Nice host, quiet. Near brownlee reservoir and the snake. Will go again. Watch out for goat head stickers. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Well kept clean park on the Snake River. Very hot & dry. River was low w bluegreen algae present. Self check in w 3 loops to choose from. Loop A (Antelope)- near dump station, closest to park area & highway. Loop B (Brown something)- more private w trees & hedges between sites. Loop C (Catfish)- open area w great view of the night sky but scorching during the day - our loop. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rangers were very courteous. Not much to do in area. Would not swim in the water this time of the year. Unsure about other times. Good stop over site. We stayed 2 days. Too long.

No formal check in so we went straight to our site for our two nights stay. After readjusting a couple of times (angle was a little tight), backed into spot 104 in the far Catfish loop of the campground with water and electric but only 30 amp. Nice spacious sites in this loop but little shade compared to the other loops. We had great river and mountain views from our camp site. The front area loops were a little tighter site and road wise but have mature trees and shrubs between most of the sits. We used the dump station on the way out of the park with no issues. We utilized our weBoost as the Verizon signal here was very weak. weBoost gave us enough bars to get cell phones and MIFI working. The park staff was very helpful and kept the park clean. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

50 amp water and electric site, pull through with fire pit and picnic table. We were in B loop with a 82' long pull through site. The problem was the roads were narrow with tall bushes along both sides. Our site was on a curve in the road, so we couldn't pull through to get out because of the bend in the road and bushes. We actually had to back out to leave. I would only recommend C loop for big rigs. They were back in sites, but much more open and negotiable. This park is along the Snake River, very pretty surroundings. but is in a remote area of Oregon with nearest services about 20 miles away. No Verizon cell service or over the air TV stations. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Our first time here was in the fall and was nice. Summer just OK. Roads and pads are paved, level, and flat. Sites are within a short walk to the river. No beaches, mostly rock shoreline. Lots of shrubs in this B loop between sites that could use some trimming. Catfish loop is more open and spacious where we stayed our first time. Biggest problem with this site is it was next to a very full, very ripe overflowing dumpster whose smell kept drifting our way. It was over 90 degrees when we arrived but the 50 amp and our dual A/C's worked well. I have a electrical monitoring system and the voltage and amperage were adequate and consistent. Low voltage is probably worse than surges for equipment damage. I have a Verizon Jetpack with Weboost cradle amplifier and Weboost trucker antenna. Signal was very adequate. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Basics roads paved and easy to maneuver. Showers were clean with ok pressure and lukewarm water. Loops B and C have power all of loop C is 30 amp with water, loop be has 20/30/50 with water. Loop C had the largest sites that can handle any size rig. Loop B has smaller sites but a few large sites that can handle big rigs. We had minimal luck with Verizon and Mifi. We did not have a booster. The site was gravel and level. We had a nice view of the river and the spacing on our site was great. We stay here again if we're in the area. A beautiful park. Lots of available spaces given the day of the week for an overnight stop. Both of us agreed we would love to be able to stay longer and we will on our next trip. All of the park rangers we encountered were very pleasant and professional. We chose a site close to the bend in the Snake River for a great view. Tips for other Campers:

If eastbound, stop at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center on Flagstaff Hill just east of Baker City, or if westbound, stop the next day. It's about an hour away from the park.

We came here after several weeks of busy exploring in Washington and Oregon. There is nothing to do in this area, but that is just what we needed... a week of downtime. There are not many stores or anything nearby so stock up before you come. The campsites in the C loop are large with generous spacing between sites. The Snake River was behind our site and we had a beautiful view. When we first pulled into our site my phone showed no Verizon at all so I was afraid we wouldn't be able to stay since we work remotely and rely on cell coverage. We put up the booster and got 4G that worked surprisingly well for the entire week. Phone was a little weak but still usable with one 1 or 2 dropped calls during the week. AT&T did not work at all even with the booster. The campground was very quiet and peaceful when we were there in late September. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

91 sites with water and electric. We stayed here in our 29 ft class C. Road in the Brownlee loop had hedges along it which was nice for privacy but could be an issue for long rigs. The Catfish loop was more open so may be a better area for big rigs. Lots of grass and trees but it's not in a forested area. Very warm mid September but it's been unusually hot in the Northwest this year. Beautiful view of the river but the Snake River is at a low level this time of year. It would have nice access to docks and the boat launch when the water level is higher in spring and summer. It's easy to see why this was a nice stop along the Oregon Trail to rest before continuing on the journey. Very nice! We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Very pretty park with lots of trees and greenery. Easy access off the interstate, but far enough away to not hear traffic. Not near any towns or groceries, so plan ahead. Park rangers very friendly and helpful. Easy to navigate through park. Outer spokes of Brownlee ring have hedges around every site for lots of privacy, but no views. Catfish ring sites are closer to the water and have nicer views. Not as much privacy as the Brownlee ring sites, but lots of room between sites. No wifi, but Verizon signal is decent. No o/a tv. Trains go through every so often, but they are not super loud. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Clean park. Many camp employees driving around all day. Being only 15 miles from Ontario, the park seems remote but is easily accessed from the freeway. As another reviewer mentioned, the park is not big rig friendly. The abundant shrubbery and narrow, winding roads make it difficult to traverse the A or B loops. In our 40' fifth wheel we couldn't fit into an available space. Park staff found an open site on the C loop that we could easily back into. The C loop has 30A electric service, not the 50A of other loops. Directv reception is non-existent whereas Dish Satellite works. The terrain prevents cell (Verizon) reception, but our VZ Jet Pack worked at our site. Being adjacent to the Snake River, fishing for catfish appears abundant. There were many signs in the area asking anglers not to place fish in trash receptacles. Annual Catfish fishing derby is held in the spring. Nearby Huntington (5 miles away) has a nice museum that is open on weekends. We will stay again, however, we will bring plenty of DVDs to watch in the evening. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

This park probably has seen better days when the river was higher. A pleasant setting except for the low level of the river, but they should definitely not be renting out sites to rigs longer than 40 feet. We stayed in a "pull-through" that could not be pulled through with our 45 ft motorhome due to the narrow road, abundant bushes, and sharp turns. Low hanging trees scraped our awnings and airconditioners on the way in. It was hard just pulling in to the campground, let alone negotiating our assigned spot. Late in the day and no options so we managed as well as we could. Took 20-30 minutes trying to "pull-through" the pull-through upon leaving; should have just backed out. (Hindsight is always 20-20. ) Campsites are close to river but the river is not usable for much as the level is so low. I saw some people fishing. Disconnect tow vehicle before entering camping area. I would stay here for a stopover in a smaller rig but would not go back in a big rig. The adjacent town (Huntington) doesn't seem tuned in to tourism. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

It was ok, not the best Oregon State Park we have been to, looked like it had seen better days and many empty spots. We took a back in with a nice view of the Snake river and distant view of the interstate. Too hot and windy to sit outside. I walked down to the Iron Ranger and dropped off our Payment. Stayed in the lower loop, Catfish Loop/B. First day was exciting as Cycle Oregon was using Farewell Bend as a staging area for 2,200 bicyclists. The Park staff handled that extremely well. Sites are generally level with fair to good separation. Nearly all are back in (two pull throughs) with water and 30 amp electric. Dump station is available when exiting. Tips for other Campers:

Farewell Bend is at the point where the immigrants left the Snake River and began the trek to the Blue Mountains and Oregon City. Nearby, out of Baker City, is the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center which is well worth your time. Also a drive into Huntington, OR and then down some of Hells Canyon can be enjoyable. Finally a stroll down to the Snake from the CG will put you in the midst of some great rock hounding.
