Jun 2018 - $68.00
Arrived to an extremely muddy and rutty campsite. The men's bathroom was revolting , where I almost vomitted. Smelly, filthy with gobs of wet organic unidentifiable material on the floor. Left the campground immediately. Owner was not reasonable, would offer NO refund. Lost over $500. - Tiny Camper 0000
Jun 2012 - $50.00
Sites were fairly level. Dusty gravel entrance road, which the manager/worker made sure the dust was flying. As small as the CG is, they should be able to get rid of the speeding ATVs. Other than those couple of gripes, it is a nice CG and if in the area. Would stay here again. - maineman
May 2012 - $40.00
Nice campground. Kids enjoyed it. Trees were nice but the top of our RV was extremely dirty from them & we had a lot of spiders in camper. I think also due to them. Store was never open and people were hardly ever at the office. Pond area was OK but had tons of geese droppings which didn't make it very appealing to go in. - Campers12

Oct 2018 - $33.00
Visited late October for a long weekend. Convenient to grandkids in Athens. A few transient spots appear to be set aside for large rigs, mostly in the wooded Hilltop loop. Most large sites were occupied by seasonal units. Many smaller sites were available in other loops. There are many water supply hydrants located through the camp so several sites are within a 100 foot hose reach. Nice dog walk trail along east side of lake. Sites are primarily sharp crushed stone, closely spaced, most with a slight to moderate grade. Our site was featured with hickory and oak trees with falling nuts pounding the roof. Bath house functional but poorly maintained, windows open with cranks removed during cold temps, no toilet paper, infrequent cleaning. Close to US-50 so expect highway noise. Will probably return again to visit family since we are fully contained, based only on convenience to Athens. - Newfwagen
Jul 2018 - $33.00
Seems like a funky park. Lots of RV's that are parked for the summer, families come out on the weekend. Site was dirt, with a little gravel. When it rained, it got muddy. No pad for picnic table, so it was not usable, because the ground was wet, easily became muddy. No water at the site, just electricity. No problem with electricity. Did go kayaking on the lake. Have a nice beach area for swimming, with an awesome looking blowup "play area" (slides, swing, climbing features). - Ol JB

Most of the campers at Lake Snowden are "extended stay" and many spend the entire summer at the lake. Sites are available on a daily, weekly, monthly, and even a seasonal basis. One big draw for campers is the Ohio Pawpaw Festival that is held every year. It is a fun, family festival with bands, kids activities, and heck they even sell Pawpaw beer for mom and dad! The people are so mellow and fun here, it is a great time. The campground always seems quiet, even during the Pawpaw festival. The campers are respectful and adhere to the rules and curfews. This is a place to go if you have a boat. The lake is very pretty for the paddler, and the fishing is fun for the angler. The grounds are kept up well, and there are stores and gas stations close by. It is very close to Athens, Ohio and the historic Ohio University campus. A short drive to Athens will give you night on the town or a day full of fun at a relaxed and quaint college town From the web site: "Campsites are divided into 4 areas. The Locust Grove is ideal for those wanting to use the horse trails. Big Oak camp has some lakefront sites and is close to the play area. Hickory Camp is close to the camp shelter house and off the beaten path. Hilltop Camp offers sites on the hilltop with hot showers and flush toilets (vault toilets are located in the other camps). Lake Snowden is a 675 acre education and recreation park, featuring the largest of four lakes which form the Margaret Creek Conservancy District. The lake covers approximately 136 acres offering camping, boating, fishing, picnicking and swimming. The serene setting reveals natural beauty while maintaining the convenience of being just 5 miles from Athens, Ohio. The shelter houses, restroom facilities, beach, shoreline fishing holes, and fish hatchery make Lake Snowden a full-featured recreation park." - Accidental RVer

Jun 2019 - $27.00
Our experience was not a good one. No camp hosts or rangers were available and phone numbers on signs were nonfunctional. The site and all sites in this campground are not large RV friendly. The sites are very narrow, drop-offs on both sides, trees on both sides, and terribly unlevel! Reserve America stated there were no pull-throughs, but there were, but they were not good for large RVs either. - 01Quicksilver
Sep 2017 - $24.00
This park is NOT big rig friendly. Very difficult parking. Built for smaller rigs and tents. Paved but very narrow pad with drop offs on each side. Beautiful area. Electric only on some sites. Another State Park nearby is much more friendly to larger RVs and has a section of full hookups. - Joanne S
Oct 2016 - $20.00
This site along with many others are poorly designed and built. Site 175 is slopped down hill and while the pad was paved there was a sharp 45 degree drop off off of the payment. Unless you have a front of the axle door you have a 1' to 3 1/2' drop (with a rear door) from your steps. The lot is all downhill from there. There is not even a level spot for a tent. The neighbor, two lots down have 3' posts under the rear stabilizer jacks of this AirStream. To level my 5th wheel the pin was about 3' from the ground, normally when level about 4' This site needs a patio on the right side and steps down the hillside. Raising the back of the site to level with the road would be too much at this point, but a patio on this site and others would make this campgrounds a lot better. - Wi1dBi11

Oct 2019 - $40.00
We needed a place to stop on our way south through Ohio. We found Carthage Gap here on this site. Our expectations were more than met and we would definitely stay here again. The park is modest but well maintained. The owners are on site and obviously take pride in their property. Theresa, one of the owners, checked us in, escorted us to our site, and even stuck around while we hooked up. Our site was a very generous pull through we great access to water, power and sewer. The even had a lovely lawn next to the coach where we enjoyed a cocktail in the evening. - reofinadv
Sep 2019 - $40.00
We stayed one night while on our way north. The owner escorted us to our site which was a pull-thru in the back of the campground. Most other units were "seasonal" and were unoccupied. It was a very quiet and pleasant night. The driveway in and out of the park can be a bit challenging. It is gravel, crosses a narrow dam and then goes up a steep hill with a turn in the middle of the hill (if you have 4-wheel drive, it will definitely help). - WoodLark-SC
Jun 2019 - $15.00
The park is pretty and the owners spend lots of time working on the roads, sites, and vegetation. The roads are the only poor parts. The road in in one way and goes between 2 ponds on a dike--scary. The interior roads are narrow and some tight turns. The owner talked me into my back-in site--I call him the RV whisperer. The park is quiet, nice playground, swimming pond (closed while I was there). They had events at the pavilion, but I never heard about them till they were happening. The Laundry needs some cleaning, but all the machines worked and good price. Some of the other renters were rather noisy, but only on weekends. - Bet

Jul 2019 - $92.00
We stayed here as an alternative to the state park. It was clean, pretty, and wooded. The entrance road to the campground is the worst we’ve ever experienced - it is steep, bumpy, and it would be very difficult for two vehicles to pass each other. Unfortunately, this is the only way into the campground. The campground owners recognize this issue, and there are no early arrival/late departure options. There are no arrivals after 9 pm. It is very hilly and hard to maneuver a travel trailer around some of the roads inside the campground. The sites are on the hills, so it was difficult to position the trailer and have it level, and it took us quite awhile to get set up after we arrived. There was a very small patio that was large enough for the picnic table that was carved into a hill. The fire ring was on top of the hill. - Morning Star
May 2019 - $60.00
Very hilly as should be expected in Hocking Hills. Stayed elsewhere last time and regret that horrible campground. This park is wonderful in comparison. - XPX
Apr 2019 - $60.00
This KOA is extremely convenient to Hocking Hills State Park. Campsites are nicely spaced, though not the most level but that figures given the terrain. Being so early in the season (they turned the water on to the campsites while we were here), it was super quiet. The store is nice with good fudge and very friendly employees. My only complaint is that it is expensive- $3 per kid per night? They did give us a free upgrade to a deluxe site given the water situation. - KyKampers

We had a very pleasant stay at this park. The canoeists going down river all day was much fun and entertaining. The site was comfortable, well maintained and had easy access for a leisurely week end to relax. - Giggor
Apr 2016 - $40.00
The sites are in a row right on the river. All the sites are pull through so there is a little gravel lane that circles the sites the site are in the center. We really enjoyed watching canoes and kayaks go down the river. We brought our own kayak and were able to launch it right there. It is owned by the Nazarene church so it is a very quiet campground. If you want to drink you have to pour your beer into a cup, which we did not mind. The campground hardly had anyone there so we had the place to ourselves. - camptime2016
Oct 2014 - $40.00
This is a very small basic park. There no one there to check you in. You take whichever campsite you want. There is no pool or playground for kids. There is only 30am electric available. There is water available but not at each site. There is a dump station although you have to block the road out of the park to dump. Their website says that all campsites are on the river but there is a campground road between the campsite and the river. All sites have a cement patio and most have picnic tables. There is a fire ring on the riverbank, across the road from the campsite. The pull thru site we had was long enough for our 37 ft. MH and two other vehicles. It was grass over a base of gravel and was almost level. It is next to a road that we found out is very busy and very noisy. At the entrance of the park you had to descend a short but very steep hill. If your brakes failed you would end up in the river. It served it's purpose as a place to park our MH while we visited the area attractions but we felt it was over priced. We probably would not return. - User3125
