Overall Rating:

We were looking for a campground in the general area to break up a long drive. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a weeknight in late August in our 25 foot MH. There are 4 similar, small primitive campgrounds on the south shore of Timothy Lake. We stayed at Pine Point campground. Access is via an approximately 10 mile paved road from OR-26. We arrived late in the day without reservations and filled the last site. The sites are large and mostly level. There're large trees throughout providing a mix of shade with some sun. Some of the sites have a lake view. There are no hookups. Water to fill tanks is available at Hoodview campground a mile away. There's no dump station at any of the 4 campgrounds. There's no WiFi. There was good AT&T coverage and no Verizon coverage. The campground host was friendly and helpful. We camped at Gone Creek Campground (USFS) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are several boat launches along the lake. (Max boat speed is 10 mph.) there are several trails near the campground, including a 13 mile loop around the lake (15 miles for bikes). There's no beach at the campground, however, there's access for swimming.

Gone Creek is one of several campground on the shores of Timothy Lake. They are all pretty similar with narrow roads and sites that are challenging to back into and/or level the RV. Gone Creek has a very nice beach area, gorgeous views of Mt. Hood directly across the lake and great fishing. It is quiet and family-oriented, great for kids. There is absolutely no cell signal within at least 10 miles of the campground, so be warned. Some of the sites, including some pull-throughs, are right on the lake. We camped at Gone Creek Campground (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a good shore fishing spot near the end of the east loop of the campground, look for a low rocky cliff where the lake shore is steep.
