very nice county park overlooking a reservoir. Full hookups, paved pads, lots of space between sites. Sits on a hill about 15 minutes from I-5. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The roads are easy to get around on, sites are paved with a fire pit and picnic table. We had to use 3" pads, plus air bag lift to get level and it seemed to be the same in a lot of the the sites. The sewer hook up is at the very back of the site and we need an extension hose to reach connection. If we could have backed up another 2'-3' it would have been fine. Verizon phone and Mifi work great. Bathrooms and showers were pretty clean if you got there right after they cleaned the bathrooms. With just one set of showers for the whole rv campground it doesn't take long for them to move to mouse size hair balls in the drains. We were there in the 1st week of October and the the place was filling up mid week. Reservations can only be made 2 weeks prior to your intended stay. This is a nice quiet park without too much extraneous lighting shining in your windows. As someone mentioned before, the yellow star thistle with nasty 1/2 thorns, are endemic to the campground. This is not the place to run around barefoot through the grass. We stay here again if we're in the area. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were looking for a quick, inexpensive place to stop in the general area that was not right on I-5. We're self-contained in our 25 foot MH and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on a weeknight in early October. Emigrant Lake Rec Area actually has 2 CGs. Oak Slope includes primitive sites while The Point includes full hookups. We stayed at Oak Slope. The campsites are nicely arrayed on 3 loops and tiered so that most have nice views and privacy. The sites are generously sized although the paved parking pads tend to be long and narrow so good for tents and smaller RVs. There are trees throughout providing shade and privacy. The rest rooms are clean with flush toilets and hot showers. There're good ATT and Verizon cell signals. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this rv park twice in the last year. This is one of our favorite parks to stay at in the southern Oregon area. Just about every view is wonderful, the park is nice and quiet, but it is close enough to civilization if you need something. We enjoy coming to this park also because the camp ground hosts are always nice and helpful. They told us about one of our dogs barking. But they handled it in a calm and professional manner and we were more than happy to address the issue so that our dog was safe, but not bothering other campers they way she had been. We look forward to returning here again around the holidays. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

One of my favorite campgrounds. Not too far off I-5, but far enough to be quiet. Nice view of the lake from all sites. The rowing team from the nearby college practices in the morning, so get up and watch. If you are here in summer and prefer quiet, I highly recommend one of the higher sites that are on the second row back from the lake. They are farther apart and seem to be quieter--most big family groups prefer the sites down on the point, which means a lot more noise. Another bonus to higher sites is a stronger breeze, which helps to cool things off. Good view also. All sites in this recreation area are full-hookup, which is a nice bonus for the price. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

First, if you have a dog, especially a large one, don't stay here. The grassy areas are full of 3/4-inch prickly burrs that easily get embedded in your dogs paws. We would have to yank them out after each dog walk. If you don't get them ALL out, they can easily infect your dog's paws -- which happened to our pooch. Besides that, it's a great park. Seriously, if you don't have a dog, then this county park is a great bargain. You (and your pet) can swim in the lake, and nearby Ashland is a quirky university town with lots of places to eat. 32 RV sites with power/water/sewer, almost all back-in but plenty long. Reservations are not accepted within 2 weeks of your stay, but the county park reservation clerk, when called, will let you know if/how many sites are unreserved at the moment, if you are arriving that day. Without a reservation, drive around checking displayed reservation slips at each site to find one not reserved for the duration of your stay. When driving in, continue past the Oak Slope no-hookups campground entrance (on left) to "The Point" campground. Quiet location, with no OTA TV or wifi, but excellent Verizon bandwidth. When we were there, the lake was *very* low (well below the end of the boat launch) but there was still a rowing club practicing at sunrise and sunset every day. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Ashland is OK for walking around, with some nice shops. Weisinger Family Winery, south of downtown, has enjoyable wines and a pleasant dog-friendly shaded patio looking to the eastern hills, if you enjoy visiting wine tasting rooms. There are a couple other tasting rooms east of I-5 that were either closed or not dog-friendly. And plenty more further north on I-5.

We have stayed at this park several times this year and find it very delightful. The only drawback is that there is no wifi, but knowing that ahead of time, we can make alternate arrangements. Park is clean and quiet and a great place for boating. We don't have a boat, but the sites at the campground allow you to have excellent views of all the lake activities. I love being able to stay in County and State Parks. They almost always are clean, cheap and oftentimes have something lovely to see. Sometimes they are quite difficult to get in to, but Emigrant Lake wasn't difficult at all - mostly due to the fires in Southern Oregon and Northern California. Which made the air quality around Ashland - well, horrible. That was the only sour note here and nothing to do with the park. We would have been able to walk to the lake's edge almost from our site if the water levels were at normal. But with the air being awful, we weren't up for that anyway. Of course the day we left, we saw some blue skies and puffy clouds. Used the shower facilities - very clean. The camp host lives at the entrance to the park and she was very relaxed - we found a card with our name and dates right on it when we made it to our site, so you can say that their computer system works great, as I booked online. The Lake is very multi-use, and we did see hardy souls fishing and boating, but the nearby kids areas were empty and the RV Park was fairly sparse, when normally this time of year it would be at capacity. We'd love to return during cooler weather, but before the winter. Let's just say - NOT in fire season! We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Of course, the Shakespeare Festival! We saw a wonderful play but were moved from the open air site to the local high school (due to the bad air), but still the production was great for the money. We also toured around and walked around the downtown district. Lithia Park is nearby and lovely, and we had an early dinner at Martino's which is just adjacent to the Shakespeare Festival grounds.

Due to the nearby fires, business was way down in the town which survives on tourism and the lake itself was quite low . . . maybe at near historic low levels.

Great park for water sports, visiting for the Shakespeare festival, or just generally exploring the Ashland area. The way the sites are angled, you're looking at the lake instead of your neighbor. Verizon was insanely fast (up to 40 Mbps). Did not try ATT. Pretty much all of the sites are great, but #5 is the best as you're broadside to the water, even though it's next to the dumpsters. Here for a very hot weekend. Most of all the camping areas seemed full, many jet skis, boats, paddle boarders and swimmers out on the lake. Trash bins overflowing everywhere. Like others have said there are burs EVERYWHERE, so be prepared to extract them from your pets. Sewer connection was a bit odd and required a makeshift bridge in order to get proper angle. The reservation website doesn't list how long the sites are, so you may want to call. Ours (14) just about fit our 36' MH. Their website also doesn't (as far as I know) list that they have handicap site(s). The one next to us (13) was one of those and was vacant all weekend. It had more asphalt which went around the picnic table and fire pit, whereas other sites had dirt/weeds. You might have a challenge hooking up and unhooking a tow vehicle as there is very little room anywhere for this. Possibly at the playground parking area, boat launch parking area, or dump station if unoccupied. Oh, and I hope you like communal camping....on two different occasions we stepped out of the MH and found different people sitting at our picnic table looking at the lake. Their greeting was 'You don't mind us sitting here, do you?' Yeesh, manners. Never saw the hosts or the parks dept folks. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a full hookup park that is part of Jackson County parks. You will pass their non-hookup park, Oak Slope Campground, on your way in. Loops and sites are paved with excellent views of the lake and mountains. It's a scenic area. Sites are nearby but well laid out. We stayed here one night in late January while traveling down I-5. We did not have reservations, but it was wide open this time of the year. There were only 3 other campers. It is 6 miles from exit 14. Do not use exit 6 because it is narrow and winding. Other than the lake I'm not sure what other activities are available since we were here for one night in the off season. Site #21 is at a point on the end with outstanding views. #19 has good views. Really any of the sites on the lake side have decent views. That's 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21. Sites 3, 6, 7 are on the other side of the loop road. There is an upper level loop road (26 through 32). If the campground were full, it's unclear how much you'd see the lake vs. the roofs of RVs in the lower loop. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a state park and was such an excellent value for $30 a nite full hookup. I didn't have a reservation, but there were many cancellations and open spots (likely due to the wildfires and excessive heat). The views of the lake were wonderful, even with only mile visibility from the distant wildfire smoke. My dogs and I could walk a long asphalt loop several times a day for good exercise. We tried a trail leading from the end of the campground, but the sticker-laden ground cover made it miserable for the smaller dogs. The "beach" near the campground had a kind of 1" burr everywhere resulting in carrying the dogs out of the plant zone back to the rocks--so not good for dogs. But kayakers and canoers seemed very happy. The bathroom shower were great. Spacious, private, copious hotwater, well-lit. If only other (private) parks could model these. The power was good, no surging even with everyone using AC because of heat (100+) The camp hosts were friendly as was the gate guard. I'm a californian who is so impressed with my first taste of OR state parks! Can't wait to come back when the smoke dies down and one can see the surrounding hills. Reservation system leaves a lot to be desired. Called for reservations and provided type of camper, length, etc. Upon arrival discovered they us in tent area instead of RV area. After several calls they found a spot for us. Whole time we were there constantly seen tents in RV spots. Someone needs to improve reservation system. No grass just burrs and stickers. Would only return if last resort. We camped at Emigrant Lake - The Point RV Park in a Motorhome.
