I've been wanting a beautiful sunset. This was the cg to enjoy the colors above the peaceful lake. Our site was above the lake with a narrow path to the shore. Level, wide open canopy with tall trees and shore vegetation. Just such a peaceful view of the lake to relax by. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

The forest setting of this park is beautiful. Common areas were mowed and free of litter. Hay had been disbursed in the RV areas to help with mud. Very well managed and operated. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay, despite some rainy days. We were in a FHU pull through, which was paved and can easily accommodate big rigs. We were in site 95, the pad was level, but the site was not. Try to get one of the other pull throughs. Reservations are a must for the FHU sites. This is definitely one of the cleanest state parks with attentive and friendly staff and hosts. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Park was great. Everyone was very nice and the camp was quiet. It was electric only but the dump station had easy access. We didn't need the extra's because we like to play games by the fire. I would give it a 10 if we had water and sewer. We stayed for 4 nights. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a great state park campground! We stayed here for 5 nights and would have loved to have stayed longer. There are a variety of site types available - we had electric, water, sewer. Finding sewer in a state park was a real treat! The bathrooms were very clean. We didn't use the showers, but they looked great. There were even a couple of washers and dryers in the bathhouse - another great surprise at a state park. Most sites were tucked into the trees offering quite a bit of privacy. Cell service (Verizon) was very weak, but was available. Our site (#118) was a great campsite. Neighbor on one side was somewhat close, but trees in between made it feel like we still had privacy. Not too close and not too far from the bathroom. Site was almost completely level. It was a bit of a drive to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but worth the drive for what we got at the campground. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There are many good things about this park, but there are a few that "knock" them down. On the positive side there are that many of the sites are near the water. The shower houses (4) are always very clean, nice roomy shower stalls. Nice playground for the kids, all the sites are paved, and most of the sites have at least some shade. Now what keeps this park from being a getting a 10. #1 Even with a complete re-build in 2003 (adding 150 new sites) the site pads are unnecessarily not level, and short in length. It would have taken a little more excavation to make most of the sites level. #2 During this re-build the site aprons to back into a site should have been much larger, thus causing your tow vehicles tire to roll into the soft muddy grass. And #3, a lot of mud in about a 1/3 of the sites. There is no gravel of cinders to combat this mess. People put down straw, but that only makes it worse. as also the hiking trailer are a muddy mess. Bring your Muck boots. Both #1 & 2 could have been a non-issue if the contractor re-building the park was at all familiar with the needs of a RVer. Every site pad was to be 65' deep and much more level than what is now available. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice park with mostly paved, widely spaced sites. Some of the sites have no visual separation between them. Some sites are easily accessible by big rigs, but many are not. The loop roads are narrow with ditches and trees located such that backing in a long fifth wheel can be very challenging. Many of the sites have a moderate slope. The landing gear on our fifth wheel is extended only about 3 inches, while the back jacks are almost fully extended. The entrance road has several very high speed bumps. The road from I-76 is in bad shape. Come in from the north through Ravenna if possible. The laundry is very nice, inside and with a folding table. The showers are good also. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful campground on the lake. Hiking, boating, fishing. Marina where you can rent pontoon boats. Quiet, mostly filled up on weekends. We camped here in October 2018. Mostly level sites but depends on your RV length with electric only on all but has a small section of full hookups. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Close to Kent University. Hartville Flea Market about 25 miles away and is a lovely place to spend some time. West Branch Park is a good place for biking, walking/hiking, boating, fishing. Stores in Ravenna about 10 miles. Guido's has good food, decent pizza. Liked shopping at Marc's grocery.

The park is nice and well maintained. Most sites are electric only, and there's a dump station and water near the entrance. Sites are fairly large, with asphalt pads, picnic tables, and fire rings. Most of the pads were pretty far off level. We were not able to get completely level. One of the few state parks I've seen that has laundry machines. AT&T Service was excellent. Verizon was good enough. Weekends. Weekends are noisy family affairs. Nearly every site is pushing up against the limits for number of people, number of vehicles, number of tents, etc. Lots of kids, lots of adults, lots of dogs, lots of boats. Lots of groups from multiple campsites having parties. Lots of power boats on the lake. If you're into that kind of thing, go for it. If you're not, weekdays are much quieter. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Be aware most sites are not full hookups. We thought we reserved a full hookup but it was electric only. Our bad. The route we took came from I-76 through Edinburg. Rock Spring road from Edinburg to the park is very rough, and it's about 5 miles long. The sides of the roads have been patched and not very well. Check in was quick as we only had to pick up our car pass and park map. However, we had some questions later and the staff seemed pretty uninformed. We had to pull into a parking lot on the other side of the check in area to unhook our car and then backtrack to our site. We were in site 1, and just so you know, sites 1-3 are right in front of where you check in. There must be quite the roadblock on busy check in days while people are trying to back into these spaces. Most of the sites are fairly short so few will handle large units. Site 1 is paved, long and pretty level. We were not able to get satellite coverage due to trees. Verizon cell worked fine. There is no WII FI. Quiet at night, and lots of boats and jet skis during the day. The showers are utilitarian. There was a sign indicating if the water was cold to let it run 15 minutes!?! Be ready for the no see um biters when you are outside! The picnic table has seen better days. Seems like a busy weekend place for local boaters. The price for value is low at $28 plus $8 reservation fee for electric only. We wouldn't stay here again. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

I would like to give this state park a higher rating, but the lady in the office neglected to find our reservation, causing an undue panic for us. We later called her with the reservation confirmation number, but hey, with the dates and our last name this shouldn't be difficult to find. Furthermore, I like kids, but there were kids running rampant everywhere. Maybe preventing children from biking near high traffic areas would be helpful and more safe? And if you have a tow vehicle unhitch it prior to entering the campground because this loop is a busy loop with some not so patient. We were a little late on check out and starting getting angry phone calls from the CG host. I called and explained the situation to the "manager on duty" and she took care of the situation. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

I have to say, this is the best State Park campground we have stayed at. They have a mixture of full hookup, pull-through, and tent camping. Most sites are very spacious, so you are not on top of each other, plenty of room. It was very quiet and right next to a lake. If you have a boat, this is a great place to go! Their marina has boats you can rent as well. For a state park, it was really nice! The bathrooms are top notch with great showers, better than some RV resorts. I would rate this park a 5 out of 5! Tips for other Campers:

We towed our motorcycle and did a lot of riding in the country. Not far from Canton, Akron, and Cleveland but we stayed out of the cities. If you are looking for a very quiet place to relax, this is the place. They have a small beach on the campgrounds and a large one on the other side of the lake.

Good: Sites nicely spaced; bathrooms clean; great Verizon coverage Bad: some noise from powerboats on the lake Overall reasonably well maintained. Would be a good destination for fishers and boaters, but also worked for us for a two-night base station to visit Cuyahoga N.P. Nice Bathrooms: modern fixtures, separate showers, mostly clean. Downsides were lack of heating, low water pressure, mold on shower curtain. Several washer/dryer pairs in each bathroom. Asphalt roads and pads. Sites reasonably separated, but some pads are visibly sloped, and most pads looked very narrow. We paid $26 + $8 res fee for electrical only (no water or sewer at site). Full hookups cost $35. Many sites are open and no trees, but others are among moderately wooded areas. Sites 4-10 close to kids play area and very open - ok for parents who want to stay at the site but still keep and eye on the kids. Sites 21, 35 and 51-69 seem most private. Verizon very good: 3bars, 4G We camped at West Branch State Park in a Motorhome.
