Truck problems forced us to visit this RV Park. It is located in a portion of Fort Chaffee military base that was sold/gifted to the city of Fort Smith. The town is a ghost town except for a few workers here or there. The park has lots of very nice RVs; figure most are long term visitors working in the area. Only two spots were available. Price is reflects 50amp FHU, cable (only worked one of two days) and internet. Spacing was acceptable. Spot was the most unlevel spot we've encountered in 2 yrs of traveling full time and was used as someone's ash tray. Connections are at the back of the spot. - MichelleKry

Site was rustic. Needed a long sewer hose because we moved forward to use Satellite. Gravel and not level but scenic once settled. Narrow access on the turn to RV section. Suggest going through the parking lot to access. Facilities were clean and our interactions with staff was wonderful. - godoit

This is a small Military RV Park but very well maintained. We stayed 2 nights here and we will definitely be back. Everyone there was really nice. Interior roads were weathered and a little tight for my rig but it was easy to navigate. - Keith Goins

Midpoint stop for the night. Reserved site was marked. Spacious sites with a small pond down the hill. We pulled in late and left early. The campground entrance is not clearly marked at night. - Rivercityjeff

This park has 2 parts. A backs up to the water with a picnic table behind the camper and close to the water. All sites are asphalt and level. There is a nice space between the campsites with grass in between. B is in more of the woods, with more space in between sites than A. We drove around B. B 23 is very unlevel but the rest looked fine to us. - National Parks Traveler

On the day we arrived we had friends get here first to someone setting up in their reserved site. No reserved signs were put on either of our sites. We had a tent camper in our site. He had packed up to leave when we arrived. The site has a nice creek view. The mosquitoes were bad, the grass was high and weedy. The pad is asphalt with gravel patio. Partial shade. It was real quiet on Thursday pretty quiet on Friday. Then on Saturday and we were in A loop lots of folks come to bank fish and one had his German Shepherd roaming no leash and was nose to nose with our little dog properly on a chain at our site. One close camper had some kind of large dinner with tons of cars parked which I thought was unsafe for the kids on bikes. There is only one dump station. Our site had water and electricity. Nice to have water but still have to be conservative without the full hook up. Nowhere for it to go. Fishing here was pretty nonexistent. It was one hot October weekend. Bank fisherman don't bother to take their trash with them. Saw trash bag thrown on ground at the pavilion. There was no host Thursday when we arrived, glad our tent camper problem had been dealt with by our friend before we got here. There was no help to be found. We called the phone number, got answering machine. - AR Traveller
Oct 2018 - $10.00
The B loop is 50 amp and forested. The A loop is 30 amp and has water views. All sites had water; none had sewer. Most sites at B loop were excessively out of level. Our front jacks were fully extended and we were still not level. There is a nice hike/bike loop through and around the campground. - Wandering With Us

Arrived around 5pm after driving in 7 hrs of rain. Rang the "evening" bell, lady came right out, and proceeded to explain the area, grounds, cable booster deposit. then, altho still raining, drove her golf cart directly to our site, helped us get aligned, said if any problems the ph #'s were on our paperwork. Due to all the rain, we had to put a length of 2X8 in front of the tower to safely access the outlets, but the actual gravel pad was fine, level & mostly dry. once all hooked up & operational, hooked up the cable booster, hoping to watch the Redsox kick butt, but could not get the booster to work, tv showed "call 1-800-bla-bla". so figured cable was out due to the heavy rains, but since we had the office #, decided to just ask. The lady said, now dig this, "wait a couple minutes, ill send someone down and get you working". Was she serious? Its past 8pm, sat nite, raining, and shes sending someone??? true enuff, a man came down, showed me we simply need to shut (our) cable booster off (sumthing i didnt know about as we're only 1st year rv'ers), and the cable worked perfectly. We were so grateful (and kinda embarrassed) that we didnt think to give him a tip, altho next day we did a little sumthing for them. next day we did laundry, clean, adequate, (bring 1/4's), trash barrels easy access, and we were off. We have been learning new things about our rv each stop, from NC, to Lake Tahoe (north route) and back to NC (thru az, texas, etc), but wont forget the folks at Park Ridge!! - mike & rosie johnson

We stayed here for 3 nights at this lovely park. The spaces side-by-side were close, but long enough for our 37 ft. motorhome and towed vehicle. Plenty of nice shade trees in most of the spaces, which were not numbered. Our space was level on gravel with grass between. Shared 30 and 50 amp available, water good pressure and dump was not bad. I did not use the laundry, because there was only one working washer and unsure of the 4 dryers. The room was dirty and unacceptable to use. However, the ladies bathrooms (2) were individual and clean with shower, toilet and sink. We enjoyed our stay here and the lady in the office was very helpful and pleasant. Some of the spaces were tight to get into with many trees between, but do-able. Will stay here again next time we come to Van Buren. - We3Travel
May 2018 - $35.00
Due to a breakdown enroute, we had a reservation, cancelled it, and re-instated it. We got the last 50a site available, paying in the office on arrival at 5:15pm. $35 a night for the weekly rate with Good Sam discount seems a bit on the high side, but it is what is it. We had a nice pull through site under the trees with plenty of toad parking, but impossible to get our satellite TV. A cable box was available with a $70 deposit, but that would only serve one of our TVs so we passed, getting by on about 18 local OTA channels. Be sure you use a water pressure gauge as mine indicated 112psi. Sewer fittings are slip-in and the neighbor's overflowed when I dumped my tanks. We had a peaceful week there and will stay again to visit family. - AFChap

This is a bare bones over night type park. If self contained it is adequate for stays as long as desired for other outside activities. The park is strictly for travelers or workers. It is not family oriented but is pet friendly. Payment is cash only, and they will accept checks from travelers. WiFi is not great, but available most of the time. - Oddyssey
Aug 2016 - $27.00
Sites are gravel (very little in some sites) and are not level. Hookups are at back of site so we were unable to leave our tow vehicle hooked up. CG is very close to I-40 and there is a lot of noise. This CG is convenient for a 1 night stay but I would not like to be here for more than overnight. Tow vehicle had to be parked in front of our motor home. - Grammy8
Jun 2016 - $29.00
We stayed here on our way home. The lots are angled, making it easy for us to get into. There was quite a bit of highway noise. The lots are long and they have Wi-Fi, but it was spotty. The bathrooms were tidy, and we had phone service. We enjoyed our stay, but we will probably find one a little further from the highway to avoid the noise next time. - lougreene67

Shouldn't have resort in the name at all. Paved roads, pot holes, sites arent big, but pull thru's are, was made for motor homes. No picnic table; in this resorts sites are really narrow. No pad in this resort. Oh yes this resort has a splash pad. Fishing rent a bike rent a fishing pole. - JustDon
Aug 2016 - $13.00
The office people and grounds people are all very nice and accommodating. The grounds, garbage pickup, etc. are all very well maintained. As mentioned in other reviews, the road into the park as well as the sites are narrow, but are paved. Trees are at almost every site, but I could not open my awning because the tree was in the way. Someone did not take awnings into consideration when planting the trees. It is quiet, with horses and buffaloes in the adjoining pasture. Fishing is available from two docks. There are a few fire pits located next to the lake. There are also picnic tables at the pavilion and at some of the sites. If your site doesn't have a table, you could probably ask that one be moved to it from the pavilion, but not sure. They are in the process of adding a splash pad for kids. Bikes and kayaks are available for rent. If you come in after dark, the entry from highway 59 is very hard to see. There is a sign that can be seen, but the entry is hard to see. There are reflectors, but they don't help much. I would suggest arriving before dark. I would definitely stay here again, because it is a beautiful park with lots of area to walk, bike, etc. I just wish the sites were larger. If you get one of the four pull through sites, you'll be okay. Otherwise you may be a little cramped if the park fills up. However, there is ample additional parking. Showers and restrooms available as well. - DoubleT
Apr 2016 - $13.00
Nice quiet small campground. Blacktop roads and sites are very narrow. We chose one of the pull through sites to make it easier. nice and dark at night. Buffalos are in a field next to the campground. 50a, water and sewer all worked as did the rooftop dish, no trees. Verizon cell and hotspot worked well. Staff was very friendly and helpful, nice gift shop. Price was passport America. - big greg

Aug 2016 - $19.00
From a big rig perspective only; I have a 42' tag. Low hanging branches on narrow paths in the park were a problem. This is more a 5th wheel, tow trailer type of park and I would not recommend it for most Class A units, especially 40' or longer. Also, unless you have a portable satellite, satellite is not usable in this park. Verizon, AT&T work OK but the park WiFi was better and pretty good.
The park itself is not a bad place. A little noise from Highway 59 but not so bad. Nice pines, quiet. I had to smile some because their park rules state you must keep your site clean, yet, there were many permanent/long term campers that kept their sites anything but clean and uncluttered.
I would return with a different rig but not with the big rig. - R_R PRanger
May 2015 - $19.00
We would of liked it better if the restrooms didnt have mold in them. We stayed there because our son lived close by and we were traveling through and wanted to visit. The price was good with the PA discount . The sights were level they were concrete strips. We would stay again if we had too. - cindy coffey
Apr 2015 - $19.00
This is an old, tree covered park, but well maintained except for fallen leaves, and picnic tables need paint. Some full-timers with typical outside storage items. Gravel roads with adequate travel width and high-branched trees. An eclectic mix of gravel, paved and concrete pads, all level. There are four short-term 30 amp pull-thrus with double-strip concrete pads; the three short-term 50 amp pull-thrus were gravel. It rained every day and night, but the roads and pads, with a few low spot exceptions, drained well leaving the surfaces useable. Utilities were serviceable; antenna TV reception was excellent. AT&T cell was adequate; park internet was adequate for web surfing when others were not using it. The indoor pool is available only in the summer. Some road noise, but quiet at night. Excellent value with PA. Would return. - LoneWolf

Good overnight stay. We have dogs and look for green space for them to get some off leash exercise. Our campsite was ample for us and overlooked the lake. Quiet and only 4 other campers. One section is older and it was obvious many had bottomed out their trailers entering so beware. We stayed at the first loop as you go in and entrance was fine. Site was level. Electric and water. Camp host was not manning station and came around to collect. Half price for Senior national park pass. - busyteach
May 2008 - $7.00
Very nice, this is a COE campground, regular price is $15. but with golden age card get it for $7.50, sites are right on lake, but campground is hard to find and signs are not good, but worth it once you get there, will say again - jim1

Jun 2015 - $27.00
This park is a gravel parking lot with very tight spots. The basic rate is $25 but for 50 Amps, the rate is $27. The 50 amp breaker continually tripped in site 30. Management knew it but would not fix it. I was stuck here for four days while the temperature climbed to nearly 100 degrees in my RV. Do not rely on the attached RV dealership. They did repairs on my 5th wheel hitch and the new parts fell out while I was driving to get fuel. I got back to the park and could not hook up to the 5th wheel pin. I won't be back. - KD7UCH
Apr 2015 - $25.00
This is a fairly clean park with continuous distant traffic noise and some train noise.
Sites are dirt and gravel, narrow, mostly not level, in various lengths, without shade. Not all sites have sewer connections, 50 amps, or cable. Voltage is good.
Roads are dirt and gravel, in good condition.
Staff and hosts are friendly and helpful, but can be hard to find.
WiFi is strong. One afternoon I measured 653.6 kB/s down; by evening it was very slow.
Verizon LTE works well.
Showers are clean but lack privacy.
Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.25), 2 dryers ($1 for 46 min).
Rate is total with Good Sam. - wjzcbn
Mar 2015 - $25.00
As stated by others, this is really a parking lot for the RV servicing & sales company. It is okay for an over night stay. Others have stated their site was level. Number 25 was not. Big rigs beware. I witnessed a rather large fifth wheel nearly slip into the creek that runs threw the camp grounds. The wheels dipped into a wash that had cut into the gravel roadway. Our entrance door was just 5 feet from our neighbor's full hook up drop. We were 7 feet from his unit. Staff personnel were nice and helpful. The park is pet friendly. Many "sites" appeared to be homesteading or had just dropped as a storage place. Value wise, at $25, was acceptable for clean bathroom and showers. - Laptop Willie

Nov 2018 - $40.00
Office personnel was friendly and knew the area. Gave us a lot of great ideas for things to see. This is a family oriented park. Very quick and easy check in process and the hookup went quickly without any issues. The roads in the park were gravel. Site was gravel and dirt. Had a lot of rain during our visit and had lots of mud around unit. Mostly level. Many big beautiful trees but was still satellite friendly. Had cable TV but we didn't use it. Picked up 15 OTA channels. Wi-Fi was fair most of the time. Verizon worked well. Nice dog park. Nice playground that was well taken care of. lots of equipment. Basketball and volleyball courts. Showers and Rest rooms were neat and clean. Laundry room was neat and clean. Washer $1.75. Dryer $1.25. Picnic table needed some repair. Fire ring. Pool was closed for the season. Will definitely stay here again. - Roamer on wheels
Oct 2018 - $40.00
Only an overnight stay but very nice campground with friendly staff. Long, wide, site with enough room to stay hooked. Pool was open later in the season due to warm weather. Didn't use it but many people did. Attractive landscaping around the office. Trees and grass at sites. - lce3
Oct 2018 - $45.00
Average KOA. Sites spaced apart alright with packed dirt surfaces and grass between sites but park overall lacked appeal. There was shade. The staff members were pleasant and helpful. We had to exit the park and turn around in a parking lot nearby to re- enter to the propane filling station near the office. The dog park was ok with lots of leaves and shade. A little muddy. Convenient one night stay. - Andrea W
