Spent 3 delightful days here with another couple, one of which is retired military and got the discount. Check-in was quick and friendly. It is open to the public at a higher rate, but still a good value. Site spacing was excellent, sites were long and level. Interior roads were easy to navigate. Park was quiet all day and night. Shower house and pedestal require keys, which are provided at check-in. We plan to return to Camp Perry again. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Enjoyed sitting out and relaxing as well as catching the ferry to Put In Bay for a day of fun and food. There are nice restaurants in Port Clinton, a quaint town on Lake Erie. For no-frills seafood check out Jolly Roger's, but be prepared to wait.

The only reason this didn't a 10 was because of no wifi and no dog park. Other than that, the park was great. Plenty of room between the sites, the location was well thought out in that the electric was clear to the back, the water was a little further forward and the sewer hookup was 1/2 way on the site. Someone knew what they were doing! No problem getting satellite dish signal, Verizon signal was sufficient, and the lawn was well kept. Roads and sites are asphalt and grass in between sites. We would definitely go back. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Really nice campground. 40 sites with good road network. Sites are blacktop, level and long. Narrow, but usable for our 40 motor home. Water and electric standard park utilities (locked, given key at registration). Dump is somewhat unusual. There is a 6" opening in a 36" iron cap. When you remove the 6" opening, there is the standard piping for your dump hose, 8/10" below. I have a Sani-con system. Little difficult to get the end, into that space and secure it onto the dump pipe. There is a table and fire ring at each site. There is toilet/shower building located at the park. Didn't use, tho many folks did. OTA TV reception poor and no cable. When here last, (06) the trees were newly planted. Tree near our site is a Callory Pear, now 7-8" caliper. Nice lush lawn throughout. When entering Camp, signs direct you towards RV PARK. You pass the park road and end up at (the office) where you register. (There is a printable map on their web site that is useful) Didn't know that. Made U-turn there and went to park. Called office, they gave me site #, parked, and went back to office and registered. On their web site, lists a dining hall open to everyone, but when I inquired, told there was none. Their web site need updating. Camp was full (Memorial weekend) of young families. Thought that many were active guardsmen (no near military bases), until I found out park is open to public. There is no gate to the post. There is no security patrolling to insure rules are maintained. Rules ignored this weekend. No quiet hours, no dog rules (must be leashed) not running loose. Kids on skate boards, bikes and a not so new stand-on gizmo late into the nite. There were three large (separate) groups partying. Must have requested specific sites to be together. We have stayed at FamCamp's throughout 46 (??) states. Cost out of range for what you get. Other campground near-by, with various discounts, offers more. At $40/nite, (with military discount) doubt that we will return. Many campgrounds near. Check them out before booking here. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Motorhome.

Small, very well kept park. Sites are very long, paved and very wide. Grass is good with young trees. Water pressure is good. You need to check in at the conference center which is a large building Northeast of the RV park. Be advised that pets are allowed in the RV park only, nowhere else on the post. If your dog needs a long walk you will make a lot of circles in the park. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

RV Park is located on Camp Perry base. Every weekend is like the Fourth of July due to firearm range on the base. Expect military drills. There is a nifty arrangement of tanks, helicopters, etc. near the PX. Public rifle range but air rifles only. Pistol range is minimum 50 yards. Sites are 45 feet long and paved. They are all back in. Grassy, well kept, level sites. Shade trees have been planted but they are still pretty young. Power stayed on even in storms. Water pressure decent. Very near Lake Erie and the pier. You must register at the conference center which sits right on the Lake Erie shore. Dogs are permitted ONLY in the campground. Wifi is available only in the conference center but it is very good and free. Sewer connection a little different as there is manhole type cover and there is no pipe style connector, just poke your sewer line down into the hole. We did not leave our sewer connected. We were volunteering for The Biggest Week in American Birding and were housed here for the month of April. During that time we were generally the only campers. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Park is located on the Camp Perry base, but is open to the public. Sites are concrete, level, and extremely long, and each has a picnic tables and fire ring. Power was reliable and water pressure was good, but water was terrible! Sign on water spigot said to let it run for 30 seconds before hooking up and turning on (we did), but it didn't make any difference. We had to change our water filter after we left, and we had just put a new filter in the week before! The water is a brownish color that tastes terrible! I would HIGHLY suggest using bottled water during your stay!

The park is quiet and sits directly on the shores of Lake Erie, but there is no water view from the park. There is, however, a fishing pier with easy access and a short walk from your site. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Motorhome.

We stayed here early May and this was our first visit to this park. During the week we spent here there was only one other RV in the park, which is just fine with us. No dogs are allowed in all of the Camp Perry facility except just in the RV park, which was just fine with us as we get tired of all the barking dogs and dog doodoo in most parks anymore. The showers and restrooms were immaculate, maybe because no one was using them but very nice anyway. The grounds were kept very nice also. Wi-Fi in the Conference center was very good. We would stay again. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Motorhome.

We stayed here four days our granddaughter was shooting air rifles. Nice park. No shade to speak of but had good electric. I would stay here again only if I had someone shooting. While we was there they was experiencing a May Fly hatch of biblical proportions. There were dead flies everywhere. It was impossible to keep them out of our R. Bad smell but it was over about the time we left. Good paved level site. ADMIN NOTE: WiFi is available at the clubhouse We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Motorhome.

This park may have been upgraded since the last review. When we got there, the area had just been mowed and trimmed; it looks very nice. The forty asphalt pads looked brand new to us. They're 45 feet long, but only about 8 or 9 feet wide. The bathhouse looks new, as well. The floor is concrete, but aside from that it's large and very well kept. The Wi-Fi worked well. The $29 rate reflects the discount with a military ID. No matches were going on, so there were only 2 to 4 rigs there the whole four days we were there. They do have a lot of ants; take some yard spray. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Motorhome.

This is a nice clean park but it has gone to the dogs. Until last week there was a no pet policy, now its changed. There is no WiFi or swimming pool but the beach is within walking distance. The wife and daughter went wading and got some kind of redish oil on them. Got to see the ROTC in training. (Looked like a nice bunch of younguns, so I think it was Jr. ROTC.) The price is high for what you get, but the cheapest in the area. I was staying here to get some repairs done on the air conditioner. I would come back if needed to, but not by choice. Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Camp Perry is the home of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), along with Ohio National Guard units. Because it is a dual use facility, non-military has access to the facilities for a variety of uses, and it is a great place to stop. The RV park is located about 1/2 mile inland from Lake Erie and has a large, sandy beach. The RV park is new within the past two years. A brand new shower/rest room facility just opened in June 2008 and it is superb. Access to that building is via your key used to unlock your campsite water & electric. Each site is a back in, but the sites are huge and will accommodate the longest RVs. Each site has full water, sewer, electric. There is a small PX located nearby that is quite well supplied. Camp Perry is used extensively for military and Civilian Marksmanship Program shooters, so if the sound of small arms/machine gun fire is not your cup of tea, this place isn't for you. Military barracks are located across the street from the RV park, but the soldiers keep to themselves. The park is immaculate, well maintained, and easy access both in and out. Check in at the Camp Perry Conference Center to get key for your site. The parking lot for the Conference Center has two sides; park your RV in the LEFT side as you enter, and you'll have plenty of room to turn out for the RV park which is about 1/2 mile away from the conference center. GPS coordinates for the RV campground are N41deg 32min 33.15sec/W083deg 00min 58.86 sec W. Conference Center coordinates are N41-32-46.13/W083-00-47.49, readily visible on Google Earth. RV Park is not shown on the Google Earth picture, because the overhead shot is vintage 2002, but it is located at the coordinates given. We camped at Camp Perry Lodging & Conference Center in a Fifth Wheel.
