Mushy from recent downpour. Sat didn't work, but saw neighbors with sat set up. Much more like camping than rving. Excellent beach access to dog friendly beach. 4g in campsite. Will stay again. We camped at Bastendorff Beach County Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The actual rate was $20.36 winter rates. The reservation system is off line during the winter except for cabins. This is another you pay for what you get park. The bathrooms and showers were clean. However the showers have some supply issues. I checked 2 different shower rooms and the both had the same problem. Each shower room has 2 showers. One shower has pretty good pressure and the push button stays on about 40 seconds. The other shower has dribble and you have to push the button about every 15 seconds. Most of the loops are in trees with marginal drainage (it rained a lot) with paved pads and some are pretty flat others not so much. Loop D is the loop of choice. It is out of the trees and most of the sites are out in the open the down side is they are not very private. The roads are rough pavement. Verizion MiFi worked fine. Be sure and lock up you cars, RV's doors and compartments. There were at least 3 thefts out of vehicles that were left open when we stayed there. If we're back in the area we'd probably stay here again, reluctantly. We camped at Bastendorff Beach County Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to Cape Arago, Sunset Beach, and Charleston. Cape Arago is a great wave watching place when the big ones are rolling in.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful county park with water and electric, (dump station on site). Dog friendly beach access is just a short two block drive or walk. Lots of shade from large trees and each site is surrounded by foliage which give some privacy. Don't miss going into the fishing town of Charleston for fresh and fresh canned seafood. We camped at Bastendorff Beach County Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Since it was after October 1, the rate had dropped to $15. We stayed in the open group camping area at the top of the hill. It was great for satellite reception but there was a strong storm one night and the wind really blew up there. The bathroom/showers in the group camping area were modern, spotless, large, and private. There is now a very strong Verizon Extended Network signal in the park. We camped at Bastendorff Beach County Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This county park has 56 RV sites with water and 30 amp power, plus 35 tent sites. There are a couple of pull-through sites, but they are in the group camping area. We use the group camping area (available if no groups have reserved all the sites there) most of the time we stay at Bastendorff because they are on the top of the hill with no trees, so there is good satellite reception. These sites are huge. The other RV sites are big enough for any rig and are surrounded by trees, giving excellent privacy. The central dump station is convenient to use. There is lots of area for hiking in the woods. The beach is not within walking distance. There is a big playground for kids. There is no Verizon cell service in the campground, but there is just down the road (Extended Network area). This is our favorite park in the Coos Bay area. We camped at Bastendorff Beach County Park in a Motorhome.
