and we drove the entire trail in a 9 hour day. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to the area, and will suggest this campground to our friends who visit the area. We camped at MacKinnon's Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lots of seasonals, very few overnight spots. We lucked out by getting a lakeside spot (#15) because the two closest to the office/store got occupied by bigger rigs. Yes, the lake spots are back-in only, but no problem for us and our 13 ft trailer. Wi-Fi works well. Management is friendly but not very organized. We called ahead to make sure a spot was available and waited for a call back but the owner never received the message. I actually think he did but forgot; he seemed a little preoccupied. Anyway, we got a nice site with a beautiful view. Price quoted is in CAD before taxes. We camped at MacKinnon's Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Family owned/operated; very helpful, friendly and concerned. We parked 'nose to water' on site 11; superb view. Lots of seasonal units (looks like only 17 overnight sites). Park (including seasonals) is very well maintained. Waterfront sites are extremely close quarters. Difficult turn around for big rigs (no U-turn area nor continuous road. Must back-and-fill). Dump station is readily accessible when entering park; has 'wrong slope' when departing. Wi-Fi (at least at our site) was very slow and frustratingly intermittent. Rating would have been 8 if transient sites were wider, reversing direction were easier and Wi-Fi had been more reliable. We camped at MacKinnon's Campground in a Motorhome.
