Overall Rating:

Roughly 72 hours before The Eclipse, there are no campgrounds in the vicinity except for this spot. This isn't really a campground. It's a gravel area at the end of a 3 block "downtown" in quaint, tiny, Echo, Oregon. Sites 8 and 9 are a gravel pull-over on a single lane, paved alley, next to someone's double-wide. The pedestals are side-by-side and the gravel area is about 60-70 feet long. Once I put in my 40' fiver and 22' truck, I took up both spaces. Good 50A with good water. Safety: Seemed quiet but we double locked our bikes, anyway. Access: Exit 188, head south (away from the Pilot-J) to 10th street (the only stop sign), turn right. Over the railroad tracks, through town and turn left before the bridge. Poor signage, Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: There is no office - pay the Camp Host or use pay station. Credit cards NOT accepted (cash or checks). Online reservations NOT available. No price discounts. Facilities: There is a restroom/shower mini-building (get key from Camp Host) but the outside was not inviting and we didn't use. There's a small river nearby but no signs of flooding. No storm shelter. Big rig and long coach challenging. Prevosts shouldn't even bother. No sewer - use dump station. Dump station access designed for 24' travel trailers. No room for big rigs to maneuver. No patios or picnic tables. Fires not permitted. Poor satellite views. No cable TV. No Wi-Fi. Verizon phone and 4G at 3 bars. City recycle bins 1 block away. Noise: Railroad (not that bad), no aircraft, no local traffic or interstate noise. Bug Report (mid August): no insects noted. Runners: Use the sidewalk on Main street. Yoga: No place to put your mat. Conclusion: Score 3-Poor. We camped at Fort Henrietta Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive to Stanfield, OR for local restaurants, diesel ($2.499). Only national restaurant is Dennys. Home Depot, Autozone, O'Reillys, a few fast food eateries. Groceries at Walmart and Safeway. Movie theater. RV sales and service on US-395. Shari's restaurant is recommended; loved the eggs benedict with "stuffed" hashbrowns and they serve Mimosas.
