We travel full time in our 40' 5th wheel, not pets, no kids so our needs may be much different than others. We look for parks that are "somewhat" Big Rig friendly, 30/50 amp service, FHU's if possible, with satellite and cell service. We spend the majority of our time outside the parks, hiking, kayaking and exploring, and do not use many of the amenities on site. With that in mind, my reviews/comments will be based on our needs..... Interior roads and sites are dirt and VERY dusty. Sites vary in size, and we had no problem finding a large enough site. Park is "somewhat" Big Rig friendly. No issues with trees or branches, and no problems maneuvering our 40' 5th wheel throughout the park. Cell Phone Coverage w/ AT&T is good. Very limited number of sites where you would be able to get satellite signal. This park is heavily forested, and I would recommend getting a sunny site. Very few sewer sites available, and as with most TT parks, it is First come, first served for site selection. Quiet park and very busy park due to its location. We would stay here again. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very old campground set deep in the woods. Obviously designed before RVs got big and had slides, there are few sites that would take a big rig, and maneuvering our 38' class A around the tight corners with trees and bushes at the edge was cause for concern. The sites are uneven and not very level. The whole place could use some gravel and re grading. Most sites are water and electric only and very few have 50 amp. Being next to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area this is a high demand park. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

While the location is nice and the larger trees are beautiful, this campground needs help. The rangers I met were rude and petty. Rather than trying to be helpful, they were authoritarian and imperious about petty issues. Many of the sites are in disrepair. The bathrooms are old and moldy. There are very few full hook up sites. The roads have holes larger than my tires. At least half the sites I saw flooded and were extremely uneven. The WiFi is very weak and cell service is spotty. The park is under a new manager who seems quite competent. Hopefully, she will be able to help this park. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Park is very pretty, forested and green. Small to big sites, dog park, 1 1/2 miles to south Florence. Would stay again, very pretty site. Park is undergoing infrastructure work: main dump station is out - an alternative available. Power is out on several sites so they are chained off, and wifi is only available in the first park section - but cell is good and you can tether off your phone. Campground is at the northern end of Oregon Dunes Recreational area. ATV's are the big activity here. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

This park is old, sad, tired, and the dustiest park I've ever been in. The park was carved out of a thick, dark forest that is pretty cool, but there appears to be very little (certainly too little) money for upkeep and improvements. I was directed to the straight section of D area where "the big rigs usually go." I couldn't back in with out scraping against the bushes in a 40' Motorhome. The sewer sites were all taken or too small. There are "pardon the dust while we remodel" signs, but I didn't see any work being done. The main dump station wasn't operable so to dump, you'd have to drive to the entrance and back into a spot they had reserved for dumping and then drive back through the bumpy dusty roads to scrape the bushes again to back in. Or, you could pay $50 (are you kidding me?) for pump out service. Employees were nice. I left early. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Members so cost us nothing for the nightly stay. We have a 36' MH and found some of the turns tight and shrubbery/ trees were an issue driving into the park. Much of the road is narrow and two way without the width for passing in many spots. Be careful! Some sites are quite tight but beautiful greenery. Park is quiet and beaches are amazing. After some maneuvering we did manage to grab satellite sky but was tough. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

The setting is outstanding! There are huge trees, forests, ferns, and moss - a real Jurassic Park setting. While some of the roads are gravel, some are paved as well. There is a wonderful fenced dog run our puppies enjoyed. The beach is close and pristine. We stayed over Christmas and were treated very cordially by the staff. We'll stay here again. The beach is outstanding. Local restaurants were reasonably priced and the food delicious. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Campsites here are pretty good sized except in the area where most of the sites with sewers are. Those sites are very close to each other. The other sites, most of which have only electricity and water, are large and have bushes/trees around the sites to allow for some privacy. Not all sites here will allow you to get satellite TV. Some areas are just too heavily forested for that. We changed sites after the first night so that our Dish would work. We had no problem with our Verizon MiFi or AT&T cell phones in either site we were in. Both worked well. There were really no activities here like other Thousand Trails parks have. There was a chili cook-off the day we arrived, but only 2 campers participated, so it wasn't much. Club houses are in fairly good shape, but not heavily used, probably because of the lack of activities. Pool and hot tub were both open while we were here, unlike other TT parks we've been in recently. Laundry was larger than most. Washers were good, but the dryers didn't heat well, so drying took a long time. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed our 2 days at South Jetty. It was like a little wooded fairyland with all the ferns and small plants. We didn't have a site with septic, but we were out most of the time exploring. The Ranger was helpful and kind at check-in. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

They say they have full hookups, but what they don't tell you is that they are first come, first served, even if you made reservations long in advance. When we arrived, we were told no sites with sewers were available. I went to check out the showers, since we wouldn't be able to use ours, and the shower was disgusting! We were supposed to stay 3 nights, but bailed out the next morning. Our site was literally carved out of the hillside. This is a beautiful park and is well-reviewed. It's truly beautiful here. We were able to get a water/electric site that backed into the woods and enjoyed the coziness and view. The reason I wanted to write a review is because of the lack of information about cell service at the campground, which led to our booking a long stay and leaving early. My husband is a software developer who works a 9-5. He HAS to have a reliable Verizon signal. It is priority #1 for us. I called the ranger station before booking and was assured that the Verizon signal is very strong at this campground. Upon arrival, I asked again and was told that "Verizon is awesome throughout the whole park." Though I only had 2 bars, it is sometimes the case that it's still a good signal, especially with our booster. This time, it wasn't true. Even next to the booster, which usually gives us an extra 1-2 bars, the cell data was too slow to work. After limping along for a few days, with my husband having to connect and re-connect with his boss several times and his screen-share lagging, we knew we had to leave. I noticed that the Verizon signal wasn't much stronger in a good deal of Florence, so I don't think it's just this campground. One other thing to mention: during our stay, another family in the full time Families group posted that she was very unhappy with the dark, gloominess of the park, caused by the forest, which closes in all around most sites. She said she felt like it was always night time, though the weather was actually nice once you got out of the park. I totally understood what she meant. The only difference for us is that, being from the Oregon coast and having been gone for a year, we actually found it cozy and relaxing. Just something to keep in mind. Chances are, it'll be dark in your RV because of so much tree cover. There is so much to do here, so much to see. If you don't care about cell data speeds or getting a FHU site, this might be a great park for you. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Oh, you have to go down and have clam chowder at Mo's and check out the shops. My kids also liked Darlingtonia Park, with their carnivorous plants! It's a quick, free stop, which we did on our way back from the beach. Sea Lion Caves is $$$ but if you're not from the area, you might think it worth it. Also check out the lighthouse.

We stayed here as Thousand Trails members. This wasn't the nicest Thousand Trails we've been at. As always, arrive early to snag a good spot. It's very tight with small sites, some of which are closed due to electrical problems. Only about a third of the sites have sewer but we we're lucky enough to snag one of them. It's a beautiful place and the location, about a mile from the ocean and sand dunes, can't be beat. But the park was a bit run down, even by Thousand Trails standards. The closed sites has notices stating they would be fixed by May 18 but it was mid June. There is some evidence of upgrades like machinery, water pipes and new electrical pedestals. The club houses and pool were nice enough. The sites are very small, especially the sewer sites in Loop A. On the upside the staff was very helpful when we arrived, letting us know what sewer site were open and showing us where the were. But if you're got a Thousand Trails membership, this place is a gem. So many lovely places to visit within a half hour you can forgive the shortcoming of the park. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

We loved our 4 nights at this TT park. Very close to Florence, which we liked very much, and close enough to the beach for nice sunset. This TT park feels like a state park. We ended up choosing a water/electric 30amp site for more space in a quiet loop. We were close enough to the activity centre to reach the wifi hotspot but still felt like camping out in nature.

As with many TT parks, there are holes in road and some electrical pedestals are iffy. We now have a habit of walking around with an electrical device to check for reverse polarity before backing into a site!

A few of the neighboring sites were closed either due to maintenance needed or leaking water bibs. Also, the dump station was closed and a temporary one was set up in a loop (we did not use because it was in a curve and not convenient for us). We ended up following the park's recommendation to drive south 2 miles to the state park and dump for free. Laundry was relatively cheap and worked well. Free wifi worked very well. We got about 15 stations over the air with good reception. Bath houses were cleaned and well lit. All the workers we encountered were polite and helpful. Overall, a great TT experience! Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

South Jetty RV Park offers something so many parks do not and that is the feeling of nature. A short distance from the city of Florence and you find yourself in a forest. What is truly nice is that the feel of nature has not been demolished with slabs of concrete at the sites. I loved the gravel and privacy of each site. This is a Thousand Trails park but the general public can use the park. I am a Passport America member and was welcomed really nicely. Staff at the office were not only friendly but provided a great deal of information and answered so many first time visit questions. They even accommodated my special request that I truly appreciated. One must stop in at the office, pay fees, register and then go pick out your own site. You are given a nice map detailing which sites are water/sewer and also locates those that are full service. The majority of the sites are larger than most RV parks, have far more privacy and give you the nature feel. Bathrooms are clean, warm and located in nice locations. Garbage dumpsters were located in areas that were convenient. I did not see any recycling containers and that was a bit of a disappointment. A children's play area and a pool/hot tub open during summer months are located near the lodge. There are two lodges and one is adult only. The one thing that will certainly have me returning for future visits is that the park is located 2.1 miles from the ocean beach. This is one of the longest stretches of beach front in Oregon. The 2.1 mile walk from the park is not an easy one. There is very little shoulder on the road. Drivers seemed to be moving slow and courteous when i walked to the beach. If you want a great park to escape the cement, city lights and chaos of city life this is the park for you. My visit was in November and there was several locations under going repairs and work. That did not impact my visit in a negative way. We camped at South Jetty RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive the entire camp ground before picking out your site. You pay then pick a site. I am sure they would let you take a tour before paying. The newer C sites by the yurts and cabins on the hill have the most opportunity for sunshine should the Oregon Coast have it during your stay.
