Beautiful shaded sites. Many big trees. One of the better KOAs. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Access entering the park was easy and very maneuverable once there. Be aware: there is construction on Rt 40 for several miles and the exit and turn to the road the park is on is not marked due to the construction. Our GPSs (3 of them) could not get a signal there. If traveling West, upon exiting freeway, do not turn left at the main road. Park is to the right approx. 1/4 mile. We had a large, long pull-thru with patio, chairs and fire pit. Site was gravel and level. Maneuvering the park for in/out was good. Office staff friendly and helpful. Stayed for overnight. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Motorhome.

Clean park, very close to I-40, staff was helpful. Sites were close to level, utilities worked fine and some looked like they were recently replaced. Most sites have good shade but most of the sites on Owl and KOA Lanes are in the open. Good example of a well run KOA. We will use it again. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here two nights, to do laundry and catch up on chores. Most sites are shaded, without views. Our site, B05, was wide enough to not feel crowded and long enough to disconnect and still park in front of the 5th wheel. Office staff was friendly and efficient. Maintenance staff were courteous and helpful. Utilities were fine. WIFI was OK for email/web although their credentialing system was unusual, where every phone/laptop/computer requires a separate password for connection. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Staff very friendly and helpful. After having been in the Southwest all winter, was great to camp amongst large oak trees. Those trees however meant navigating into and out of site a little challenging. Sites really close together but fairly long. Too many trees for satellite but lots of OTA stations from Oklahoma City. Nice gift store. We would return. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Motorhome.

A nice KOA with a rural feel. The KOA is just 15 minutes from downtown, but it feels like you are much further away due to the large trees around and surrounding the park and since it is so quiet. The park is a mix of back in and pull through sites. All of the sites are gravel and some of the roads are also gravel. We had a pull through site that we just big enough for us if we parked our car parallel to the road in front of our rig. The park has the standard amenities of a small pool, bathroom and shower building with laundry facilities. They have wifi what works well enough to check email, but it slows down significantly during the morning and evenings. This park is lighter on amenities than what we typically see at other KOAs, but the price was very reasonable. All of our reviews and pictures at thegilliamsisland. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Motorhome.

Got there mid-afternoon in a pouring rain that lasted into the wee hours, still site was level and a few puddles (to be expected). Didn't unhook the truck. Set up the sat TV and hunkered down. The next day was bright and sunny. Enjoyed my walk thru the park, even met owner's son and had a nice chat. Easy in and out. Can't blame them for Oklahoma D.O.T re-doing the exit from the interstate (about a mile away). A very charming park despite the wet start.

Aa good place for a cross-country run. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great stopover along I-40. Nice wide, long pull through. It's sort of on a sloping hill, but our site was so level that I thought the automatic leveling jacks weren't working. Great customer service, they were so friendly and helpful... which is much appreciated after a long day on the road. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Motorhome.

Park advertises 25 channels of cable TV, but was told upon check in that cable was not installed in the section of the park where I was going to stay. So in essence I paid for a feature I did not get. I was in space B33. Wifi was difficult to connect, but when I finally did connect was adequate for most email functions, but not for active browsing. The sites are larger than some parks I've visited, and are reasonably level. I didn't use any of the in-park services such as laundry or showers so I can't report on them. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is no shopping closer than about 7 miles. There is a commercial area in Choctaw that has a nice Walmart and several chain and local restaurants. As of the time of this review the exit for this park is in the middle of a construction zone on I-40. Pilot Flying J and Loves Travel Center both at the exit.

We stayed one night to visit friends who were in the park as we passed through. We were given a site in the newer section, and it was adequate. Kind of hilly and challenging to get out with the tight turns and trees, but we made it. We didn't make use of the amenities since we were only there overnight and the weather was wet and cold. With full hookups we used our own bathroom and laundry inside the rig. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

My review is mixed and based on a longer stay. An overnighter probably wouldn't see these issues at all. It's a recently expanded park with basic amenities. Roads and sites are good except a couple of turns/hills are sharp/steep. Roads & sites are a combination of asphalt/paved and gravel. Nicely wooded park. Premium sites are very nice (we did not stay on one of those). Basic sites include picnic table. Office and laundry area needs updating but is clean & functional. Large number of seasonal residents but sites and rigs are tidy. Dog park is very small and sandy/muddy. Dog park refuse bin was almost always overflowing. Activity building was closed the entire time except when the owners opened it for a garage sale. (??) Also campground workers speed through the park in golf carts and vehicles. One worker brings his dog off-leash everywhere even though it's against park rules. Best part: 1-mile nature trail through the woods. We walked it every day. Worst part: They wanted us to pay an estimated electric bill at the end of our stay, when no charge for electric had ever been mentioned on website, email confirmation, or upon check-in. Convenient location for visiting Tinker Air Force Base or Midwest City. Only a half hour into Oklahoma City proper. We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely campground with nice landscaping, wide gravel pull through sites, and nice folks. We were escorted to our WSE site where all services worked well although we did have to work to get level side-to-side. Good internal paved roads. Iffy WiFi but our Verizon worked well. Ok cable. Nice laundry ($2 to wash , $2 to dry). Convenient to OK City, shopping, gas, restaurants. We enjoyed our two nights here and would stay here again if in the area. Stayed three nights to see the area. The first site we were assigned wasn't long enough for our motorhome and tow car. Fortunately they were able to get us into one of the newer sites toward the back of the campground. Those were better for satellite and did not have cable. Very attractive campground. We normally stay at another campground when traveling thru OK, but they had a rally so there was no room. So glad I found this KOA. Staff was super nice and helpful. We paid for a premium patio site and it was wonderful! Spacious site, wonderful patio with pavers with firepit, BBQ, table and chairs. This is a great example of a KOA moving into the 21st century by making big upgrades. It was very comfortable and enjoyable! We camped at Oklahoma City East KOA in a Motorhome.
