Very beautiful urban park. Despite the location, it’s pretty quiet with only a light roar of traffic sounds from the outside. The sites are generously spaced, but the park has a very disorganized layout. It took two circuits around before we found our site. The access road is a bit narrow and it took a bit of maneuvering to back into our space. This is a very convenient place to stay to visit Toronto, albeit at a premium price. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We arrived Friday afternoon at this nice campground located at the eastern edge of Toronto, on Kingston road just off the 401. The campground is managed by the City of Toronto Conservation Authority. We had site #7 which was a grassy mostly level spot, lots of shade trees, with water and 30 Amp service, with dump station is located at the front entrance. We never used the showers or washrooms so I can't tell you about them. There are only two things about this campground that I didn't like one was the location of the dump station, which is on the round-a-bout at the entrance. The road can be blocked by large rigs for anyone entering the park and the second thing I didn't like was the single lane down hill road to the camp sites. The road is curved and you can't tell if someone is coming in the opposite direction until it's too late. I was cut off by a fifth wheel and ended up with a deep scrape on the side of my motor home from the guard rail. I was not impressed. I won't let this stop me from staying there again, but I will be more careful and have my wife walk down to the curve in the road first, to look for oncoming traffic. Although the camp site was nice and spacious, I gave it an average rating, because of these two issues. Good access to any campground is important to me. At Glen Rouge, you have to hope there is no one coming the other way, when you are entering or leaving. If there is and you meet up with them on this narrow roadway this is bad, because if you tow 4 down, like we do, you can't back up. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Came from Ohio and stayed a week. Restrooms were always clean. Workers walked around in the mornings picking up dog doo and whatever else was on the ground. Only complaint we had was that there needs to be a bench in the shower area. Nothing to sit items on other than a few hooks in the shower stall. Met some really nice campers. Sites were big. Would definitely stay again and recommend the park. Had a fellow camper get their rig stuck on our site driving thru it to get to their site. Long story but the park called us to tell us that. We were on our way back to the site when they called us. Very friendly and helpful employees. Can't say enough about our experience. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Tent Trailer.

Located in Toronto, this campsite is a hidden gem. Just making the transition from the Toronto Region Conservation Authority to Parks Canada. This campsite has 30 amp service with water and a number of tent sites that are not serviced. Make sure you have a water pressure regulator, the water pressure is quite high and blew out my hot water tank regulator. Most sites have some shade. Parks Canada has changed the rules, and if you have a trailer or an RV you are not allowed a dining shelter. Located between Pickering and Toronto, is close to Toronto Transit, Durham Regional Transit and the GO Transit system. Close to grocery stores (Metro, Farm Boy, No Frills), Canadian Tire and Wal Mart for camping/RV supplies. Lots of stuff to do in Toronto and the easiest way to get downtown is by the GO Train. that you can get a Rouge Hill Station. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Best thing about this campground is the proximity to Toronto. We stayed here while visiting the city. Be aware, there is no sewer or water. Most sites seemed very level and all sites were spacious. Unfortunately, our site was all mud with very little grass. Outhouses were what you would expect. Shower house was dirty. I would stay here only while visiting Toronto. The campground is a nice place to park the RV while visiting Toronto attractions. Not much else. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

My husband and I stayed at Glen Rouge for two nights at the end of September. We chose the campground due to its proximity to downtown Toronto. On the plus side, it was just a short drive to the train station. We took the train downtown which was super convenient (driving and finding a parking space didn't sound like much fun!). Also, there were hiking trails we and our dog enjoyed. One the negative side, there was really no privacy at our campsite, no trees or shrubs between sites. We stayed in a pull thru site, and had enough room for our motor home and our car. As others have stated, the campground can get muddy in the rain! Thankfully it didn't rain while we were there, but there was a huge muddy rut right in front of the door to our motor home. We didn't use the restrooms so we can't attest to that. For me the biggest negative is the campground is right next to a very busy expressway. So there is the constant drone of traffic 24 hours a day. Also, excessive water pressure blew out our line, which has never happened in our 14 plus years of rv-ing. Thankfully my husband is handy and was able to find a store that carried the parts that we needed so he could fix it. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If visiting downtown Toronto, be sure to take the train rather than drive! Train station is less than a 10 minute drive from the campground. Drops you off at Union Station, super easy to navigate and a great bargain!

We stayed for a week and it is one of the worst places we visited. Constant loud music and several construction and "homeless" people who sit, smoke and drink all day long. They get really loud until 1am. Park itself is nice. It's about 40 minutes without traffic (about an hour and 30 minutes during rush hour) to Toronto. Roads are narrow and some trees are really low so, if you drive a class A, watch out. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The cost of $41 is Canadian $ and also had a $10 reservation fee - sites were on grass and packed earth. I think if the weather had been poor it may have been very muddy as there was a large patch of soil near our door; possibly from someone using a mat or from a tent groundsheet. Hard to navigate and find the site numbers - we drove round a couple of times to work it out. On the sites 2 rigs/tents - shared power poles and so some people needed extension leads etc. Our site had some tree coverage and shade with was nice - grass was cut regularly and everywhere was pretty tidy. Fire pits are basically a hollow in the ground without any side protection - tricky if you have children and in the dark you need to be careful not to stumble into them. I didn't use the shower but bathrooms were clean and tidy considering how many people used them. Take care on a night if using them as there were a few raccoons on the pathways. Wifi was strong enough for our needs, we didn't try OTA TV or satellite. We stayed a few nights as we were visiting with family in the TO area. Noise didn't carry from the main roads and the camp itself was quiet while we were there. There is an extra charge for visitors and their cars are parked quite a long way from your site. Overall a nice campground and if it had sewer and a laundry it would score much higher. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is on the very eastern edge of Toronto and the price per night is in Cdn $ without the $10 reservation fee or tax (13%). Having travelled from Waterloo, ON this place was pretty easy to find, located a short distance from the 401 at the bottom of a slight dip in the Kingston Road. Signage from the street isn't great but out GPS took us straight in. Check-in was simple but I didn't get any map of the CG and drove in using memory from when I'd made a reservation. Despite the proximity to the highway, noise is buffered by the trees and barely noticeable. The interior road signs could do with improvement because shortly after entering the park the single lane in/out road splits in to three separate roads without any indication about what sites are on which road. The interior roads are paved and do go around in a series of loops. The site was very long and big enough for our 40' 5er and truck. It also appeared to be quite wide but that may be because we had nothing parked next to us in the adjacent two sites for the duration of our stay. The site was grass and dirt (where someone had previously had a carpet for an extended time killing the grass). We had a picnic table and fire pit. Water pressure was good as was the 30 amp power we had. There are no sewer sites here which is a let down and meant I had to go out and buy a waste water tote to empty the grey tanks on the rig. There is only one set of CG washrooms that are cleaned but due to the volume of people using them, soon began to look untidy. What you don't see from their map is these are located atop of a hill about 30' above the CG level. There is a steep path or set of stairs to access these but for those in a wheelchair or other medical condition it could be very challenging to reach. Wi-Fi was good and is included in the price. There are lots of trees that provide good shade and a habitat for wildlife. Raccoons are prevalent so ensure everything is secured overnight. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Canadian rate is $41 with a 1.3:1 exchange rate. Difficult to find using GPS kept trying to take us to the park not the campground. Campground is located in a ravine that's the reason for no sewer on sites. Bathroom and shower located 10 meters up the hill. 50/30/20 amp electric and water. Limited number of 50 amp sites. Fire pit was a hole in the ground. Picnic table was in bad condition. No cable, 15 OTA TV channels. Verizon (Bell) service marginal 4G. Campground is a grassy field with unspecified camp locations just a post indicating campsite number. Wife says the women's showers were nasty, men's were okay. Pump station is located on the circle next to the registration office, awkward. Ice and firewood available. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very natural park; so many trees, all grass pads, little roads through the park, lots of trails for hiking, hills all around, the river runs right along the edge of the campground. The service was excellent. There were workers checking out campsites throughout the day and cleaning as needed, etc. The only improvement they could make is to have sewer hookups for long term campers. I highly recommend this park. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

If you don't have a car or don't want to use your car (the traffic is awful in Toronto), you will have an uphill hike of about 1 km to the bus stops. Once on the buses, though, you can get to the train stations and go anywhere within 4 hours of Toronto in almost any direction.

We had a 30 amp site for a couple of nights while we explored Toronto. I really like the setting of this campground and the sites were level. Bathrooms were clean...showers not so much. This is THE park to be at to explore Toronto as others have said and we second the advice to get a GO train ticket into town. Much easier than trying to negotiate the interconnecting buses. Plenty of parking at the station about 2 miles away. Lack of amenities keeps me from rating this park higher but we would come here again if visiting the city. This is a very nice campground in the middle of a city. Green grass and beautiful trees. It stays quiet so you can hear the birds chirping. Off season it would be an oasis. During season it is filled with locals enjoying the time outside with their families. Sites are level, but the placement of the electric and water can be a challenge at some sites. The poles are shared by 2 sites, so come prepared with extensions if needed. The sites do not have defining boundaries, so everyone just settles were they can to reach the utilities. The dump station is located at the entrance check-in kiosk in a small circle. It appears the park is allowing seasonal stays, and a few of those sites and trailers are not kept up very well, hopefully the park will keep an eye on allowing this, it could ruin the park. The wi-fi was adequate, sprint phone worked well on the Rogers network. Room to walk the pup. Fire pits are dug into the ground. This is the closest place to stay to visit the sites in Toronto. We would stay here again. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

At check-in you are given print outs helping with locations of laundromats in town, restaurants, location and times of transportation. The Go Train line parking and terminal is 2-3 miles away. Very convenient, 30 minutes to get to downtown Union Station. The Toronto traffic can be very busy at all times and parking is expensive. If you are able I would suggest taking the Go Train and buses and subways.

We paid $38.50 CDN plus 13% tax plus $10 CDN reservation fee. Converting $1 CDN to 75 cents USD. Online reservation system was easy to use but carefully read the site description as to 30amp vs 50amp. Check in was friendly and efficient. We had site #6 which was 50amp with water. No sewer. The dump station is in a quirky place near the check-in kiosk and not designed for big rigs. You could probably use it with a big rig but would likely be blocking the entrance for others. Fortunately we didn't have to use it. We did use the showers which are generally clean but dated with an annoying button that needs to be pressed every few seconds and you can't re-push the button until the water turns off. The park had intermittent 50amp issues for the first two days but got it fixed. They also had wifi issues which were never resolved during our 5 day stay. Verizon cell signal was ok. Verizon data is slow when roaming. We were able to obtain a DirecTV signal in spite of the trees. Interior roads could use some tree trimming and are a bit tight for a 40' rig but do-able. We unhooked our toad in the large parking area before going through the entrance and re-hooked in the same place when leaving. Having said all that, it is a beautiful park and other reviewers have described it well. There is lots of green grass and trees with pretty birds and a family of black squirrels. We didn't notice any road noise. It's nice to be secluded in this setting while having conveniences such as Walmart, Home Depot and transit just a few miles away. If we returned to the Toronto area, we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Motorhome.

CG is quick on/off the 401. GoTrain station is 10 minute drive from CG. Train system is easy to use. Locals are happy to help if you need assistance. From Union Station, you can walk everywhere. We enjoyed a walking tour of the St. Lawrence Market with Culinary Adventure. Instead of spending a fortune to go up CN Tower, we were advised to have a drink at Canoe Restaurant (located on 54th floor at 66 Wellington Street) which was great advice.

This was my second stay this year. Really like this campground - its so convenient and multi-cultural. Pros: close to Toronto activities and attractions; good shopping; bus at road; very safe; park itself is quiet; some internet; clean; pleasant and helpful staff. Sites are large and grassed with tons of old trees; a walking trail on the other side of the small river; dog park close by; Starbucks in both directions! Plenty of diesel stations. CONS: Fairly expensive; traffic noise at night; no septic - need to dump at station; internet is good if you want to get on facebook. can't even get emails, most websites are blocked! Used showers twice and both times the water was cold. No senior or other discounts offered. We camped at Glen Rouge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Toronto has a wealth of attractions; the zoo (excellent and large) is close by. Farm Boy to the left on Kingston road is an excellent grocery with organic and vegan/veggie selections and hot bar. Just past the Pickering mall is the farmers market. Two enclosed dog parks within 8km (about 5 miles). Watch out for poison ivy and other toxic plants off the trails, and off-leash dogs.
