When we originally booked our stay there were no FHU sites available. We booked a water and electric only site. Upon arrival, the park employee helped us modify the reservation to two nights in a full hook up (site 54) and three nights in water and electric only (site 69). This worked well and allowed us to run the laundry after a week of dry camping and boondocking. Both sites were good. 54 is close to your neighbors but has good tree cover. It's on the outer part of H loop. 69 was more open and in the inner part of the loop. The only "problem" we had was our neighboring tent camper who set up the tent less than three feet from our RV. It was still on his site but needed trees on our site to tie down. (Didn't ask either) Backing into site 69 took some finesse. The campground has gray water dump sites spaced along the loop. The one across from the site and the trees on the site required a back and forth reset to maneuver in. It would not be an issue with smaller RVs though. No AT&T cell service and campsite. Picked up a signal about a mile away. Several OTA TV Channels available. The dump station is located outside the campground. (It is accessible to the general public too). The non potable water connection is a cut hose without a connection. I could not use it with the Saniflush system in the RV. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location to explore the coast. Florence has a Safeway, Fred Meyer and Grocery Outlet. Nice historic area with restaurants, cafes, coffeehouse and bars. Heceta Lighthouse is about a 30 min drive north. Wasn't open for tours yet but could be soon. Cape Perpetua a few miles further north has great walking trails along the ocean. You can hike (moderate difficulty trail) or drive to the top of an overlook with a historic CCC built lookout. There is a visitors center too.

Very nice sites. More privacy than SP's usually offer. Quite a bit cooler in CG than surrounding area. No direct beach or Dune access. Lots of families/kids but fewer bikes than usual probably because of hilly terrain. Only downside was rest/shower rooms. Functional, but very old & tired. First time I've seen that in an Ore SP. Will definitely use park again if/when in the area. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss Old Town Florence. Especially on weekends. Parking limited but worth the hassle. Enjoyed Rosa's Mexican for lunch & Little Brown Hen for breakfast (little is operative word, but very busy). Florence has Fred Meyer & Safeway + most of what you could need. South Jetty Rd is a long drive to nowhere. Don't know about N Jetty.

It was a very wet and cool night when we stayed in a yurt. The yurt had both heat and electricity. It was very specific and could easily accommodate a family. The large clean restroom was nearby and never busy. When we were leaving in the morning we had trouble with the key box but rangers were driving by and they took care of the problem. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Cabin.

Overall Rating:

This was an enjoyable state park. It's in a deep shade evergreen forest next to dunes. We arrived without reservations. There were hookup sites available in April in the middle of the week. Loops E, F, G were closed. Loop H was full of ATV people. The ATV activity was not obtrusive when we were there. Our site was narrow on the patio side. If we wanted to put out the awning, we wouldn't have been able to. On the patio side we were close to the next site. There was thick vegetation for privacy. The table and fire ring were actually on the hookup side. It was a large area offering privacy. Loops and sites are paved. There are short trails to the dunes. It's unclear if you could walk to the ocean two miles away. Without defined trails, we did not attempt it. There is a pleasant trail that goes through woods part way around the lake to the day use area. We would stay in site 256 again. These sites looked good as well: 199, 236, 259, 270, 320. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Campground I visit years ago as kid, and needed to return. Dune is not as tall as it use to be by the lake, and swim area had changed like to with no diving board. Very little staff on hand, and you had to take notes of which site where reserved. The bathroom in my loop closed for some reason during my stay. You can tell the season is closing down, with many loops closed. Very helpful host at info hurt in my loop. The far end of campground is dedicated loop for ATV campers. Well thought out by the state, as they can only access the dunes for a 5 month period sure Fall/Winter. Good hike, and biking. Across highway are more trails, day use, and very large group sites. Site was level, and cell coverage ok. Was fun to trace my steps as a kid, all the way down to the site. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Spacious and conveniently located park. Run by staff and many friendly volunteers. Being able to hike out to sand dunes was fun. We did not go out in an ATV. The lakes all around provide great fishing, boating, swimming and hiking trails. Site was clean and campground seems well maintained. Sewer connection not at our site, but in other areas of the park. Dump site conveniently located. Close to Florence where there is an old town area with great restaurants and a variety of small shops. The campground was quiet with no bugs. We checked out the restrooms but did not use them. They appeared clean. Over air TV reception offered a wide variety of stations. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a state park so don't expect a resort. It is quiet, very wooded, lots of trails, lots of smoke from camp fires. As in most state campgrounds, there is no cable & no Wi Fi. We stayed in Loop B and booked online with Reserve America. Using their filters to choose what we wanted: we were told that our site (65) had 50 amp, water, sewer and partial shade. There was no sewer, only 30 amp & full shade. Luckily, we came with empty sewer tanks & it was cool (we had to run the heat) so we could deal with 30 amp. Even though we were told partial shade we didn't expect it. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

45 full hookups, 120 electrical $26 Site 066 This campground is one of the largest state parks in Oregon. There are seven loops all different sizes. Two loops H and F one can access the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area with ATVs. We were in loop B near the entrance and two of the lakes. There is another lake across the highway for day use as well as the one near the entrance. One can swim, fish and rent paddle boats and sand boards for sledding on the dunes. This is a very nice park and our site was huge and private. The tall trees in the B loop were stunning. Bathhouses all have showers. There are hiking trails around the park leading to the dunes, lakes and day use area. We arrived on a Saturday and there were many sites available but it was a misty day. Nice park with a little welcome center with exhibits and two nice hosts for information. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Oregon treats military special & my rate was reflective of that. Park is in the woods. I had full hookup site in H loop. All utilities worked as expected. Site was large & easy leveling. Roads were easy to navigate. Lots of trees, picnic table & fire ring. Sites a very large with trees & bushes between sites. Would stay here again. We camped at Jesse M. We stayed in an "old growth" forest site with electricity and water, which was beautiful. We ended up staying 5 days instead of 3 which was planned. Another great Oregon State Park. Like lots of state parks finding sites for our 34" motorhome can sometimes be a challenge, particularly heavily treed sites. With some searching found a good site and with some maneuvering around were able to get backed in and fit the tow. The 30 amp service and water worked fine. During the summer season reservations would be wise/necessary. Very nice park with lots to do and close to Florence with even more to do. Host and park rangers were excellent, including management's decision to discount the site because of 30 amp breaker problem we caused. We camped at Jesse M. Great campground! We opted for partial service (no sewer). Treed site - couldn't really see neighbours. Paved roads throughout park and paved parking area at each site.

Bathrooms were old but clean. Showers were at the end of building with separate entrances. We didn't use showers so cannot comment, but there was a handicap shower.

Staff at booth were excellent. We were told we could go find a site and come back and register. We took clerk's suggestion for a site, "but if you don't like it, come back and tell us which one you want." Very accommodating. Not sure it's like this in the height of summer!

Only negative was no wifi, but we knew that Oregon SPs do not offer it - maybe one day. Our cell service worked (from Canada). Not sure which US carrier.

We would definitely stay here again - it's a lovely spot and right in the Dunes Recreation Area. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

At time of writing, save monety and buy gas in Florence - we paid 2.19 @ Shell. Gas stations south and north of Florence were anywhere up to 2.79! Quite a savings.

Only at the park for 1 night, so did not "do" Florence, so cannot comment on what's there to see and do.

This is an excellent Oregon state park. The park staff is very friendly and knowledgable Sites are well situated to allow for privacy. Parking pads are level and fit our 40' motorhome and towed vehicle easily. This has many great hiking trails and a couple of very nice lakes for fishing and kayaking. There is also direct access to the Oregon dunes. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.
